“Taking on a totally unknown dog from a cross-country road trip, IS a risk. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. About: Recent retiree has plenty of time to give you peace of mind while caring for pet. Throughout my life, I raised 8 family dogs (Labrador Retriever, Huskies, Weimaraner, Papillons, Corgi, Boykin Spaniel), helped raise 3 grand-pups (Long-haired Dachshund, Goldendoodle, Labradoodle) and pet-sat for several extended-family dogs while their humans were away on vacation. 5 of the 8 family dogs I raised from puppyhood. 6 of the 8 family dogs I brought through basic dog training. During the initial months of my retirement, I would walk our family’s 9 year old Goldendoodle 1-2 miles each morning; however, he unexpectedly succumbed to cancer, recently. My attention is fully available for caring for your pet. At one time, my home had 4 dogs each different in size and personality, but they all got along great! My back yard is large and fenced in. This is the first time in over 30 years my home is without personal pets, although I continue to pet-sit grand-pups and other extended-family dogs. Your pet will be treated with love and affection like my pets!

About: For years, I've walked the fields and trails along the Potomac River with a furry companion - most recently with Flannery, my family's Great Pyrenees who loved romping in Virginia Bluebell flowers and sinking her paws into mud. Animals have always been a part of my life. I've mucked stalls, herded ewes and lambs, evaded headbutting rams, cuddled pigs, milked goats, trimmed hooves, and named a farm dynasty of cats and kittens names like "Nefertiti" and "Isosceles" (after Egyptian royalty and geometry terms). I'm available for daycare and dog-walking most days except for Sunday mornings. Your dog can stay indoor in my apartment and outdoor in the fenced-in yard, as needed. I live in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for walking. If additional space is needed for running and walking in the open countryside, I am also happy to take your dog on a "field trip" to my family's home in the countryside. I am comfortable walking large and medium-sized dogs, and I've provided pet-sitting for a variety of breeds. I take a gentle approach and enjoy making shy pets feel relaxed.
