“Katie was very attentive and caring to our two cats while we were away. She made sure they were given attention and love and sent us details on how they were doing as well as adorable photos ❤️”

“Odalys has been amazing with our 2 pups! She has been very dependable and has great communication. She left detailed summaries and pictures with each visit. We had her come 3x a day for a week and I’m so grateful for all of her help. I highly recommend her services for pet care! 😊”

“She came and assisted while also watching my boyfriends dogs. My other sitter had failed me while I was in Delaware and Anna saved the day. Thank you so much for dropping by to check in my babies 🥰”

About: Hi! I’m home for the summer and excited to spend time doing something I love, caring for animals. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, and I recently lost my own, which reminded me just how much animals mean to me. While I don’t have time for a full-time pet right now, I still stay involved by volunteering every week at a local animal shelter and helping care for the cat I live with at school. I also worked as a vet assistant for a year, so I’m experienced with pets of all ages and temperaments. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or anything in between, I’ll treat your pet with the same love and care I gave my own. I’m currently taking an online summer course with a very flexible schedule, so I’m available throughout the summer for pet sitting, dog walking, and drop-in visits. Since I’m not working right now, I have plenty of time to give your pet the attention and care they deserve. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, or overnight stays, I’m happy to help however I can! In your home, I follow your pet’s routine closely, feeding, walks, playtime, and any special instructions, so they stay comfortable and happy while you’re away. I make sure they get plenty of attention and care!
“My dog IMMEDIATELY loved Toni, and she doesn't like most people without several visits to warm up to them. She followed the care instructions perfectly. We can't wait to have her back!”

“We couldn’t be happier with the care our 15-year-old dog received. Over the years, she has always struggled when we’ve gone out of town. She has separation anxiety and would often tear up books or shoes, and when we came home, she was usually stressed and upset with us. That has completely changed with this sitter. Every time we’ve come home, she has been calm, happy, and clearly well cared for. It gives us so much peace of mind knowing she is with someone who genuinely cares about her. She consistently goes above and beyond, and it shows in every interaction. We are incredibly grateful for the love, patience, and attention she gives our dog. Knowing our sweet girl is safe, comfortable, and happy while we’re away is priceless. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.”

“She was very nice and my cat seemed to really like her. We were nervous to leave him alone for so long but seeing how well he warmed up to her really eased our nerves.”

“Sonja is terrific! My kitties loved her from the moment she came in. When I got home, my kitties were calm, had full bellies, potties were clean, all was in order. I couldn't be happier with the care Sonja provided, I 100% recommend her.”

About: Hi there! My name is Sam and I have experience sitting for all types of animals. From cuddly Pyrenees, and scary-smart German pinschers, to spunky chinchillas, their best cat friends, and curious pythons. I have been through partial behavioral training for dogs (and their humans), and have experience with animal hospice situations, as well as behaviorally aggressive dogs. I prefer to keep the animal's care as consistent as possible. The more details you have of your preferred method of walking, reward, or preparation habits, the better. Trust and care are my number one goals when it comes to animal sitting. Not just with the four legged babies, but with the parents as well. I know how important it is to feel comfortable with your care provider, and what a treat it is to know that you can trust someone with the care of your loved ones. Also, aren't dogs just perfect? I work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and am currently on telework, so my weekly availability is early morning, and late afternoon. I also volunteer at the Old Dominion Humaine Society and occasionally foster for them at my house. I have one <1 year old puppy, and I have a home with a large yard but no fence. That means all foster dogs get leash walked always and there are many mind teaser toys for rainy days. I feed in crates and make it a safe space for them to decompress.
About: My family and I have fostered cats and dogs and provided hospice care for a dog with cancer (1 year) until she passed. I understand all breeds and their unique energy needs and activity levels. Medical care and aging limitations would be understood and can be tended to with your pet care needs. I work full time M, T, Th, F, Sa 8am until the deliveries are complete (can range from 2pm to 6pm). When I am not home, there are other family members present (spouse works, dad is retired). In the afternoon and evenings, my children will be attentive to any animals kept at my home. I enjoy connecting with all animals. Our weekends are more hectic with soccer season in full swing. Some weekends we may be elsewhere in Virginia with limited care depending on the weekend, April through June. We have a small fenced in yard with the ability to take your pet out for long, short, or frequent walks. My kids would provide any extra loving and attention while your pet is in my care. I kept a friend's cat for a week. When that week was up, her cat didn't want to leave. Whenever I visit them, the cat finds me to snuggle while I am around. Animals can sense the love and kindness within our family.
“Rita and Matt did a wonderful job caring for Roxie! They were both super attentive and with it being my first time using Rover services as a pet parent, I felt comfortable with them and at peace knowing she was well taken cared of during each visit.”

“This was our first time using this service and we will definitely use again. Jessica was wonderful! She was very sweet and helpful! Loved getting the pictures and Rover card with updates! Thank you!!”

“Svetlana was amazing with our pups! She connected with them the first time they met and I knew I could trust her with their care. It is evident how much she cares about each and every animal! I would highly recommend her services 😊”

“Jessica was great. She managed to get my dogs to go out in the rain (which they did not want to do!). Even my cat was comfortable with her right away and he’s usually a little skittish with new people. I will definitely be booking with her in the future.”

“Heaven made our mini vacation better with providing excellent care for our pup. Athena loved her visits with Heaven and the videos and pictures were wonderful additional. Our first time using Rover and Heaven will be our go to dog sitter/walker from here on out.”

“Michelle was amazing with our dog and two cats! She gave great updates and pictures. Her communication was fantastic. She gave lots of extra love to our animals, especially our anxious dog. We will definitely reach out to her for future pet needs!”

- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
