About: Hello, I am a local who lives full time in Tahoe City. I've been a pet owner with both dogs and cats for the last 30+years. I am a mother of two grown children that are now off away at school. I work at the local elementary school with young children of special needs. I am a fun, caring and loving person who loves both animals and humans. I don't have any pets living with me so your pet would be the only one I would be caring for. I am free to take care of your pet most days, nights and some weekends. I work from home during the summer months so my schedule is always flexible. I currently live in a condo down the street from Lake Tahoe. There are numerous parks at the lake as well as many hiking trails to walk your dog at that are close by my place. I will always walk your dogs on a leash unless otherwise informed by owner to let run free in the woods and trails. I am very safe and responsible.
“They took in a big girl even though they didn't usually do large dogs! We appreciated their willingness to give larger dogs a try! They took great care of her! She came back very sleepy, so we know she was getting around! ????”
“Tim was awesome! We had our dogs at our wedding but didn’t want them around for the loud music, so Tim came to our venue to pick them up during dinner! They had SUCH a good time - so many great pictures of the two of them with Tim and other new dog friends to hang out and play with. They are passed out from all of the fun activity”

“Megan was a great sitter for our Charlie! I appreciated the effort she made to meet up before hand to get to know him. She was also easy to schedule and communicate with. I loved all of pictures we got throughout his stay. Coming home, Charlie was totally chilled out and happy; seems like he had a great time at Megan’s house and we so appreciate the care and attention she gave our old pup.”

“I had a last minute trip and Melissa took great care of my pup while I was away! She was flexible with my early drop off time and very responsive. Thank you!”

About: I am a dog mommy of a medium 14 year old pit mix, Roxy. I love all dogs and have family with everything from a Chihuahua (with no teeth) to a dopey Great Dane named after prince George. I have babysat all of their dogs and love to play outside with them. I like to run and hike with my dogs and we like to be silly together. She is getting older (14 years old) so she is not as active as she once was. I'm an educator, so my own pup is used to me being gone during the day, but because of holidays and summers I'm also free frequently. My own dog in the past struggled with stubborness and reactivity, so I know how to work with stubborn dogs and easy going dogs of all sorts. I have also worked with geriatric dogs and know what a struggle it can be when dogs are getting into old age. As an educator I work Monday through Friday (most weeks) during the day, and am home evenings, but have extensive availability weekends and holidays. My schedule can be somewhat flexible I am available to come to your home if your dog needs some company or can have your pup at my place. I also have transportation for taking your pet to the beach, river, or parks. I am happy to run, walk, or just hang out with your pets.
“Trulie was wonderful with our Shih-Tzu Shazam! She has a big beautiful yard for dogs to run around in and 2 fellow Shih-Tzus that mine could chill with. She is very loving towards Shazam and sent pictures and updates on how he was doing - she always made sure he was safe and comfortable (and well-loved)! Will definitely bring Shazam back!”

“It was very easy to book with Gabriel the day prior to my short trip to Tahoe. He was very responsive and flexible with both pick up and drop off. My 7 mo old puppy stayed for one night. I would book again if I do another quick trip to Tahoe.”

“This was the first time boarding my 7MO old puppy. Of course I was nervous leaving her! Melissa sent me pictures and updated me throughout the stay. Receiving these updates reassured me that I made the right decision. I could tell by the pictures my Annie was having a great time. Thanks Melissa ~ I've already booked another stay and Annie can't wait.”

