“We were really happy that Taylor was able to housesit for Sushi and Fish. They apparently enjoyed the attention she gave them, and they were really relaxed when we got home - not stressed as if they had been abandoned. We'd love to have Taylor take care of them again.”

“Lisa was responsible, loving and knowledgeable when caring for our boys, Sunny and Louie. This was our first time away from the boys. We were able to really relax and enjoy ourselves knowing they were in good hands with Lisa. They loved her and can't wait for her to come back. When we travel again, Lisa will be our go-to dog sitter. Thank you, Lisa!”

“Eloise is amazing. I felt very confident from the start of our interactions to the meet and greet and the eventual stay that she would take great care of Opal. I was correct! She’s super thorough yet laidback, sent updates and was easy to communicate with!”

“Nancy was an excellent sitter! We had her housesit our 2 cats and senior dog who takes medication and she did a great job with all of them. She went above and beyond, and it was a huge relief having someone we trust to look after our animals while we were away. We will definitely be booking with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Olivia did a wonderful job watching my 4 dogs at my house. She was patient with them to earn their trust. She went above and beyond when my senior dog developed issues while we were gone. She was willing to administer medication to help him with some relief. I would definitely recommend Olivia to care for your pets.”

“It was so great to have Jana stay at our home and watch our pets (2 dogs, tortoise, and 4 fish) while we were away for a week. They felt completely comfortable with her and we felt the same leaving them in her care. We would love to have her care for them again.”

About: I am experienced in administering medicinal injections, nail trimming and teeth brushing of larger breeds, lifting 60+ lbs, pad and potty training, and assisting senior and special needs dogs. I currently work remote and spend most of the day with my own pup by my side. We go to the nearby dog park at least weekly, go on two 20-25 minute walks (1mi+) daily, and play regularly throughout the day. He is very friendly and happy to tag along for any walks or play times, if the company is welcomed. I have a large crate available, if needed, and an in ground stake in the front and back yard with 30ft leads attached, allowing for plenty of time outside in shaded and unshaded areas. Food bowls are cleaned after every meal and pet waste is cleaned up after every trip outside.
About: Hi! I'm a lifelong animal lover who has been around pets my entire life. Caring for animals has always come naturally to me, and I've been dog sitting for ten years. During that time, I've cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. My experience includes daily walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, administering medications when needed, overnight stays, and extended care for a week or longer while families are away. I understand that every pet has their own routine, and I take the time to make them feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you're gone. Whether your dog needs an energetic walking buddy, a dependable sitter for a quick check-in, or someone to provide attentive care during a longer vacation, you can count on me. I treat every pet as if they were my own, providing plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and updates so you can have peace of mind knowing they're in good hands. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I am currently enrolled in an online graduate program, so I am available at any time you will need care for your pet, any day, night, week, or weekend! Initial Consultation: Before the pet owner leaves, I arrange a meeting to get acquainted with the dog and discuss their routine, dietary needs, medical history, and any specific instructions or concerns the owner might have. Establish Routine: Dogs thrive on routine, so I maintain consistency with feeding times, walks, playtime, and rest periods to ensure they feel secure and settled. Exercise and Play: Regular exercise is vital for a dog's physical and mental well-being. I schedule daily walks, engaging games, and interactive toys to keep them active and entertained. Nutritious Meals: Following the owner's guidelines, I provide balanced and timely meals, ensuring the dog receives proper nutrition. I also monitor their water intake to keep them hydrated. Safe Environment: I dog-proof the indoor and outdoor areas to prevent accidents or injuries. Hazardous items are kept out of reach, and I supervise the dog closely, especially if they're exploring new surroundings.

