“Donna was great to work with. She replied quickly to our request for a catsitter, communicated well, was flexible when we asked if she could add more hours, sent photos of our cat, responded right away to our texts/call and left our house just as she found it. Highly recommend.”

“We've had Morgan watch our pup and two kitties several times and we love her! She's dependable, caring and totally trustworthy (she stays at our house while we are gone). We would highly recommend Morgan!”

About: I have had dogs all my life, to chihuahua to heelers. My dogs are seniors and need a lot of care and special food. My heeler has lots of energy, I’m accustomed to high energy dogs. I work part-time, I work 8-12am on wensday, Thursday and Sunday. After that I can come and spend as much time as you need me to take care of your fur baby’s I have a 5 acre property, with a fence so they won’t be able to escape, If your dog needs to be in a create I am able to get them in there.
“Angela is wonderful. She's caring and knowledgeable, and my dogs have become great friends with her dog Striker. I feel so lucky that I can leave my dogs and feel confident that they are in good hands. Thank you so much, Angela.”

“This is our second time using Veronica, and she has been great. She took care of our dogs, cat, plants, and other things we requested. She sends daily update photos and loves our on pets while we're gone.”

“Amber did a fantastic job. She made sure our nervous dog felt safe and got all the exercise that she needed. She communicated every step of the way and we were very comfortable the whole time. Would absolutely recommend her to anybody.”

“We are so thankful to have found Karolina! From the moment we met her, we could tell that she truly loves animals. She stayed in our home and kept our senior dog and rambunctious younger dog for a week while we were on vacation. I tend to worry about leaving them because I know my two pups are a handful, but Karolina kept them very happy and content! She shared daily photos and updates, and she did a great job following all the instructions we left her. We returned home to happy dogs and a spotless house! Many thanks, Karolina!”

“As always, Madison did a great job! The kitties are happy and still weird and my place is in great shape. Lots of great pics and updates. Such a relief knowing my boys are in good hands.”

“Phenomenal! Best dog sitter we've had. Our pup is 18 and needs some tender loving care with full-time attention. Bridgette understood exactly what we we wanted. Took great notes. Reiterated what we asked so she had clarity. While we were gone she checked in regularly and shared pics of our pup. The small details, like cleaning the main area, washing sheets and remaking bed, and the note were top-notch.”

About: I have taken care of my dog for several months, kept up with his training and spend time playing. Puppies need extra attention to grow into healthy adults. Adults need just as much affection and some play time. I work full-time weekdays but I am available in the evenings. Saturdays are free for me to play with dogs and take care of them. I can manage keeping up with a dogs training and take care of their needs at the same time! Who needs their dogs loved on or watched over?
“Isabelle did a great job with our very challenging handful! She’s very kind and patient and was easy to talk to. If she’s open to it, we’d definitely have her watch Buda again.”

“Samara was the perfect fit for my dog who has separation anxiety. Her calm, confident demeanor kept Buster relaxed and happy for the entire time we we gone. Samara was very flexible and asked great questions. I will not hesitate for a second to book her again!”

About: I have grown up in a house full of cats and dogs, so I am no stranger to the late night zoomies or hairball. I have dog and cat sit my whole life and still love it! I am currently unemployed and doing side hustles, I have the time to dog walk, cat sit and stay the night if needed! I would love to take care of your pets! I live in a spacious apartment but prefer to pet sit at the clients place. I have one cat at home and have raised her since she kitten.

“Anna did an excellent job housesitting & watching my two dogs. She sent me lots of updates and pictures while we were away. She also took great care of the house. We will absolutely continue to book her!”

“Molly did a wonderful job with our two chihuahuas. We were in town for a wedding and she was very communicative and flexible. The dogs warmed up to her quickly due to her kind, calm presence. I would definitely use her again.”

“Katarina followed instructions well and took consistent and great care of our pets (2 dogs) while away. Recommended sitter. She can handle cats, smalls dogs, and big dogs.”

“We like Matthew and were very pleased with the care he provided for our 2 dogs and our home while we were traveling out of the country for 3 weeks. Our dogs love him and he was always very understanding of their unique personalities, behaviors & preferences. He provided updates with photos throughout our time away and was very responsive to our messages as we checked in on our dogs, despite the 8 hour time difference between Washington State and the United Kingdom. We would gladly trust him with our dogs & our home again in the future!”

“Finding someone we can trust with our girls has always been the biggest reason we don’t travel much. But after working with Morgan, we’ve finally found that person! She was absolutely amazing with our Abby and Penny, treating them with so much love and care. We got daily updates and photos, which totally put us at ease. It felt like we were still connected to them even while we were away! When our flight got delayed, Morgan went above and beyond and stayed late to make sure the girls were fed and walked, which was a huge relief. If you’re looking for someone reliable, kind, and who genuinely loves and will treat your fur babies as if they were her own, Morgan is your girl. We couldn’t be more grateful!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sterling
Donna was incredible with our senior dog, Zooey! She sent super frequent updates with adorable pictures, and she took amazing care of our girl! My dog was happy as I clam when we returned from our week-long vacation, so I know she had a lovely week with Donna. I will be booking with her again next time Zooey needs a sitter!

It was a pleasure meeting Karolina and having her watch our 2-dogs for the July 4th Holiday. She was great with spending LOTS of time at our house, walking Stewie & Odie a couple times a day and communicating with us throughout the weekend. We will definitely have her watch our dogs in the future!

Sabina did such a wonderful job house sitting for us and watching our two big dogs! One of them has a couple of quirks and requires multiple long walks a day and Sabina was able to accommodate that. She was super communicative and sent us pictures of the doggies every day so we could feel at ease during our trip! Our dogs seem very happy, and our house was spotless coming back home. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you, Sabina!

The critters were happy, every was pretty chill when we got home which meant they had a good weekend with Lindsay. It's comforting to feel like home and pets are in good hands. Lindsay sent photos, kept us updated and communicated really well prebooking and during the stay.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sterling walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sterling maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sterling choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