“Faith is an absolute gem of a dog sitter, and I genuinely can’t recommend her enough. I reached out last minute — the kind of request most sitters would turn down without a second thought — and she said yes without hesitation. What really stood out was how thoughtfully she handled Atlas’s anxiety. She didn’t treat it as an inconvenience; she approached it with patience and genuine care, and it made such a difference knowing my pup was in calm, understanding hands rather than just being “watched.” On top of that, she was incredibly flexible with pick-up and drop-off times, and even made a special exception for me when I needed a time outside her normal hours. She didn’t make me feel like a burden for asking — she just made it work. That kind of grace is rare. And the updates! She check-ins with photos and messages that were so reassuring. You could tell she wasn’t just going through the motions — she actually cared how he was doing. If you have a dog with any special needs or anxiety, Faith is your person. She went above and beyond in every way. Thank you Faith! 🐾”

“We continue to use Susan every time we go out of town. We love knowing he is going to be taken care of, and that he gets to spend his days on long hikes playing with Susan and her dogs. Thank you Susan!”

“We had 5 day family vacation and couldn’t take our 1.5 year old golden, Monty. Melissa was wonderful with Monty! She kept me updated throughout his stay with photos and videos, and communicated really well the whole time. It was clear he was in great hands. Highly recommend, and we’d happily book with her again!”

“Lyndsey was amazing with dog Tulee! She was so kind, took her on multiple walks, sent me many pictures & videos throughout the day and had great communication. Couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! Thank you!”

About: I have grown up with all sorts of cats both young and old and have always been their primary caretaker in our home. I am a local living at the lake in Tahoe City. I work at the local elementary school with young children with special needs. I am a caring loving person that has pays great attention to details.

“Mariah was so attentive and took extra care with my cat and bird. It was such a good experience to know that she was watching after them while I was away. I highly recommend her and will request her in the future. Thank you, Mariah!”

About: Greetings. I’ve had a best friend who was with me everyday for 15 years. I was with her from the beginning to the end. I am sensitive to the needs of our dogs and always very aware of our surroundings. I’m ultra aware of the cayotes up here and all their tricks. With the new smells and distractions for some dogs that are not from here I always feel safer to keep them on leash during our walks. I live alone in a quiet cabin on a quiet street, no traffic and no neighbors. Big fenced back yard and a small gated front porch. I know all the trails in Sierra track as well as the whole area. I’m very flexible and will take care of all the little things that are needed and the unexpected ones that pop up. I know how stressfull it can be traveling and then leaving your best friend with someone. I will communicate with you and make it easy and stress free. It’s a big adjustment not having my sweet girl Francis. I was so used to waking up and she was there, or coming home and she was sitting in my spot waiting for me. Honestly this is good for me having a dog around. It’s helping with this process I’m going through. I am very flexible and available almost anytime and on short notice if life happens. I know how that goes. I know the trails and areas to go that are safe and fun. Im an early riser, and I enjoy mornings walks when it’s nice and quiet with no traffic or crowds of people. I have no problem with taking the pup with me in the car to run a quick errand or even better a day trip somewhere. Some dogs love car rides with the window down and nose out. And some do not. It’s all optional, absolutely no problems leaving him or her at home while I’m out for a sec. I primarily work from home and would be with him/her almost all the time. My dog Francis was a little attached. Maybe loyal is a better word. I was very lucky with her and didn’t have to worry too much. But I learned to never ever let anything happen to her. Very aware of our environment. Cars, other dogs, cayotes, bees , bodies of water and all weather conditions, hot pavement and even to always avoid the drains/grates in the roads ect. I’m not disactred by my phone or anything else. I’ll only feed what the owner approves.

“Mckenna took wonderful care of our girl, Zoe. She was thoughtful, reliable, and attentive to our needs. For example, she brought in our mail, placed packages inside, and vacuumed up cat litter without being asked. We’re grateful for the care she gave Zoe and our home while we were away, and would be glad to have her help again in the future.”

“Kelly is caring and patient with all the dogs. It's wonderful that she played with our puppy which got the baby tired out so our puppy was extra relaxed afterwards. We will definitely book her again.”

“Annette is highly professional, and I could not be more thankful to have her to watch my kitty. Annette stepped up very last minute, and I knew immediately that she would be the perfect sitter. She was excellent with communication, very caring and loving, and I felt completely comfortable having her stay in my home. My heart was warmed with updates and photos of Del while I was away. I would absolutely recommend Annette to other pet parents.”

