About: Hello! My name is Mia. And growing up our house was always full of animals mostly due to my dads ability to have strays “mysteriously” follow him home. Which then caused me and my sisters to follow in his footsteps which then led to a house full of dogs and cats. I have experience with dogs of all ages and sizes. But for most of my life we only had large dogs but as of 3 years ago we adopted a chihuahua mix named Snooki from the humane society who became our first official small dog of the home. Followed by a French bulldog, brownie, who we were fostering and then came to adopt. In my pet sitting experience I have had seniors and puppies. Each dog has their own unique personality that can require patience, consistency, and giving them lots of attention. I am comfortable with maintaining feeding schedules, routines, and providing an environment that feels like home while also tailoring to their needs. As a pet owner myself I know the importance of trust, safety, and communication are to pet owners. My goal is to make sure that I give safe, comfortable and loving care to your pet that gives both you and your pet a peace of mind. I am currently a college student that is taking 3 classes. Monday-Thursday are when my classes are from time 8:30am-4:00pm. But Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s I have free time. I care for pets in the clients home by following the instructions or rules that were given to me. And also my keeping the dogs routine and environment as close to their “normal” as possible.

About: because I'm not working at the moment I can focus on your dog all day. because I potty trained my dogs I can help with continuing your potty training if needed. I really love my dogs and I know how it feels to leave your dog with someone else so I will make sure you get daily pictures if you like. I'm currently just enjoying the summer and looking towards watching your fur baby. I don't work at the moment. I stay home all day as well. I have a fenced yard. I will make sure your dog stays in the same room as me so I can keep an eye on them at all times. I don't like cages. but if cages are needed than I can :)

Taylor was an absolute pleasure and took perfect care of our almost 2-year old Chicory. Taylor was very communicative and sent us lots of updates, photos and videos. This is so helpful when you are just starting to build a relationship with a new pet care-person. They followed all the directions and gave Chicory lots of attention. Chicory has a lot of energy and Taylor kept up with him and made sure he was tuckered out. We could just tell that Chicory was loved and cared for as Taylor would have cared for their own fur baby. Not only that but our condo was also left in perfect shape. Taylor even washed the sheets and blankets and remade the bed. We will definitely be reaching out to them again for our next trip.

Nina is the best! I needed to leave town for the day and Nina was the perfect person to hang out with my doggos. Nina is kind, easy to communicate with and punctual. As a first time Rover user, Nina could not have been a better fit. My dogs immediately loved her and she sent photo updates during the day. Looking forward to having her back!

About: I Have taken care of dogs for 10 years, and have assisted in the birth of two litters from the same dog, I will engage with any dog. I will bathe them, feed them, walk them. I've done it all. I also am a big reptile fan and willing to learn how to care for majority of them. I currently have two tortoises and two snapping turtles in my backyard. I'm working 1 job part-time but looking to be more engaged with Rover. I am available for home sitting on the weekends more than in the week. But I would love to come see your pet later in the day! I gain your pet's trust. When first meeting let them come to me, and make sure to be safe and welcoming towards them and enrich them with their toys and make sure that they know I'm here to have a good time with them.

Once again Abril did great with my pups. One of my pups had an emergency while I was gone and Abril took such care with him and made sure he was comfortable. She took him to the vet for me because I couldn’t back in time and made she sure communicated with me during the entire visit. So happy to have her look after my pups.

About: Always had pets growing up, primarily mid to large sized dogs and random critters. While I can't currently own any of my own, I would love to hang out with and give some attention to yours! Right now my schedule is 8 days on, 6 days off. So essentially, all day every day every other week I can be available for walking and sitting, or just home visits mid day to let pets ourlt for potty breaks etc. I do not currently have the ability to bring any pets to my home, but depending on the set up at the home of the client, monitored backyard runs or leashed walks would probably be the starting point of interacting with new pets.

About: I love all dogs and I am very excited to help you out and take care of your dog. I grew up on a ranch I love animals. Your dog will be taken care of by a very happy and responsible person. If your dog needs medication of any sort that is no problem I am willing and able to give it to them. Walking?, running?,Dog Park ? I will do it. Just pick, one, two, or three. Even better pick all three. I normally take walks around the canals and through the fields your dog will enjoy coming with me. Your dog will be allowed inside the house and outside the house as needed. I have three children all over the age of 10 that will provide them with plenty of play as well.

About: I am a seasoned lady who loves to take care of animals! All are unique in personality and I love figuring them out! I have had many dogs live good long lives, and I am well versed in Senior Care. I will keep your home secure and your pets safe, while you are gone and your pets and I will have fun along the way! I am retired, so my daily routine will revol around you home and pet needs. I am up for exercise for myself and your dog, walking is my first choice! Cats are a bit harder and it generally is play, also I am not opposed to leashing and taking your cat outside if that is part of their routine. I need to sit at your home, and I will care for it like it was my own. I notice and decifer the animals que's very quickly, so after a morning potty, usually it's time to eat. Then we would get in some exercise. After that a nap is usually in order.

About: I have taken care of animals since I was 12. My parents, friends, grandparents, neighbors, in-laws, and others have depended on me to take care of their pets. I have watched pets of all types, ages, and health needs. So if you need overnight care, drop in visits, or just a good walk in the person for you I’m currently working part-time. I can do overnight stays any day. I work primarily afternoons and nights so I am usually available in the mornings for visits/walks or night visits/walks. If you would like me to stay during the day I would be gone from 1/2pm-7/8pm I do not offer any services in my home. But in your home I would feed, walk, give medications, clean up after, and love on your animal.

FAQs for House Sitting - Steam

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Steam on Rover is $32.74 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 67 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Steam. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Steam walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Steam maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Steam choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
