“Chelsea house/pet sat for us and did a fantastic job taking care of our Lucy and Tanner. She came over a few days before to meet them and they were comfortable with her right away. Chelsea has a kind, calming and caring way about her that they picked up on immediately. She sent pics and updates daily and responded to my texts. My husband said i was so much more relaxed than usual about being away from them. I felt very comfortable leaving them in Chelsea's care. i truly didn't worry about them at all. We always had to board T&L in the past. This was our first time using Rover snd we couldn't have been happier. They are so much happier in their own home with their usual routine. We have 2 trips coming up and we will definitely be booking Chelsea. Highly recommend! A+++”

“Our doodle just had TPLO surgery and is restricted in activity. Sweet Brianna stayed right beside her while she rested in her bed. We will definitely call Brianna to house sit again!”

“Ashley was wonderful! She took great care of both my dog and cat over the weekend, keeping me updated with photos and messages so I knew they were happy and comfortable. Both of the pets clearly adored her. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve grown up around animals my whole life and have experience with all kinds of pets, personalities, and energy levels. My family has 5 dogs and 2 cats, and I love dogs so much I got one of my own too! I’m comfortable with puppies, senior pets, multi-pet homes, and making pets feel safe, loved, and cared for while you’re away. I treat every pet like family and love sending updates and cute pictures along the way! 🐾 I just graduated from Ole Miss but will be in Oxford till May 2027! Since I have a puppy of my own, I try to keep my schedule open. That means I have lots of availability! I will follow all guidelines that the client gives and put your animal first! I am responsible and will make sure they get the care they need!

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I’ve grown up caring for 5 dogs, a cat, a tortoise, and plenty of other pets over the years, so being around animals feels very natural to me. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, and I always try to make them feel comfortable, safe, and loved while their owners are away. I’ve helped take care of pets for friends, family, and neighbors by feeding them, walking them, playing with them, and giving them lots of attention. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, young, or older, I’m patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I’m currently in class Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9am–12pm, and I work Friday and Saturday nights, but outside of those times I have a very flexible schedule. I’m available most afternoons, evenings, and weekends, and I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine and needs. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that’s going on walks, playing with them, or just giving them company and attention while you’re away. I always try to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in any environment. At our house during college, we’ve had 3 cats, so I’m very used to caring for animals daily and understanding different personalities and routines. I’ve also helped take care of foster dogs from the animal shelter, which taught me patience and how to work with pets that may be nervous or need extra attention. I’ll always treat your pets like they’re my own and make sure they get lots of love, attention, and proper care.

I'm reliable, responsible, and committed to making sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I'll also provide updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your dog is in good hands. I do specialize in medium to large breeds but am open to small breeds also! I am open to all ages and all energy levels, but I am most experienced in high energy breeds! 🐾 Looking forward to meeting you and your furry family member! 🐾 As a college student, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to make time for walks, drop-in visits, and spending quality time with pets. I always make sure pets receive the attention, exercise, and care they need to feel comfortable and happy. I’m available most weekends and M-F afternoons! Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. In a client's home, I make sure to follow all care instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, exercise routines, medications, and any special needs. I strive to keep pets on their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. I provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, fresh water, and affection, and I'm happy to send regular photo and video updates. I also make sure doors, gates, and leashes are secure at all times and keep a close eye on pets during walks and outdoor activities. I treat every pet and home with the same care and respect that I would my own. I do not have a yard but my neighborhood has a fenced in dog park!
“Laney was absolutely fantastic! Our pups immediately fell in love with her, and she cared for them as if they were hers. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a kind, caring, and very thorough caretaker. She became part of our family and we look forward to leveraging her services again.”

“Jaci is awesome! She took great care of our dog, Tasha and was extremely accommodating with some schedule changes that came up. Tasha loved being with her! We will definitely have Jaci help us again in the future!”