About: I've had pets all through late childhood and into adulthood. I currently live in an apartment that makes owning pets difficult, but I love nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch with a fluffy friend and a book. I've been able to get my "puppy fix" by petsitting for friends and family. I'm the one they call when they'll be out of town or working late to take care of their fluffy family member. I'm looking for more dogs and cats to add to my life long friend list. I currently work full time, 1 evening a week. I don't have any pets of my own to take care of, so i'm pretty flexible when it comes to taking care of others' pets. I love taking dogs for walks or hikes. I'm available to come and visit a pet to give companionship, meals, potty breaks, etc. I have experience with puppies as well as senior pets.
About: From long walks, to extreme belly rubs, I’ve done it all. As a former dog owner of 8+ years, I know firsthand that pets are family. I’ve cared for pups of all sizes, ages, and temperaments, from high-energy adventurers to senior snugglers who just want a cozy spot and some quiet company. Whether it’s long walks, playtime in the yard, or sticking to a precise feeding and medication schedule, I treat every dog with the same level of love, patience, and attention I give my own. I’m attentive to each pet’s unique personality and needs if your dog loves fetch at sunset or needs a little extra encouragement to take their meds, I’ve got it covered. You can count on consistent communication, detailed updates, and (of course) plenty of photos during our time together. I’m here to make sure your pup feels safe, happy, and at home even when you’re away. Let me know what makes your pet special, and I’ll make sure they get the personalized care they deserve! Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine whether it’s morning walks, playtime, or feeding, I always make sure pets get the attention and care they need. I thrive on creating a structured yet fun schedule that keeps dogs happy, healthy, and loved every day. I work from home and can be extremely flexible in between meetings or tasks so the pet comes first! To ensure a safe environment, I make sure windows and balconies are securely closed or have pet-proof screens. I also create a designated play area where pets can enjoy themselves without accessing unsafe spots or hazardous items. Along with providing plenty of safe, non-toxic chew toys, I keep their focus on fun, ensuring they’re entertained and not tempted to chew on furniture or anything harmful.
About: Aside from my two dogs and guinea pigs at home I have worked at a doggy daycare from October 2025-April 2026 due to it being our slow season and there’s not much work for me. I normally helped with the feedings and looking after the dogs, making sure they are behaving and no fights breakout while keeping the area clean as possible and taking them out for potty breaks every hour. I have done many volunteer sessions at the animal house in Huntley I love taking care of the animals while being able to give them some attention! Hi, my name is Halie. I’m 20 years old and animals have always been my biggest passion since I was a little girl doesn’t matter if it’s fur, scales, wet or slimy I can never get enough!!! At home I have 2 dogs Bobo and Church plus 2 super cute guinea pigs named B and Kevin all 4 are me and my familys everything I’m always trying to find new exciting things for them to do and try I also have worked at a doggy daycare, done lots of volunteering with dogs and cats, and I help out with watching my neighbors dogs time to time. Right now while I’m trying to find a new full time job with animals I’ve decided to give pet sitting for other people a try so for now I’m available Monday through Sunday all day long. I would not be comfortable hosting dogs at my house due to the fact I do not have a fence for my backyard and my dogs aren’t the friendliest towards other dogs i would never want my animals or someone else’s to be put in any dangerous situations like that but im willing to follow all care instructions at a clients home to ensure 100% safety happiness and health!!!! :)
About: Owned a dog for 13 years and enjoyed every second of it to his final days. All ages deserve love and special care. Would love to provide this to all pets! Recently left a career to go back to school and finish my degree. I am very close and want to focus on this without the stress of a retail fast paced environment. I enjoy loving animals and find it to be stress relieving and rewarding! I have a 2 acre yard that I take my cats out to everyday and all dogs are welcome to! I also live down the street from a dog park with a nice walking trail.

“Chrystal was amazing! If I could give her more than five stars, I would. I could tell by the daily adorable pictures she sent that my dogs were happy, safe and well cared for. When I got home, my boys were happy to see me, but there was absolutely no signs of stress from me being gone. They loved her!!!!”

“Carrie was absolutely fantastic. She watched our 3 pups & stayed at our home while we were gone. Our girls were spoiled and well taken care of and she left our home in great shape. I would 100% recommend Carrie to anyone looking for a great sitter for your fur babies”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Union
Taylor is the absolute sweetest, and best sitter I could ask for. When she first came for a meet and greet, she was warm and friendly, even played Rock, Paper, Scissors with my daughter. She sent pictures of my puppies, gave them loves and treats, and kept in close contact. I will absolutely be booking Taylor in the future.

Taylor was great, we have 3 dogs, two of which have medical issues. Taylor had to give one dog pills and another got shots twice a day. She handled them all with no issues. With 3 dogs you can almost trip over the dog tumbleweeds, no matter how much you vacuum. there were no tumbleweeds when we got home! Highly recommend Taylor.
Nancy was an excellent sitter! We had her housesit our 2 cats and senior dog who takes medication and she did a great job with all of them. She went above and beyond, and it was a huge relief having someone we trust to look after our animals while we were away. We will definitely be booking with her again. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Union walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Union maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Union choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Union. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
