About: Raised by cats and trained by many dogs, animals are my favorite people. I've cared for animals all my life and rescued them in an official capacity since 2008. I am the founder and director of a small 501 c3 nonprofit animal sanctuary for neglected animals from high kill New Mexico shelters and hobby farms: from cats & dogs to reptiles, goats, rooster, hens and pigs. I am particularly fond of bully breed dogs as I have extensive experience fostering and rescuing them. It is for that reason that I have a preference for animals that were adopted, but I LOVE them all. My parameters of where I can housesit are based on my ability to provide the best care for both your animals and mine. I am native to Santa Fe and have many clients on the Eastside and South Capitol, but generally, homes I overnight in must in safe areas, have secure fencing for the animals, and be smoke-free and sparing in their use of harsh chemicals such as moth balls and harsh cleaners because breathing is important to me, and I am sensitive to those substances. I have a LOT of experience with special needs animals, especially congenitally deaf dogs. I prefer caring for animals that are spayed/neutered. It is generally better for them, for both health and behavioral reasons, as well as ethical ones. Anyone who has volunteered in a shelter in New Mexico will attest to this. I will always make exceptions for animals that are too young for those procedures. Cats were my siblings as a child. I probably have a bit more of a cat personality than a dog. I relate to them, and they can generally sense that. I always like pet parents to tell me what their cats' routine is so that I can try to duplicate that because change is scary for sensitive creatures. I am grateful that I have a pretty flexible schedule so I can meet almost any cat's expectations. I have had cats since birth and have been fostering bully breed dogs, and special needs and hospice care dogs since 2008 and adapt to their needs and requirements as individuals. I see animals as equals or superiors. They are my favorite people. I can also provide empathetic care for pet goats, potbelly pigs, sulcata tortoises and chickens.

About: We’re a husband-and-wife dynamic duo with a lifelong love for animals! Between the two of us, we’ve cared for a wide range of pets — from dogs, cats, chickens, horses, cows, rabbits, and ducks to small pets like rats and hamsters. I grew up on a ranch, where my father taught me to love and care for animals of all kinds. My husband grew up surrounded by dogs and small animals, developing his own deep bond with pets. Today, we share our home with three cats and four dogs, and we’re passionate about treating every animal we care for like a member of the family. We’re a husband-and-wife team who both work full time, but we have plenty of availability in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends. We love starting and ending our days with playtime, walks, and quality care for the pets we look after. Your pets will always get lots of attention, love, and reliable care built into our daily routine. We are current with all of the safety and care procedures for cats and dogs. It is our goal to not only ensure safety and health, but to help your animal feel comfortable and loved.

14. Dana W.
About: Hi I’m Dana and I would love to take care of your floof! I have had Old English Sheepdogs since I was born, my first boy would guard my crib at night, so I like to say I am a true lifelong sheepie/dog owner. Since then I have raised 5 from puppy and cared for through old age (7 total) with 2 currently in home. I am a lifelong animal lover as well and would be happy to cat-sit for you too. My friends and family have always relied on me to take care of their pets when needed, and it’s something I’ve always enjoyed and am very passionate about. My life centers around my fur babies’ wellbeing and routine, so I would absolutely love to share my love and experience with you and yours. Being a busy floof mama myself I understand the importance of flexible hours and rates for busy floof parents. Whether you need in-home sitting, extended stays/boarding, play dates at the park, or just some walking, I am here to provide dedicated care and love for your floof babies! I also understand how important trusting someone with your pet is, and I promise to make you and your fur babies feel completely safe and at ease working with me! I’m currently working part-time remotely from home so I will have plenty of time to fully dedicate myself to your pets’ needs. I have 2 of my own but have family avail to take care of them as needed to be available for your pet(s) around the clock! For daycare/overnight boarding I have a fenced in yard with lots of space to run and play, and 2 friendly 3yo sheepdogs (65lbs) to keep yours company that adapt to a new dog’s personality and are very friendly w/dogs and ppl. If your pet prefers more special alone time that’s ok too as mine can be put away in a gated area separate from yours and taken care of by family. My home is a very sanitary/clean environment but dogs are allowed on all furniture so don’t worry about them getting into anything. My boy is always getting into mischief so every room is dog proofed so they can’t ingest or destroy anything, plus they will always be supervised. If I am staying at your home or dropping in I will make sure your pets routine stays the same and they have everything they need. I will also provide pictures and text updates throughout the day to always keep you informed and make sure you feel completely confident and comfortable trusting your fur babies with me. Same goes for walks I will use the route tracking so you always know where we are!

15. Danielle C.
“We have relied on Danielle’s services several times. Each time our dogs have been well taken care of which allows us to travel worry-free. In addition to watching our dogs, Danielle has also watched our 2 children. Our kids always have fun with her and continue to ask ‘when will Danielle be back?’ If our dogs could use words, I’m sure they’d say the same.”

16. Kienna R.
“Kienna was a fantastic pet caregiver! She understood how important our pet is to us, followed all directions, showed up on time and served as a real companion to our pet. This was especially wonderful because we had to go out of town and leave our dog while she was seriously ill and needed a gentle, friendly companion during her difficult time. Kienna really made Sadie, our Airedale, as happy as possible. Anyone who engages Kienna to care for their pet will be very happy with their decision.”

17. Meghan Q.

He is attentive to the owner’s and dog’s needs, and he communicates efficiently and promptly with the owner. If you have an active doggo, he’s definitely your guy. Mel takes them on hikes, drives, walks, parks, and will snuggle up to your dog at night to ensure love and safety for them. Awesome caregiver hands down!!”
