“I cannot say enough about how wonderful Elizabeth is. She saved us with a last minute booking and stayed with our 4 year old lab mix Theo for over a week. She was respectful of our wishes (always checked about treats to give him, kept the house clean) and gave Theo so much love and care. She also understood his issues with excessive heat and kept him hydrated and safe. Theo adored her. And most important was cared for like family. Elizabeth rocks!”

“Ellie watched our two dogs for the day. She was great! Very responsive, kind, arrived on time, sent us photos cuddling with our pets and sent updates throughout the stay. I would highly recommend!”

“Brandon F. was FANTASTIC! He gave regular updates and sent photos of our Lucy to us. It was so great to be able to relax and know that our beloved pet was in good hands with Brandon. Would absolutely book him again!”

About: I have always been a pet person. I’ve lived my whole life always having a pet. Whether that’s dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, or even fish! I love all animals and have even done wildlife rehab rescues. I’ve had experience dog sitting as well as dog walking. I know that every dog is different so I adjust to every pets needs, no two dogs are the same and every one is special in their own way :) Weekdays i'm available in the afternoons till however late is necessary. Weekends my schedule is practically wide open! My personal at home routine with my animals includes walks, food, water, play time, and anything in between! I have a large fenced in yard that my dog loves to run around in! I have a car too if any transport is needed, equipped with safety for dogs in the car! When I take dogs for walks I always bring a travel water bottle for them as well as snacks! I place a huge importance on dogs safety and health so on walks I will always go with the dogs pace and never push them past their limits, on really hot days we will stop for shade and water breaks!
About: I've been taking care of dogs my whole life and they all have good experiences and they are very comfortable with me. I love dogs Pet care is already part of my daily routine. I have my own dog, Ziggy, and I’ve had my service dog, Eclipse, for two years. Living with and caring for dogs every day has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to understand each dog’s unique needs. As I prepare for college, I have a flexible schedule and look forward to providing dependable, loving care for your pets. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. As the owner of Ziggy and my service dog, Eclipse, I’ve learned how important routine, patience, and positive care are. I’ll carefully follow your instructions, provide lots of walks, playtime, and attention, and make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away.
“Melaina did house sitting for our two dogs, one of them is blind and senior and needed special attention and medication. Melaina went above and beyond to keep them comfortable. She was prompt in her communication, always on time starting from meet and greet and during her 3 night stay. She kept us posted with timely updates and took really good care of the house!”
“Preston watched my 2.5 year old sheepadoodle Archie for just under 2 weeks while I was traveling. I highly recommend Preston to anyone who needs a house sitter. He was great with Archie and provided me updates as needed and was easy to get a hold of. He even began training Archie on some different skills. He even left my house cleaner than when I left it. Preston was a great choice for house sitting and I will definitely try to use him again if I ever need someone to watch my pup and house!”

“Yhakerra was so attentive and extremely caring towards both my fur babies. It was not easy either because both my kitties are in separate spaces of the house due to one of them chasing the other and hissing/growling. However, Yhakerra did amazing and handled the separate feedings/litter cleanings like a pro. She also left the house very clean and immaculate. She was even so caring that she asked if she could carry the youngest baby, Luna to the bedroom and let her sleep in the bed, which of course I was so touched that she was so sweet to accommodate the well being of the babies. She had to move her litterbox and food bowls. I highly recommend Yhakerra and will be booking her again in the future. Thank you so much Yhakerra, I’m so thankful to have had you care for my babies.”

“Becky was a fantastic dog sitter for us! She over communicates, shows our pups authentic love and just went above and beyond for our home outside of what we agreed too! Would highly recommend her! Just don’t overbook her schedule, then I won’t be able to book her services :)”

