About: Hi, I'm Claire, the owner of Hound & Hike, a professional dog walking and pet sitting service based in Hexham. After more than 18 years as a police officer, I chose to follow my passion for caring for animals by creating a business dedicated to providing reliable, compassionate and trustworthy care for your pets. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I've spent years caring for a wide variety of breeds, ages and personalities. From energetic working breeds and playful puppies to senior dogs, blind dogs and those needing medication or extra support, I understand that every dog is unique and deserves care tailored to their individual needs. Whether your dog enjoys adventurous countryside walks, relaxed local strolls, or simply companionship and reassurance while you're away, I'll make sure they feel safe, happy and loved every step of the way. I treat every dog as if they were my own, giving them the patience, kindness and attention they deserve. My policing career has equipped me with qualities that are invaluable in pet care: reliability, responsibility, excellent communication, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and confident in any situation. As a trusted key holder, you can have complete peace of mind knowing your home and your pet are in safe hands. At Hound & Hike, your dog's safety, wellbeing and happiness are always my highest priorities. You'll also receive regular updates and photos, so you can relax knowing your best friend is enjoying their day. I'd love the opportunity to meet you and your dog and become someone you can trust to care for them whenever you need. From 03/08, Hound & Hike is my full time role - offering dog walks and pet sitting predominantly Monday-Friday, but also occasional weekends. Please enquire 🙂 I am a trusted key holder, with safety and security being a priority - as well as giving your dog lots of love, care & attention (and treats if permitted!) I am DBS Checked, Dog First Aid trained and have a Diploma in Pet Sitting & Dog Walking and a Diploma in Canine Communication to further enhance my skills.

About: 5 years working with dogs in professional settings including rescue and a canine country club. “Very happy with my pups walks this week. Louise agreed to pick up these walks last minute as we had a cancellation with our other walker - this has really helped us out and we appreciated the walks she did with our dog. She took him on different walks each day and even gave him a bag of treats at the end. Thanks so much!”

About: I’m a veterinary student with hands-on experience caring for animals of different ages, sizes and temperaments. I have done a range of volunteering/placement at different shelters and organisations. I’m confident handling energetic dogs as well as older pets who may need extra patience and attention. Through my studies and personal experience, I understand animal behaviour, health and safety, and husbandry. I always aim to make pets feel comfortable, cared for and happy while their owners are away. I’m reliable, communicative and genuinely love spending time with animals. I am in my summer holidays of uni with few other commitments so have plenty of time to look after and play with your pets! I enjoy keeping dogs physically and mentally stimulated with games, enrichment activities and exploring local parks and new walking routes. I always adapt to each dog’s energy levels and routine so they feel comfortable and happy.

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats since I was a baby. Growing up my grandparents also owned parrots, bunnies, dogs of all sizes, cats, tortoises, fish, you name it…my parents always had dogs and cats. I also owned a dog for 11 years. I feel most comfortable around animals :) Being an older sister of 3, I grew up being the responsible one, caretaker and I’d also walk the dogs, train them, feed them and help my parents in any way I could. When I adopted my first own dog, I learned how much love I have to give and how much responsibility it takes to look after a furbaby. He was very anxious and reactive, so it was 11 years of learning and challenges, but he was the sweetest and goodest boy, right up until the end. I’m currently working full-time. For now I’m looking to combine my love for animals and building up a side income during my free time. I’m happy to look after and walk your pets during my free time on the weekends. I can drive which allows me to get to places a bit further out. I cannot have pets in my own home sadly. However, I’m happy to come in and check on your kitten or pooch while you’re away. I can also pet sit if needed and play with, feed and walk your dogs. I can also train and teach your dog (or cat, if they feel like it haha) some tricks. Work on their confidence by using gentle rewards and lots of patience on their walks. I have experience with reactive dogs and I know how important it is to maintain comfort and special care for the sensitive pups.

About: I’ve been a round dogs my whole life and own Duncan a brilliant boxer/staffie mix. In my spare time I offer dog walking services in my local area. Im currently in the process of setting up my own online business from home. The hours i put into this project are worked around my own dog. I walk him 3 times per day and would happily add your dog into that mix. I have a fenced garden for your dog to play if they choose to do so. if you wish your dog to be in a crate that can also be arranged.
About: I have been raised around pets my entire life, and am confident in my ability to care for them. I have cared for both family and friends' pets in the past when needed, and now have my own. I currently study part time, so have plenty time to care for your pets. With summer coming up, my availability is much more flexible due to the term ending :) A pet's safety and comfort is really important to me - I always make sure to provide the care needed and make sure that their owner is confident they are being cared for.
About: With 21 years of hands-on pet care experience, I offer calm, home-style boarding and sitting. I’m experienced with energetic dogs, anxious pets and seniors, and I stick closely to your instructions and routine. Safety comes first: secure doors/gates, lead rules, and careful supervision. I can support basic training habits (sit, stay, lead manners) and I’m happy to send frequent updates so you feel confident while you’re away. I work remotely, so I’m at home most of the day and can give pets plenty of attention, comfort and supervision. This means I can stick closely to your pet’s routine for feeding, toilet breaks, play and rest. I’m flexible with drop-off and pick-up times (with notice), and I’m available for weekday and weekend bookings depending on dates. Because I work from home, pets are not left alone for long periods and are supervised throughout the day. I keep a calm, safe home environment and follow your instructions closely (feeding routine, walking preferences, medication, and house rules). I’m careful with doors and safety checks, and I’m happy to send regular updates and photos so you feel reassured while you’re away.

I do always preface this as a graduates house as I'm more than happy to come to your home to look after your pup if that's preferred, my house has got a back garden where they can play, we have lots of tennis balls and ball launches, etc and we live just by the lovely fields on the town moor and Leazes park. About: Hi there! My name is João, I came from Brazil to do my PhD research a few months ago and, since then, has been working as pet sitting in Newcastle. I had to leave my two cats under my friend's care during the period I am here (sadly but also thankfully), so I sincerely can relate with the need of having someone responsable, trustful and experience to look after our littles. I have experience taking care of dogs and cats here, as well as of pets for family and friends in Brazil, including dogs, cats, hamsters and bunnies, which I consider positive experiences in developing a sense of how to provide assistance in different situations regarding sitter them. For me, aside from doing an extra money to support my period of study here, it will be a genuine pleasure to spend time with your pets and give them all the love I keep with me for my cats, and I will make sure to take care of your pets with the same attention I would like mine to be cared, ensuring they will be safe, respected and catered to all needs. As I have flexible times at university my schedule is always free. I am available all day every day of week so we can previously arrange the activities you need to be provided (including home visits, house sitting, walk in neighbourhood, take or pick from home to somewhere, or others). But as each pet has their own personality, before I can look after your pets I will need to know as much as possible about them, like routine, diet, any allergies, medicines, behaviour alone and with other animals, in and out of home, activities that they enjoy etc. If you feel that I can help you caring your pet please send me a message so we can chat about how I can help.