About: I currently work in veterinary medicine and am enrolled in vet tech school, so caring for animals is something I’m passionate about both professionally and personally. I have experience handling pets of different sizes, temperaments, and medical needs, and I always prioritize safety, patience, and comfort. Whether your pet loves playtime, cuddles, or a calm routine, I’ll make sure they feel cared for and loved while you’re away. I work at an Animal hospital in Oxford currently, so I have lots of free time to take care of furry friends! I also spend most of my time at home! Although I do stay in a tiny home, I have access to the dog park right up the road! I am more than willing to carry your pup to the dog park multiple times a day if needed, it’s almost a 5 min drive! If sitting at your place, I’m still happy to take them to the dog park! I can also send updates on how you’re pets doing throughout the day with pictures!
About: Having been a dog lover since childhood, I’ve always had dog sitting gigs for a side hustle. I also managed a professional boarding kennel for 5 years where I learned to care for pets of all sizes, personalities and needs. The great outdoors are my life, and I have grown into a passion hunting dogs, and have spent the last 4 years training my Labrador retriever. I have two dogs of my own, West, my four year old trusty hunting black Labrador, and Tilly a nine year old German Shepherd mix. I’m mostly available on weekends (Friday-Sunday), but depending on your dog’s daily needs, I can be flexible. I live in Oak Creek, but work in Steamboat Springs at a very dog friendly environment. I ensure your pet gets the basic care they need, plus extra love, photos, and time outside. I am flexible on whether you want me to stay in your home, or in mine, again depending on the specific pet’s needs and location.

About: I’ve cared for my own dog and cat for years, helped care for my roommate’s dog, and done drop-in visits for households with multiple dogs and cats. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, cleaning up after pets, and making sure they feel safe and cared for while their owners are away! I am a student at Ole Miss, so I have class M-F! I am free early mornings, afternoons, and nights! I’m only in class for about 3 hours each day, so we can communicate on what times would work best for you and your pets! I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in both my home and my clients’ homes. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, keep their environment clean and calm, and pay close attention to their behavior and needs. I also make sure doors, gates, leashes, food, and medications are handled carefully to keep every pet safe and stress-free. I have a 15 year old dog myself, so I know how important it is to make sure he feels comfortable, taken care of, and loved!
“Jennifer is wonderful! She’s attentive and cares for my two senior doggos as if they are her own. She goes above and beyond, is a great communicator, and just a kind person overall. Highly recommend choosing Jennifer for top notch pet care!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - University
I am very pleased with Chelsea. She has a calm and competent demeanor, which is evident from the first time I met her. She specializes in older dogs and our dog will be 13 years old next month. Our dog is very nervous and does not take to new people easily, but she clearly felt comfortable with Chelsea on day one. It’s so nice to walk into our home after we’ve been gone and have the place look as cleaned up as we left it. I can highly recommend Chelsea.

Reagan was absolutely amazing with our dogs! We have two large breeds - a Cane Corso and a Rottweiler/pitbull mix - who can definitely come off as intimidating, but they are total sweethearts. Reagan handled them with so much confidence and care, which immediately put us at ease. She communicated with us daily, sending updates and making sure we always knew how they were doing. It meant so much while we were away. She made sure they got plenty of exercise with walks and lots of fetch to burn off their energy. On top of that, we came home to a house that was exactly as we left it, which we really appreciated. We would absolutely book Reagan again and highly recommend her!

We had such a wonderful experience with our pet sitter! This was our first time leaving Ellie and Rowdy, and she made us feel completely at ease. She kept us updated, was very attentive, and you could tell she truly cared about them. Ellie can be a little unsure at first and Rowdy is very attached, but they both warmed up to her quickly and were happy, playful, and well cared for. She handled everything perfectly—even their little personalities—and made sure they were comfortable the entire time. It meant so much to know they were in good hands while we were away. We came home to two very happy pups, which says everything! I would absolutely recommend her and will definitely use her again in the future. 🐶💕

Jordyn took care of my two pets, a dog and a cat, for a week while I was out of town. She did a great job and I highly recommend booking with her. She’s a very good communicator and took lovely photos to keep me updated. I won’t hesitate to reach out to her again next time!
Emma is truly an angel on earth. During the ice storm, she stayed at my house for over 12 hours with no power and no heat just to make sure my dogs were safe and cared for. When it became clear the situation wasn’t improving, she didn’t hesitate, she packed them up and brought them into her own home with her sweet boyfriend and their three dogs, treating them like her own. When I couldn’t safely make it back to Oxford due to road conditions, she kept them for two extra nights without question. In the middle of an incredibly stressful and emotional situation, Emma became my greatest sense of relief. Her constant communication, thoughtful updates, and genuine compassion meant more to me than I can put into words. Emma is the true definition of a good human, and I would trust her with my dogs again in a heartbeat.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in University on Rover is $33.3 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 83 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across University. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred University walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in University maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in University choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