Looking to build trusting relationships with pets and their humans! I am flexible on any changes or needs you and your pets may have. I’ve cared for puppies up to senior pups for long periods of time for clients and happy to share those references upon request. About: I'm Rachel, a writer with a flexible schedule and a love of all things canine. I live with my husband, and my chocolate Labrador retriever, Ellie, in our West Shore cabin near Homewood. I signed up for Rover because dog sitting helps me get my fix for having a doggy harem. I would love to shower your dog with attention and affection. I volunteer at the local humane society, so I'm very adept at adapting to your dog's needs. I particularly love active dogs, and I'm happy to take your pup on hikes and swims in the lake. I'm also happy to hang out and have a more relaxing day with older, less active pups. Ellie (13) is very well-socialized, and she gets along well with dogs of all sizes. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I’m always happy to go out for a walk or a hike. Ellie, my 13-year-old Lab, is always up for meeting a new dog friend. Daycare Rates & Information: Daycare is up to 8 hours of care. Anything longer than that time, please book a boarding stay. Drop-offs anytime after 8 a.m. Pickups before 8 p.m. Although there is a nice buffer of woods near my house, the yard is not fenced (hopefully soon). I’ll be sure to keep your pup on a leash just in case! There’s an enclosed deck for sunbathing and watching chipmunks.
“Sandra was wonderful with my two girls! She was easygoing during our meet-and-greet and incredibly flexible when a last-minute time change came up. I felt completely at ease, and I’ll definitely be hiring Sandra again in the future.”

About: I've had an assortment of animals my whole life and am an avid animal lover. I have had dogs my entire adult life. All the way from puppies to seniors with special needs, short term and long term fosters, and rescues with unique personalities. I am known in my circles as the dog whisper and am on all of my friends emergency contact for anything that they need advice with. I believe in building a bond of trust and doing positive reinforcement training techniques with animals and humans alike. Pet and house sitting is my main gig. My goal is to ensure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and well-attended to, whether through neighborhood walks, quality time at home, or overnight companionship. I focus on providing a peaceful and structured environment for the pets in my care. Because of this, I am a great fit for dogs who enjoy a relaxed pace and steady routine, though I may not be the best match for those requiring highly intensive outdoor exercise or off-leash adventure outings. Being based in Incline Village with a flexible consulting schedule means I can get to most local neighborhoods quickly for drop-ins or walks This allows me to be highly responsive to your pet’s needs, whether that’s a last-minute drop-in or staying at your home to keep your pet company during the day. Since I set my own hours, your pet’s routine becomes my priority. I believe pets are family members who deserve the same respect and care as any other resident. In a client’s home, my priority is maintaining the 'status quo' to minimize stress. I start by learning your pet’s specific cues, favorite hiding spots, and unique quirks. Whether it’s following a precise feeding ritual or ensuring the exact level of evening companionship they are used to, I treat your home and your pet with the utmost integrity. About: Compassionate and dependable animal caregiver with 5 years of hands on experience caring for four Goldendoodles and one Black Labrador. Skilled in providing daily care, including feeding, exercise, maintaining routines, and ensuring a safe, healthy environment. Experienced in managing multiple dogs at once, recognizing behavioral cues, and meeting each animal’s unique needs with patience and attention. Dedicated to promoting the well-being, comfort, and happiness of every pet while building trust with both animals and their owners. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I already enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I regularly go on runs, walks, hikes, paddle boarding trips, and swimming, and I would love to have a dog accompany me during those activities. Caring for pets would add structure and purpose to my day while also keeping me active and engaged. I also work full time as a medical assistant at Tahoe Forest Health System Monday through Thursday from 5:45 AM to 4:20 PM, so I really value making the most of my time outside of work. Having pet care responsibilities would be a great way for me to stay busy and active after my shifts or on my days off. Since I don’t have much family or many friends in the area, I genuinely enjoy the companionship of animals and would love to build a bond with your pets. Spending time with them would not only keep them happy and exercised, but also keep me motivated, fulfilled, and connected throughout the week. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent, comfortable, and stress-free as possible. I make sure they are fed on schedule, get plenty of exercise through walks and playtime, and receive lots of attention, companionship, and supervision while in my care. I also pay close attention to their behavior and needs to ensure they feel safe and well cared for in their own environment. When I lived in Cameron Park, I cared for five dogs of my own and kept them all very active through daily walks, outdoor time, and structured routines. Since moving, I no longer have pets of my own due to limited space and financial stability, but my experience with multiple dogs has given me strong hands-on knowledge of managing different personalities and energy levels at once. This experience has helped me stay confident and attentive when caring for other people’s pets, and I treat every animal like they are my own while they are in my care.