About: I have 20+ years of pet boarding, pet sitting, dog walking and now my whole family shares the love - and some of the responsibilities! I am experienced with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and other small creatures! I view all pets as family members. I live in NY and looking for a house sitting gig during my trip to Arizona during this spring break. My schedule is flexible - I am planning to take our four legged friends on lots of adventures outdoors. I work from home and my schedule is flexible so I spend most time with our furry clients.I can’t wait to go on a walk or play with my furry clients! We are happy to come to your home or board your pets in our home. We don't have a fenced in yard but we frequent the dog park and the park near-by. In my day job I regularly work with NYPD, the court system and other federal and state agencies - therefore I have a high level security clearance.
About: Hi! My name is Christina. I grew up having a Siberian Husky named Tonya and later a Bichon Frise named Daquiri. Pets have always been a part of my life. In my early 20's I took an incentive to relocate down south where I adopted Franky, a pitbull/husky mix puppy. Anyone who knows me knows that my world revolved around my dog. If my dog couldn't come, I wasn't going. 'You won't ever see Chris without that dog, who brings a dog to a hair appointment?" Yup.. that's me. Franky had such an impact on my life that she even was responsible for steering my career. Formerly regional leadership for Banfield Pet Hospital I was responsible for Learning and Development for the largest veterinary practice in the world with over 900 hospitals in 51 markets. (Annnd... Yes, my dog got to come to work with me!) My best friends and former colleagues range from medical directors within the veterinary field to Brandon Mcmillan from CBS Lucky Dog (animal trainer). There's no shortage of emergency contacts in my phone to reach out to which came in handy when Franky, my 17yr old Pitbull/Husky was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Almost 9 months ago now I made the heart wrenching decision to have Lap of Love come to my home and end Franky's suffering when it was clear she was losing her battle with cancer. It's bringing tears to my eyes now and I don't want to be the most depressing profile which leads me to you. While i'm not quite ready for another dog of my own as no one can replace Franky, I get so much enjoyment from being around animals that watching other peoples' pets has been healing and a source of comfort. I think it's safe to say I was a little over protective and needed my own pet sitter when traveling to and from headquarters in Portland, Oregon. At the time, Deb was a God send and I was so grateful to have found someone who understood me and my pet and I hope that I can be that to you and yours! I'm excited to meet you both! After leaving Banfield as a result of increased travel I went into business for myself. I currently only work from home and no more than a couple days a week. As you can imagine it can get lonely and I look forward to having your pet come stay with me. I try to stay active and walk daily to a nearby hiking trail. It's a good walk it takes about an hour and there is a dog park within the trail which is nice for dogs who get along well with others and are healthy enough to participate. Even when they don't get along with others sometimes if you go in the evening closer to dusk the park is empty and its nice to play fetch within the fenced in area. I live in an apartment but don't allow that to fool you, we have a huge courtyard and as I mentioned there is a hiking trail and dog park nearby to keep busy.
“Maggie was great! She sent lots of pictures and detailed updates throughout the stay, which I really appreciated and made me feel comfortable knowing my dog was in good hands. She was super nice, communicative, and took great care of him. I would definitely book with Maggie again!”

“Matt was awesome with an Oliver. He not only took care of Oliver as his own but also helped with the feeder which malfunctioned and even fed my pond fish.and he also helped me out with some pool pictures I needed. He sent pics and updated us and went above and beyond. Will definately be using him again.”

About: I strive to make the lives of our furry friends as fulfilling and fun as possible! I'm very comfortable taking care of any pet, and I have taken care of senior animals who require insulin shots and meticulous diets. One of my favorite electives at university was my 'Psychology of our Pets' class where we learned about how to best care for our furry friends and keep them active and healthy. I have owned dogs, cats, and even birds! Since I'm home from university for the summer, I'm pretty much available at the drop of a dime! While I would prefer a day's notice, I should be able to take care of your pet within two hours of your request. I believe that activities and fun are just as important for pets as they are for humans. Who wants to be stuck in their house all day? I know tons of dog-friendly walking trails, and I'd love to spend a few hours with them & make sure they are well-exercised. I've dealt with a lot of dietary restrictions for pets, so I can follow any directions very closely if needed. For Cats/Kittens, I have a few toys I'd be happy to bring, and even a harness if they want to explore outside for a few minutes!

About: I grew up in a big family with lots of pets including dogs, cats, rodents, and birds. I have been successful in self-taught basic training of dogs. I am a graduate student who plans to have pet care be a source of income that fits around my schedule. I have classes during the week and currently live on campus which is why I cannot provide care in my home. I have owned many pets in my life and have cared for different ages from puppies and kittens to seniors. I enjoy promoting enrichment activities and physical exercise.
“This was our first time hiring someone to stay with our pup and Andrea was a godsend! Not only was she amazing with our dog, but she was in constant communication with us while we were away. We felt comfortable having her in our house and know that our dog had the BEST time with her. Any time we travel we are booking Andrea!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Upper Nyack walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Upper Nyack maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Upper Nyack choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
