“Got it! Here’s a more natural version with your note about being repeat customers: ⸻ We’ve used Kimmie previously, and there’s a reason we keep coming back—she’s amazing. She takes such good care of our dogs, always making sure they get their medicine, playing with them, and giving them tons of love and attention. It’s clear she really cares about them, and they’re always happy and relaxed when we get home. We feel so lucky to have found her!”

“lindsey was great with our animals! we have an older one who can be unsure of new people and she was great with him! she sent pictures while we were away and kept everyone well taken care of!”
“In a last minute scramble Taylor was able to watch Eli and house sit for us. She was very flexible and we appreciate her showing our pup so much love. 10/10 recommend! Thank you again!”

About: I’ve been around dogs and various animals in the past. I have always enjoyed sharing my space with them and getting to know their personalities. With that being said, I’m officially giving pet sitting a try! I currently work full time at the DFPS Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. I’m mainly looking for clients who need sitting over the weekend. I build trust with pets by respecting boundaries and allowing them to get to know me on their own accord. I do this by respecting their space, showing them that I am there to take care of them, and engaging in their favorite activities. Whenever they feel they can warm up to me, I’m there to respond to them positively.
About: I’ve been a big dog lover since I was practically born! I love all kinds of the dogs, the big, the small, the crazy, and the shy ones! I’m good with medicine and scheduled feeding sessions! I’ve taken care of dogs that have medical issues, such as seizures or joint issues. I can handle the hyper puppies and cuddle the lazy senior dogs❤️ I’m ready to treat your dog with love and patience! Hi! My name is Faith and i’m 20 years old. I work part time right now so i’m free to care for any animal during the day and night! I work at a horse ranch between 3-6 pm during the weekday, so I can be with your dog all day! I do have dogs of my own but they will always stay home! When house sitting or drop in visits, I will make sure everything is safe during visits or outside time! I’m good with crating dogs or doing whatever they need to feel safe around me
“Justinh took a last minute request for house sitting and was communicative and professional the whole time. We’ll definitely hit her up the next time we go out of town!”

“Lilianais is an absolute dream sitter. I cannot recommend her enough. As nervous dog parents, she was incredible. Our two Shih Tzu puppies and our Corgi mix loved her. Our home and our babies were so well taken care of and our experience with Lilanais was fantastic.”

About: Passionate pet lover with over 10 years of hands-on experience running a 501(c)3 dog rescue right here in Texas! 🐶❤️ From playful pups to senior sweethearts, I’ve cared for animals of all kinds (just not the slithery ones—no thanks! 😅). Safety is always my top priority I keep a close eye on every pet to make sure they’re happy, healthy, and well-loved. I also have extensive experience with medical cases, so you can rest easy knowing your fur babies are in caring, capable hands. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members and give them all the love they deserve! 🐾 I am currently working from home so I have plenty of time. I play with the dogs between calls and then it's fun time for the dogs after work All pets, whether they're at my home or someone else's home, are and will be spoiled rotten. Happiness is my guarantee when it comes to your furbabies.
About: I am a stay at home mom and I have 3 dogs of my own. I’ve lived at my husbands family’s farm for a couple of years so I’m comfortable with multiple different animals. I’m currently a stay at home mom so I have an abundance of free time. My most busy day is Mondays where I run all of my household errands. I have cables and leashes for dogs that I take care of and I am very open to your animals needs, wether they are at my rv or your house.
“Nothing but good things to say! Andrea was super responsive, provided the best updates, and it was clear our pup loved her! Will definitely be reaching out in the future- highly recommend her!”

“Katelyn kept us informed about Bella throughout our vacation. She sent lots of pictures too. We will definitely be using her for all of our long-term dog sitting needs.”

About: I grew up in an animal shelter. Sounds crazy right? Well, it's true. My mom has always worked around animals(and still does) so I was always right by her side. Whether it be at animal shelters, helping with adoptions, walking, feeding, giving medications. Anything to be involved ! Then she became a Veterinarian. So of course, when I got old enough, I worked at her clinic. I've truely worked with animals my whole life and have always had animals of my own. I am currently working as an Animal Rescue Coordinator each day but would love to further my pet care business . My fur babies are my children and I treat them as so. You will always be able to find comfort knowing that I will treat your fur babies with the same love and care as my own! My favorite thing to do is spend time with my 3 dogs. A few things we love doing are going to the dog park, playing fetch, frisbee, going to the lake to swim, agility, hiking, and of course getting frozen yogurt! I would be more than happy to spend time with your pup doing these things. I'm sure they deserve it! I can't wait to spoil your pup and put your mind at ease knowing he/she is loved, safe, and happy while you're away. Your fur babies deserve the best! I currently work full time in VetMed but I have Fri-Sun off. This is when I’ll offer pet services. I’m hoping to offer full time care eventually. I care for pets in my home as if they were my own. They are allowed on furniture/beds if the owner is okay with this. I have doggy gates for separation of other animals if needed. Pets are never left unattended in my home. If I must leave for any reason, your pet must be kenneled in my home.
“Megan was absolutely awesome! My sister and I have labs, which are obviously high maintenance dogs, so we were hesitant in using rover, but MAN are we glad we met Megan! She tended to their every need & loved on them extra for us. She sent daily photos and updates and even did some cleaning up around our house (amazing right?!). I felt so safe and secure with leaving the dogs with her and will absolutely being going back to her when we both have to leave town again. Thanks for being the best, Megan!”

About: I have owned 3 dogs over the past 20 years. I have watched, walked, and cared for the dogs, cats, birds, turtles, and reptiles. I have trained my own pets and I’m very comfortable meeting new animals. I’m a part-time remotely working licensed realtor so I’ve been fingerprinted and FBI background checked for your safety and peace of mind. I’m currently working part-time from home, mostly on my computer so I have plenty of time to play, walk, and care for your pets. I will carefully adhere to your pets’ schedule, routine, and instructions to make sure your pet has a safe and happy experience in my care.
About: I’ve been fostering animals and volunteering at shelters since I was a kid, so I’m really comfortable around animals and enjoy being with them. I have fostered pregnant cats, kittens who required medical care, and dog sat for friends and family, too. People always describe me as gentle and caring with animals! I’m a college student with a flexible schedule and plenty of time to care for your pets! I’m available most afternoons after 4 PM and on weekends, so I’m a great option for evening walks, drop-ins, or weekend care. I primarily care for pets in my clients’ homes, where they feel most comfortable and can stay in their normal routine. For dogs, I provide walks, playtime, feeding, and lots of attention based on their energy level and needs. For cats, I handle feeding, litter box cleaning, and give them as much interaction (or space) as they prefer. I always follow the owner’s instructions closely to keep things consistent for your pet. I make sure they get plenty of care, attention, and a calm, safe environment while you’re away.
About: My name is Sydney M. I am a sweet and loving 19 year old girl. Born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana. I have 2 dogs of my own, I have had dogs my whole life! I love them! Love going on walks and playing with animals. I adore cats and dogs, mainly little dogs because big dogs frighten me a little bit... if they are well trained and don’t tug on the leash while walking, they are okay! Available anytime everyday, I have another job at platos closet, but I’m mostly free for the most part. I would love to walk them anytime it makes me happy:) I am very flexible! Contact my cell phone at any time. Thank you and I look forward to meeting!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Crossroads walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Crossroads maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Crossroads choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Crossroads. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
