We have used dog sitters in 38 states over the past four years, and we have never had our dogs react to us like, “Oh, you’re back…” when we got home! Carrie came in the night before her scheduled arrival time to spend more time with them before we left very early the next morning, and except for a few quick trips over the three days, she never left them. She is impeccably clean, well-mannered, and loves animals. Obviously, she has our highest recommendation for anyone needing help with their fur babies.

This was our initial time using Rover. We are very particular with our fur babies. Kristina was very welcoming and assuring. We had a meet and greet with just her and then with our girls. I left having every confidence in her ability. We were gone for a week and she sent daily photos and updates. She treated our girls like her own. We will definitively be using her services again, and I highly recommend her. Thank you so much!

About: I stand out through my dedication to delivering unparalleled care tailored to the unique needs of every dog. With specialized expertise in training puppies and providing attentive senior care, I bring a deep understanding of canine behavior and health. I prioritize safety, comfort, and personalized attention, ensuring each furry client receives nurturing and enriching experiences. My commitment to fostering strong bonds and creating positive, memorable interactions sets me apart as a compassionate and trusted caregiver at Rover. I am retired and looking for walking activities to keep me busy with the things I enjoy the most, PETS!! I love being around them as much as possible. When caring for pets in my client's home, I prioritize their comfort, well-being, and adherence to any specific routines or instructions provided by the owner. Here’s how I approach different pet care services: Dog Sitting: Daily Routine: I maintain the dog's regular feeding schedule, ensuring they have access to fresh water at all times. Exercise and Play: I engage the dog in activities they enjoy, such as walks, playtime, and mental stimulation to keep them active and happy. Comfort: I provide cozy resting areas and ensure the environment is safe and secure. Medication: If required, I administer medications according to the owner's instructions. Dog Walking: Safety First: Before the walk, I check equipment like leashes and harnesses to ensure they are secure. Exploration: I take dogs on stimulating walks in safe areas, allowing them to explore and enjoy their surroundings. Hydration: I bring water for hydration, especially during warmer weather. Positive Reinforcement: I use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior during walks.

About: I've taken care of dogs, cats, rabbits, and fish during middle school and high school as well as during breaks during college. Friends and family have relied on me to take care of their animals from as little as a weekend to as much as 2 weeks at a time. I am currently a student at Appalachian State University and have plenty of time in the morning, afternoon, and evening time frames to take care of animals. I do not currently have a pet-friendly residence, but I am capable of walking, feeding, and playing with animals at their homes and within their neighborhoods.

Lauren did a phenomenal job with our fur babies. From the time she replied to our request she took the time to listen and understand our challenges. Then she came over and took the time to familiarize herself with both of our babies ensuring there wouldn’t be any issues. Great job and great person.

We couldn’t be happier with our pet sitter! She was incredibly attentive, caring, and sweet with all of our pets. From the beginning, she made us feel completely comfortable knowing that our animals were in such loving and capable hands. Charlie was our biggest concern because she can be a little sensitive and needs extra patience and attention, but our sitter went above and beyond to make sure she felt safe, comfortable, and loved. She took the time to understand Charlie’s personality and needs, gave her so much care and affection, and kept us updated, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She was also wonderful with our cats, making sure they were cared for, comfortable, and getting the attention they needed. It was clear that she truly loves animals and treats them like family. She was reliable, thoughtful, communicative, and genuinely kind. We are so grateful for the care she gave Charlie, our cats, and our home. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate to care for their pets!

Iliana came in and saved our vacation! Our puppy got sick a week before we had a nonrefundable vacation planned. Luckily she recovered before we left. However, we didn’t just want to leave her with anyone. Iliana came and stayed ant our house while we were gone. We wanted someone to keep an eye on her 24/7 just in case. She administered meds while we were gone and even helped with the chickens.

About: Over the years, I've taken care of a few different animals. I've watched chickens, horses, dogs, and cats for my grandparents while they were away. I've also had experience with dogs with disabilities. I have two German Shepherds; one is blind, and the other has joint issues. My love for my pets is infinite, and I promise I'll share that love with your pets. My future pursuit is to study veterinary medicine. I work at an animal hospital from 8am to 5:30pm. My weekends annd evenings after work are free giving me an opportunity to spend all day with your fur babies. Your pet safety is a priority. In no way will I put your pet in any danger, I’ll do as you instruct, I’ll follow your food guidelines, medicine, etc. as for your home I do not plan on doing anything other than what you tell me to do, I won’t go in places I’m not allowed and if I make a mess somewhere I’ll immediately clean it up. In conclusion I will treat your home like it’s my own and I will most definitely love your dog and care for them the way I love and care for mine.

About: I have worked Animal Rescue, Fostering, Rehabilitation, and Adoptions the last 6 years! I understand pet parents, can easily follow instructions, and will stay alert to your pet needs! I will value your pet as I would my own! I currently work remotely, so I am extremely flexible. If not house sitting, I can make as many or little stops at your house as needed. I prefer to not board animals at my home. I do not have a fenced in yard, so it is not very suitable for a dog.

About: I have loved animals since I was a small pea. Additionally, I’m in school to become a Veterinarian! I have experience with a variety of animals! I’ve had my own sugar gliders, as well as a python! I’ve taken care of a parrot and a Rosie-cheek bird! At home, we have 2 dogs and 1 cat. I would say I am the primary caretaker of them, I wash them, feed them, clip their nails, and deal with ear infections! The kinds of dogs I’ve had experience with are but not limited to: Golden doodles, tea cup yorkies, chihuahuas, Shih Tzu, pit bulls, huskies, etc. I am able to adjust to your fur babies personality! Whether they are a more mellow and chill type, or hyperactive and love to play! And of course, anything I might find concerning I would be reporting to you! I assure you that your pet is in probably the best care that it could be in! I’m currently working a part-time job and I’m a college student [but on summer break]! My schedule just depends on what days and time I work at my other job! But I love animals so much that I guarantee I will find a way to be with your fur baby! I am more than willing to take dogs or cats on a walk, as I am a very active person! I also enjoy little car rides with them or going to dog parks! The way I care for your pet is primarily determined by what you have for them and their environment! If any doggies or cats are brought to my house then they would get to meet my own doggies and I have a very very spacious backyard! However it is not fenced in!

FAQs for House Sitting - Taylorsville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Taylorsville on Rover is $31.08 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 348 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Taylorsville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Taylorsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Taylorsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Taylorsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Taylorsville. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
