About: Hi, I'm Claire, the owner of Hound & Hike, a professional dog walking and pet sitting service based in Hexham. After more than 18 years as a police officer, I chose to follow my passion for caring for animals by creating a business dedicated to providing reliable, compassionate and trustworthy care for your pets. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I've spent years caring for a wide variety of breeds, ages and personalities. From energetic working breeds and playful puppies to senior dogs, blind dogs and those needing medication or extra support, I understand that every dog is unique and deserves care tailored to their individual needs. About: I have been raised around pets my entire life, and am confident in my ability to care for them. I have cared for both family and friends' pets in the past when needed, and now have my own. I currently study part time, so have plenty time to care for your pets. With summer coming up, my availability is much more flexible due to the term ending :) A pet's safety and comfort is really important to me - I always make sure to provide the care needed and make sure that their owner is confident they are being cared for.

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats since I was a baby. Growing up my grandparents also owned parrots, bunnies, dogs of all sizes, cats, tortoises, fish, you name it…my parents always had dogs and cats. I also owned a dog for 11 years. I feel most comfortable around animals :) Being an older sister of 3, I grew up being the responsible one, caretaker and I’d also walk the dogs, train them, feed them and help my parents in any way I could. When I adopted my first own dog, I learned how much love I have to give and how much responsibility it takes to look after a furbaby. He was very anxious and reactive, so it was 11 years of learning and challenges, but he was the sweetest and goodest boy, right up until the end. I’m currently working full-time. For now I’m looking to combine my love for animals and building up a side income during my free time. I’m happy to look after and walk your pets during my free time on the weekends. I can drive which allows me to get to places a bit further out. I cannot have pets in my own home sadly. However, I’m happy to come in and check on your kitten or pooch while you’re away. I can also pet sit if needed and play with, feed and walk your dogs. I can also train and teach your dog (or cat, if they feel like it haha) some tricks. Work on their confidence by using gentle rewards and lots of patience on their walks. I have experience with reactive dogs and I know how important it is to maintain comfort and special care for the sensitive pups.

About: I’m a final year vet student (about to graduate) who has had 7 years of experience both in vet practices and in pre-clinical placements such as dog walking and boarding. This means I have plenty of hands-on experience with both dogs and cats! I am at home for the summer after finishing 5 years at vet school! I will be free during the days and evenings to take the best care of your pet :) I am happy and willing to comply with requests and considerations you might need to keep your pet happy and safe! I am careful and will always make sure your pet is happy and healthy.

About: I'm a 22-year-old dog lover and I've been looking after dogs all my life! I have a long term dog I babysit! A gorgeous 7 year old beagle spaniel cross called "Dennis." I have lots of references- especially Dennis' mum and dad and I have special training in anxious pups, overly active pups and training in senior doggies! I'm great with puppies too and I'm very active myself so they'll be getting that 'wearing -out' walk they deserve! I'm currently working part time but I'm available early mornings all week until around 10.30 am every day apart from Wednesdays. I'm free in the afternoons/ evening's most days as well bar a couple of days but that's all rota dependent as I'm a bartender so we'll have to liase ☺️ I live in a shared house, all dog lovers and all with lovely dogs at home and all willing to care and play with your little one! I do always preface this as a graduates house as I'm more than happy to come to your home to look after your pup if that's preferred, my house has got a back garden where they can play, we have lots of tennis balls and ball launches, etc and we live just by the lovely fields on the town moor and Leazes park. So perfect for both short, long and even playful walks 🐕

About: I’m a veterinary student with hands-on experience caring for animals of different ages, sizes and temperaments. I have done a range of volunteering/placement at different shelters and organisations. I’m confident handling energetic dogs as well as older pets who may need extra patience and attention. Through my studies and personal experience, I understand animal behaviour, health and safety, and husbandry. I always aim to make pets feel comfortable, cared for and happy while their owners are away. I’m reliable, communicative and genuinely love spending time with animals. I am in my summer holidays of uni with few other commitments so have plenty of time to look after and play with your pets! I enjoy keeping dogs physically and mentally stimulated with games, enrichment activities and exploring local parks and new walking routes. Im currently in the process of setting up my own online business from home. The hours i put into this project are worked around my own dog. I walk him 3 times per day and would happily add your dog into that mix. I have a fenced garden for your dog to play if they choose to do so. if you wish your dog to be in a crate that can also be arranged.

About: I grew up with all kinds of animals, training young ones and tending to injuries or ongoing needs. From terriers and spaniels to farm felines and couch cats, and most inbetween. I don't have my own at home now, and have been boarding or walking for friends to fill the fluff shaped gap. Keen to share my space more often and give a safe spot to play and rest while owners are away, or just for walkies and check ins. I'm fair and fun with dogs, love to make their brain and nose work with hide & seek games. Cats are royalty and so entitled to their own agenda; no pressure from me to make fast friends unless they want to play or come for cuddles. I'm in and around most of the day, taking time work on some passion projects at home. Often find myself in the park or a cafe, boarders very welcome to accompany me! One evening per week I work out of the house for 2-4 hours, which can be worked around. I've worked in support for many years, and see sitting quite the same! If visiting their home, first off cover the basics of food, water, access to outside and play. Keeping the environment safe and clean, noticing signs of distress and adapting to what they need as much as possible. At home, there's comfy places to curl up and space to play. The kitchen is ideal for a quiet area to eat and decompress if they need it, with managed access to the yard. I have a fenced yard with a shrubby boarder for toilet and run around time. Some access to neighbours' lawn.

I have a fenced garden where your dogs can go to the toilet. Walks will be in safe locations away from roads and dangers. Dogs can be crated if needed. We will work to meet your individual needs.

I have recently started my own dog walking and pet services business so my schedule is flexible. I have a van which is fully insured to carry dogs. I am happy to care for your pets in your own home with full respect of your property. I currently don’t offer home boarding in my own home as I have pets of my own.
