“We had a great experience with Rachael! She was able to accommodate our last-minute request, was incredibly flexible with timing, and made the entire process stress-free. Most importantly, we felt completely confident that our puppy, Zeke, and cat, Ophie, were in excellent hands. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were being well cared for while we were away. We would happily book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.”

“This was our first experience having someone come into our home to watch our fur babies. Emily was incredible, she kept us updated on how they were doing and sending us pictures daily. We are very happy with her care and will be calling her again. Our fur babies loved her as well!”

“Again, Sarah was wonderful in taking care of Lucy. She was available for my last minute request and managed everything well. She even watered my plants! Sarah always goes above and beyond. Lucy always seems very happy and content upon my return. I would highly recommend her.”

“Danny was awesome with our German Shepherd mix rescue pup! She can be timid around new people and she warned up to him very quickly! He was responsive and sent photos and updates! We’ll be using him as a sitter again soon!”

About: I've worked with pets my whole life, and have worked with dogs professionally for over a year. I bring a depth of knowledge and a willingness to learn that help me adapt to the needs of every animal. I work full time, but primarily have weekends and weekdays evenings and nights available. So if you are looking to take a weekend getaway, or need someone to come check on the pets in the evenings, I'll be happy to work you into my schedule. I make sure pets are fed and cared for to their owners specifications. Medical needs are seen to as a priority, and hygiene, bathroom, and attention needs are always a focus when I am caring for pets.

“Cyan was wonderfully communicative during our house sitting booking, and shared lots of pictures of our older dog during the visit. We would definitely recommend them for any pet and house sitting opportunities. Thank you!”

“Kristin is absolutely amazing! From start to finish, she provided outstanding care for our dog, Bruce, and truly went above and beyond to make sure he was happy, safe, and comfortable while we were away. She was extremely professional and reliable—always on time, communicative, and proactive. Kristin sent regular updates and photos, which gave me complete peace of mind. It was clear that Bruce wasn’t just being looked after; he was being loved. When we returned home, Bruce was relaxed, happy, and clearly well cared for. Kristin’s dedication, attention to detail, and genuine love for animals truly set her apart. We can’t recommend her highly enough—she’s our go-to from now on!”
“Brandy was fantastic! My dog is not easy due to anxiety and fear (she is a rescue). Elly didn't take that long to warm up and once she did they were able to stick to her regular schedule. Brandy was understanding and compassionate to where Elly was emotionally. She took her for great walks and played with her. Brandy sent pictures and lots of updates. Also Brandy was respectful of our house and left it as she found it. I would highly recommend her to anyone and will definitely ask her back. Thank you!”

“What a dear person. Nadine is a natural with knowledge and a love of animals. She showed great judgement, and was kind enough to let me know when our cat was in for the night. She was thoughtful, and clearly is great with animals. Our cat was thoroughly in love.”
“Tim was a very professional and helpful young man. One of our dogs is very shy with new people. Tim made it a special point to make Albert feel comfortable. I was completely satisfied with Tim. I was very confident in leaving him with our boys. We had no hesitation with having Tim as a guest in our home. I highly recommend this young gentleman.”

About: Hello, thanks for considering me to help care for your family! A little about me- I’ve had dogs my whole life. A lovable quirky Golden and quite a few Akitas. I’ve found every dog has unique needs and especially adoptees and rescues, need extra patience and understanding to gain your trust. I like to be mindful and cater to each dog’s individual needs on a case by case basis so they get the best possible care, which they deserve. I am reliable, dependable, and trustworthy. I will treat your dogs as if they were my own, with care and love. I have experience with both puppies and aging dogs. At any stage in their life I’m happy to do what I can to make them feel comfortable and cared for. I have cared for cats and dogs with daily check ins and in-house care. I feel strongly that both parties be comfortable with the pet care. You, the owners, should feel comfortable with me watching your pet(s) just as I should feel confident watching them. This is not just a way to earn some extra income (while that is important) your pet(s) deserve the best and if we are not a good match both parties are welcome to decline the care if we feel that’s best so your loved one(s), you, and I all feel good about the situation. Communication is key and as I mentioned if either of us feel unsure or unsafe it’s not worth the compensation. I hope this little blurb is not a deterrent but rather an extra layer of assurance why I am a good candidate for your dog(s) by being honest, fair to all parties, and prioritizing everyone’s safety. That being said I’d love to meet you and your four-legged family members! I have experience with a variety of cats, Golden Retrievers, Akitas (up to 130 lbs), German Shepards, Terriers, Boxer-Pit mixes, Labrador’s, and quite a few other mutts. I like dogs, big or small! If there are any specific instructions, medications, specific training commands, check-in requests, or any other requests please let me know! I’m more than happy to work with you to confirm details and instructions and make sure you’re comfortable leaving your little family members, while making the process easy and stress free. Thanks for reading my profile and considering me to help watch over your creatures! I truly love animals and look forward to taking great care of yours. FLEXIBLE! My schedule is a little different every week and can be flexible as needed (especially if planned ahead of time). I’m happy to discuss scheduling options with you to cater to the timeframe(s) your pet(s) need care. Let’s chat! I take extra care when in anyone else’s space, whether that’s your apartment, house, condo, whatever your home looks like, it warrants respect, privacy, and care. I have experience with dogs being put in their cages when left alone, for dinner, or overnight. I also have experience with dogs sleeping in the same square foot I do! (And by that I mean I am their human-sized pillow so they can sleep comfortably haha). All depends on what you prefer, happy to chat about your preferences. This is your pet, your choice. I will respect your requests, just communicate what you expect for your dog/cat/creature and we’ll make sure we’re on the same page so you and your pet are comfortable. Just let me know and I’ll make it happen!
“We had a wonderful experience with Nikera! She stayed in our home while we were away and took great care of our pets and home. She kept us updated throughout the trip with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our home was well cared for, and it was clear everyone received lots of attention and love. She also went above and beyond by staying late to accommodate our travel schedule, which we truly appreciated. Her flexibility and kindness made a stressful travel day much easier. She was communicative, reliable, and easy to work with from start to finish. We really appreciated knowing our pets and home were such good hands while we were away and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Stoddard walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Stoddard maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stoddard choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stoddard. On Rover:

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