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs my entire life, which means caring for four-legged family members is second nature to me. As my family and friend’s resident dog sitter, I have hands on experience with pups of all shapes, sizes, and personalities from high energy giants to tiny couch potatoes. I am passionate about keeping dogs active and healthy, so you can count on me to provide plenty of outdoor time and engaging walks. I look forward to meeting your furry friend and providing them with a safe, fun, and loving environment while you're away! As a full-time remote worker, my schedule is highly flexible! Pet care fits seamlessly into my day, allowing me to offer reliable windows for walks and drop-ins. My 'portable' office also makes me a great fit for house sitting, as I can work right from your home and keep your pet company. Weekends are equally open and flexible for whatever your pet needs! I believe the best environment for a pet is one that closely mirrors their usual routine. Whether I am house sitting or dropping in, I strictly follow your specific guidelines for feeding and house rules. During house sittings and drop-ins, I respect your home as if it were my own—keeping things clean, secure, and locked up. When we are out on walks, your dog will always be kept on a secure, standard leash, and I maintain a strict 'no greeting' policy with unfamiliar dogs to prevent any unpredictable interactions. I am deeply observant of body language to ensure your pet is happy, comfortable, and never stressed. I also believe that communication builds trust, so you can always expect timely photo updates and detailed Rover cards after every visit!

