“Here’s a glowing review for Kimmie: We couldn’t be happier with the care Kimmie provided for our dogs! From the start, she was attentive to their needs, making sure they were comfortable and happy while we were away. She played their favorite games, kept up with their routines, and even reached out when needed to clarify instructions, showing how much she truly cares. The daily pictures and updates were such a wonderful touch, giving us peace of mind knowing our pups were in great hands. We’ve already booked her again—she’s fantastic! Highly recommend Kimmie for anyone looking for a reliable and loving pet sitter.”

“In a last minute scramble Taylor was able to watch Eli and house sit for us. She was very flexible and we appreciate her showing our pup so much love. 10/10 recommend! Thank you again!”

“Dorian was terrific. From the moment we met him we felt confident that our kitty and our home would be well taken care of. He did not disappoint. We would gladly have him stay anytime we are away.”

I’ve taken care of dogs that have medical issues, such as seizures or joint issues. I can handle the hyper puppies and cuddle the lazy senior dogs❤️ I’m ready to treat your dog with love and patience! Hi! My name is Faith and i’m 20 years old. I work part time right now so i’m free to care for any animal during the day and night! I work at a horse ranch between 3-6 pm during the weekday, so I can be with your dog all day! I do have dogs of my own but they will always stay home! When house sitting or drop in visits, I will make sure everything is safe during visits or outside time! I’m good with crating dogs or doing whatever they need to feel safe around me
About: I have grown up having dogs my entire life. I have two family dogs named Comet who is 15 years old and Lucy who is 8 years old. I love my dogs and have taken great care of them. I also regularly walked a dog named Lucy (different from my family’s dog Lucy) twice a week for a year while in college along with many other walks, drop-in visits, or sitting opportunities over the past six years. I enjoy walking, sitting, and doing drop-in visits for dogs. They bring me great joy, have such fun personalities, and get me outside for some exercise and fresh air. I am a social worker who is currently working on transferring licenses from states. With that said, I am currently very flexible with my schedule. I will always prioritize your pet’s needs. I usually like to see what the dog is doing in their own space or in a new space like my house so I can learn their preferences. I am always in the same room as the dog and never leave them on their own. My house is very clean and organized. There is plenty of living room and bedrooms space for them to roam around.

“Tamara has been grooming our Emma Rose for over 10yrs now, and Roscoe’s whole 5 yrs! They just love seeing her come through the door. It makes my fur mommy heart so happy, to not have to worry about them, when we are traveling. Thanks so much Tamara!”

About: I've had dogs by my side for 20 plus years. I've cared for scared rescues, seniors, puppies, and high energy fosters. I've potty trained dogs and got my 2 doing a series of tricks. I understand the gentle confidence of the alpha helps dogs trust. My two are good with other dogs and have both been boarded with others and had others in our care. I've got a doggie door and fenced yard with squirrels for entertainment. I've got a nice 3 mile nature loop for walks. Dogs...I love them. I'd be glad to put your mind at ease and have yours hang with my pack. I work from home and have ultimate flexibility at the moment so I can walk dogs on your schedule and adapt to your needs. I don't leave the home for more than a couple hours for errands when I'm sitting. If your needs require something different, I am able to be flexible. We have a doggie door here and an ample fenced yard. I also have 2 other small dogs to keep yours company and play along with. I sometime book two families at once. If one of the dog families is a repeat client, and I have confidence the mix will work, your dog may get an extra playmate or two. If you are uncomfortable with that possibility, just let me know so I don't double book. Because I care for many dogs, please be sure your pups are up to date on their flea treatments to ensure we keep the environment comfortable for all who pass through.
“This was the second time Alexandra took care of our dogs and cat. Both times she took excellent care of our pets. She provided updates and included pictures. Would book with her again.”

“Kate was incredible ! Always provided updates and photos and communicates really well. She also may have left our place cleaner than it was when we left! She’s awesome! Highly recommend!!”

About: I have been in the veterinary field for 10+ years working for a non profit organization. I have been house and dog sitting for the past 10 years on the side for mostly the same clients. I send daily pictures and updates, and hardly leave the house when I'm sitting unless otherwise specified or asked. I want to keep you and your fur babies as comfortable as possible. I am able to administer any kind of medication needed such as oral, injectables, or even special ointments. I can help with any special needs, and am always aware of schedules for feedings and any special diets. Early morning walks or late night potty breaks are not a problem and I am available for whatever may come up. I work mostly from home with the occasional day or two in office which means I would be able to provide the most care and attention. During the week, M-F, I typically only provide sitting but may have an occasional drop in. I follow all rules and will never have guests over, unless otherwise specified, to ensure your pets are comfortable in their own home. I am very cautious with pets when going on walks.
“Tabitha was amazing! I had to leave for a family emergency and she took the best care of my pets and house leaving me stress free! Continuous updates with pictures every morning afternoon and evening with updates throughout the day! Her communication is top tier!”

“Gayle was great! Stayed with my senior dog for several days. Sent regular updates and left my apartment cleaner than it was when I left! She will be a great sitter for your baby!”

“Jessica did a great job watching our little dachshund, Dash. He loved cuddling and playing ball with her! We will definitely hire her again and recommend her to care for your furry loved ones.”

About: I am very flexible and easy to get in contact with. I had my own dog since I was a child and lived 3 years with my sisters cat. I’m currently working a stay at home job so I can take your pet out for daily potty breaks if needed or stay at your place if you would prefer. I am happy to help in any way I can and make your pet feel as comfortable as possible in whatever environment possible : )

The average cost of House Sitting in Detmold is $60 per night as of October 2026. Most bookings cost between $60 and $60 per night. On Rover, sitters set their own rates based on factors such as their experience, the length of care, the number of pets, and your pet’s specific needs. As long as your booking dates and pet profiles are accurate, the price shown before you confirm is the total, including any booking fee.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Detmold walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Detmold maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Detmold choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
