We needed doggy day care while we visited Universal Studios, as our hotel didn’t allow dogs to be left unattended in the room. We road-tripped down from Seattle (with our 2 dogs & 2 kiddos) and camped along the way, which left us a little frazzled and haggard... Elena was very empathetic and caring, despite my lack of proper research, planning, and punctuality.. lol Probably should’ve looked into things a bit more in-depth about the hotel pet policy beforehand, but I am incredibly grateful that Elena was able to take the pups while we visited the parks for a couple days. She was very tolerant, observant, and nurturing with our two pets, and I think they had a great time… even though they aren’t the best-trained dogs. We have a 4-year-old sassy chihuahua-heeler mix, and a 1.25-year-old Malinois-cattle dog mix. They are sweet girls, but have a strange dynamic. Elena took them in stride and handled them with care, as if they were her own. 10/10!! Couldn’t have asked for a better pet-sitter in our time of need. Thank you so much, Elena!!”

After a few folks moved out of town and others had kids which limited travel time, I’m opening up again. My preference would be to begin those same kind of long term care relationships with people who travel often or for larger lengths of time which allows your pup to feel as though they’re always going to a safe and familiar space with friends they know and love playing with. Working from home has allowed me to better care for my own senior pups and also gives me the freedom to spoil your loved one as well. My two friendly senior pups and I enjoy a gated back yard that still sees birds and squirrels enough to entertain them while being safe from any interactions. We have astroturf for back scratching and enjoying the sun, as well as a front yard, quiet cul de sac streets and a giant park for leisurely walks.

Jack was very attentive and extremely responsive. He was great about sharing pics and video to let us know Elu was doing well. It was so tough leaving her for a week but we felt relieved to have found such a kind and thoughtful sitter as Jack! He was also great about taking her for walks and even a hike to Runyon Canyon! Since we’ve been home, Elu keeps looking for Jack at the door. It’s so sweet that she bonded with him and we now feel so much better about our next trip knowing she will be in such caring hands.”

“This was our first time using Rover for our German Shepard, Axel and Buddy’s Retreat could not have made the experience more perfect! Christine was warm, thorough, and welcoming at our meet and greet. Easing any of our concerns and giving us a run through of a typical day. Drop off was quick and easy- Axel immediately felt at home! The updates were frequent with lots of happy puppy pictures from playing with the other dogs, numerous games of ball and snuggling in his bed. Our pup can even be a finicky eater and they were kind to try different treats to entice him to eat. Upon pickup Axel was the most calm I’ve ever see him after a time away from us. All this to say- Axel would be thrilled to go back! We highly recommend Buddy’s Retreat.”
“Best boarding experience my pup has ever had! He’s not exactly the easiest boy to handle given how energetic he is, but after our initial meet and greet with Ashlee I had 0 concerns. She told me about the dog rescue organization she created so she definitely will give your pup the care and attention they need. She also took my dog on pack walks and long hikes around Runyon Canyon! She has so much space on her fenced off property and the sweetest dogs of her own that all played well with my pup and helped keep him busy! I genuinely believe he had a better time than I did while I was away. He came home cuddly and so tired so I know he had a blast!