From golden retrievers to dobermans, pit bulls, chihuahuas, and German shepherds, I have experience with all kinds of temperaments and dogs and am able to handle and care for all of them in the ways they need. I volunteer at the Nevada Humane Society and have completed a Fear Free Certification. I have trained all of the dogs I have taken care of and am very dedicated to making sure that they are well taken care of. When they are your best friend, they deserve the best. I will make sure that your dog gets plenty of love and care, and will be played with, and walked around to give them the socialization and exercise they need and want. I currently work full time, but have weekends off, and can sometimes do evenings, and love to spend my free time with pets. I fit pet care into my weekly routine by caring for a german shepherd weekly. I provide care for the pets by taking them on walks, and following any other normal care that the pet would typically require. I have 2 five year old german shepherds, as well as a 13 year old cat, so I am well equipped in dealing with multiple pets as well.
About: I have my own 4 year old black lab who loves attention, long walks, and spending time with other dogs. I’ve hosted many dogs through Rover over the past several years and treat every dog as my own. I prefer to walk or dog sit one additional dog at a time so that they can have individualized attention. I will constantly send photos of your pup while they’re with me and will spend time at any of the nearby parks in the city. I work from home full time so I can host your pup when needed. My dog loves to be with other dogs so it’s great to host during the week for extra socializing. I’m typically available on weekends as long as I’m not heading out of town. My dog loves playing with other dogs and loves trips to the park, but he is also in his old man era and will get lazy after a long walk which brings a good balance of chill time and being active.
About: I have years of hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages, including puppies, seniors, and pets with special needs. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, medication, crate training, and keeping pets active, happy, and safe. I have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to adjust my day around the needs of the pets I’m caring for. Whether it’s early morning walks, midday drop-ins, or evening visits, I’m able to make pet care a priority throughout the week. When pets stay in my home, I keep their routine as familiar as possible. I follow their feeding schedule, provide plenty of potty breaks, and make time for daily walks and play. I keep a clean, pet-safe space and offer lots of companionship throughout the day. I monitor behavior, offer enrichment activities, and ensure they have a comfortable place to rest. I also send regular photos and updates so owners know their pet is happy and relaxed.
About: As a lover of animals, I find working with dogs to have purpose and meaning. I love witnessing the spirit and personalities of each individual dog and getting to know them and their needs. I have cared for English Springer Spaniels, German Shepherds, Huskies, Vizslas, Basset Hounds, and Mixed Breeds. Presently, I live in a quiet neighborhood adjacent to a variety of trails and a dog park. Typically I like to take dogs for long walks (2-6 miles), however I also take into consideration their personal abilities (age, size, health, energy levels etc). I do have my own border collie mix named Stevie Nicks! She is 7 years old and my running buddy! I do have a full time job but also have flexibility with my schedule. I am very easily able to meet the requests of pet owners. I care for pets in their home as I would in my own home. For house sitting, I do aim to leave your home in better condition than when I arrived. I frequently launder linens, wash dishes, sweep, vacuum and mop before leaving a care site.
About: I will care for and love your pets as if they’re my own. And I hope most professional sitters would! I am here to meet yourself and your pets where you are at! And with patience, love and positive reinforcement. I would be willing to care for animals of all types—nothing is off the table. As long as it’s safe! Always open for discussion.😊 I am flexible and happy to assist; I would be honored to be your trusted, communicative, attentive, detail oriented pet caretaker. I also can even do a little light housekeeping, if needed. Everything is always open for discussion. This “gig” makes me happy and gives me fulfillment outside of Real Estate. Which, by the way…I am always here for questions about that too. Pets feel most comfortable in their home. Especially if you’re away. I’m here for you all.🫶🏼 Can’t wait to meet you! A little about me: I am a realtor and love my job! But with being a solo-caretaker of my elderly grandmother, this seems to be flexible. My schedule is mostly incredibly flexible, especially if planned in advance. I’m also great for last minute saves if things fell through with your normal pet sitter! I will meet you and your pet exactly where you are at! Anything that is out of my scope of comfort will be clearly communicated in advance or as needed. I am all about open communication on both sides. I can’t help if you don’t tell me what you need! If I can’t provide it, I certainly usually know someone who could. And that goes for a lot of things. Looking to build trusting relationships with pets and their humans! I am flexible on any changes or needs you and your pets may have. I’ve cared for puppies up to senior pups for long periods of time for clients and happy to share those references upon request. The only thing I can’t provide is a place for your pets in my home but I’m always open to yours which generally seems to be ideal. Just ask.🩷 Which both

“Leaving your dogs is never easy, but Christine made it seamless for us and joyful for Willow and Jones. She treated them like her own, created a warm space, and shared the sweetest updates. We came home to relaxed, happy pups, which says everything.”

“Pippa was happy and had a play mate. Gina was easy to work with and accommodating with our day and time changes with major weather conditions. Will take Pippa again next year.”

Thank you!”

“Gina and her husband were life savers. Our dog sitter fell through before a big holiday trip and they were able to take our pup with short notice. He seemed at home right away and continued to be having a great time during the updates we received while we were gone. We would definitely use them again and have no complaints at all!”

“Jennifer was a wonderful care-taker for our 60lb Vizsla. She was accommodating, communicative, and thoughtful, and cared for George as if he was her own. She made sure that as an active dog, he was adequately stimulated, and she made sure he was comfortable in his foreign environment while we were away. In addition, she made sure to send us updates in a nonintrusive yet fully transparent way. As dog parents, we felt calm and confident that George was in safe and loving hands. This is all we could wish for while away from our pup! Would 10/10 recommend. Thanks, Jennifer!”
