“We are very picky with whom we leave our Molly and on who we trust in our house . When we met Ellie we immediately felt very comfortable. She has proven to be excellent! Molly was well taken care of and our house looked nice and clean when we returned! Looking forward to being able to travel without worrying about Molly. 5 stars all the way!”

“Great sitter for our two spoiled dogs! We were on an international trip and Zoe was very flexible and able to do overnights which eased our minds with a 14 week old puppy. Will use again!”

“Justine is outstanding! I never worry about our animals when we go out of town and leave her in charge. She handles our reactive dog with ease and understanding and we just really appreciate the care she takes of them!”

“Ashley was absolutely fantastic! She watched my two dogs overnight. My newest pup had some anxiety and acted aggressively and Ashley was great, she kept me updated and worked with Oliver to make him more comfortable. Couldn’t recommend enough!”

“Sharon was great with our harley she helped out with walking her and getting her use to going out at night again. Sharon kept us informed of everything that was going on with harley and how she was doing and sent us pics. We will definitely use her again.”

“Hannah was absolutely amazing! We left our two pups at home with her for 8 days and never once had to worry!! She is definitely a dog person and played with our puppy and loved on our older dog. I don’t even know if our dogs had a chance to miss us!”

“Huge thank-you to Trina! She cared for my dog during a work trip that turned chaotic when I got delayed coming home. She not only kept everything running smoothly, but did it with such kindness and reliability. (I also forgot to take out the trash before leaving for said work trip and she graciously took care of that for me upon her arrival - thank you again, Trina!) Couldn’t ask for a better sitter!”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for over 10 years and have a lifelong love for animals. As a dog owner myself with two dogs at home, I understand how important it is to find someone who will care for your pets the same way you do. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet loves long walks, playing fetch, cuddling on the couch, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’m committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, administering basic medications, potty breaks, exercise, and providing plenty of attention and affection. I also know how reassuring it is to receive updates, so I’ll send photos and messages throughout your pet’s stay or visit to give you peace of mind. My goal is to create a fun, safe, and stress-free experience for both you and your pet. I treat every animal as if they were my own, and I can’t wait to meet your furry family members! I currently do work full time but I do create my own schedule and am pretty flexible so we can work around the hours needed for you and your pet! I do currently have two male dogs who are 8 and 9 years old. They both are very friendly and very playful. They play with puppies and older dogs very well and they’re very diverse with sizes of dogs who they are around. If your dog is aggressive to other male dogs, this won’t be a good fit for you. However, i’m happy to have an introduction to make sure everyone is comfortable. We tend to take a lot of walks and play ball in the yard throughout the day. During the summer we swim in the pop up pool we have for the boys and get the zooms out!
“Samantha was absolutely amazing! She stayed overnight with my pup and two fosters. I got lots of picture updates and she left the house clean and organized! I highly recommend and will be using her again! Thank you!!”

“Selena took care of our pup on short notice and did a great job! She made us feel super comfortable by meeting us/our dog a few times before we left for our trip. She sent photos every day and our usually shy pup warmed up pretty quickly!”

“I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation thanks to Hunter. Lots of pictures and videos of Mouse enjoying her time with her new friend. She kept up with all her medicine and different foods. Came home to a clean house and a happy dog. Couldn't ask for anyone better. I will definitely use Hunter for anything I need in the future!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Starkey is $45

Hannah is great! Right at the outset (actually at the meet-and-greet in advance of our reservation), we could tell she'd be awesome with our two pups! She was very communicative before and during our vacation, checking in along the way with photos and updates. We would love to book with Hannah for house- and dog-sitting in the future!

My dog is very nervous around new people, but CeCe was patient and let him come to her. She provided several updates and many photos during her stay at our house, which made us feel at ease. Our fur baby and house were well cared for, and I would not hesitate to book her again. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new sitter.

Samantha and her daughter Hannah did a fantastic job caring for our two dogs and house during our recent trip. Samantha sent cute pics of our dogs every day we were gone which allowed us to relax knowing they were happy. She was patient with our shy, anxious dog and let him slowly warm up to her, she prepared chicken and rice dinners for the pups as we requested and even washed the sheets and towels to make things easier for us when we got home. We will definitely book with her again!

De'Asia stayed with our 66 lb sweet but dog-reactive handful for several days. We told her she was welcome to walk him but didnt have to. She took him all over thre neighborhood successfully while keeping me well informed of how he was the whole time. That alone would have been above and beyond. My house was cleaner than I left it, possibly cleaner than I've seen it in months. She treated both my house and my dog like her own. I told my husband to make room because I was going to beg her to move in. Heck. We might go out of town just to give the dog another chance to stay with her. I've had a lot of rover sitters over the years and De'Asia is the best we've ever had. I strongly suggest booking her, as long as its not while Im also out of town.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Starkey walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Starkey maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Starkey choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Starkey. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
