“It's been a minute since I used Rover (eight or nine years goes by quick). I had a great Rover sitter out West many years ago when there was no whites on his face, butt, and paws. He was just a black pup then. He walked, ran, and leapt pain-free. 'Mack', like his owner, has just simply gotten older, and is described with whatever adjectives come with the word, 'old' since. Enter Angela. I reached out to her a couple weeks before I was leaving for a week, and she responded promptly. She came to my house a few days later, over the weekend, to meet him. Mack is vocal, overly so at times, and is protective of me, in spite of my attempts to dissuade that behavior, constantly, for 13 years. Get near me, he barks. Just the way it is. Angela gave him a treat here and there while being unwavered and kind to him. He was nipping her heels as I showed her around my place... ...still unwavered and kind. I knew she was the right person, and she took the job which was staying at my house with him for a week. She walked the old man every day, took excellent care of my house (absolutely not asked of her), easily navigated a farmer's dog diet, and fired happy/action pictures of my dog to me every evening. He was definitely loved. He showed his belly in return. He doesn't do that for just anyone. I could tell he was kinda bummed it was me in charge again when I returned. I wanna keep Angela to myself, but it's only fair to recommend her. She's responsible, beyond trustworthy, and truly great with doggies! Highly recommended!”

I currently am living and working remotely on Cape Cod. Enjoy staying active in my free time. I live in a quiet neighborhood with a large yard. I also live with my fiance who is a registered nurse! We keep our home clean and tidy for any pets who stay.
“Emily was amazing! She sent tons of updates and I came home to an exhausted pup! She even did laundry after an accident (puppy problems, not Emily’s fault!) I can’t wait to work with Emily again!”

“So glad I found taylor! My life is full of last minute things and finding someone who is awesome, trustworthy and reliable on the peninsula is GOLD!. She came by to meet the dogs and the vibe was so great, my dogs settled in with her quickly. I got daily updates and pictures (sometimes I was extra and needed more, I missed them!!) She left the house clean and tidy. Even washed the sheets from the bed 🥲 left a sweet note on the counter and I truly hope she meant it when she said she would watch them anytime because... that will definitely be used! Thank you Taylor for being a sweet, kind soul, that my doggos and I trust!”

“Zuzana was amazing! She walked Roosevelt every day and sent us cute photos and videos. I was afraid Roosevelt wouldn't want to come home. We will use Zuzana again for sure. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve been taking care of peoples pets since I was 14. I have two golden retrievers, one of which I have had since I was 6, so I am experienced with high energy pups! I also have one cat who is a little prickly so I am experienced with difficult cats. My mom says I have a “way with animals” and I would love to meet yours! I am a recent college grad so my schedule is pretty open as I look for a full time job. I can work weekends and weekdays- day or night! Pets in my care are always guaranteed a fun time! I am energetic and love to play. I always stick to regular feeding and bathroom times to ensure the best care!
“Wonderful and caring. I’m so happy to have found such a great person to watch over my two dogs. It helped to make our time away less stresssful for us all. Thank you Karen!”

About: I've always had a furry friend and love all dogs. I've helped train working service dogs and worked in a puppy nursery caring for dog moms and their litters. I'm currently working part-time and have free time. I'm home all summer long and looking for ways to enjoy my day and do something I love to do. I have my own dog at home that is super friendly and live in a quiet neighborhood which is great for walks and meeting other people and their dogs.
“Jackie is an excellent, highly dependable, compassionate dog sitter and we would highly recommend her! She took great care of our golden, Cam, who loved his special one on one time with her. She spoiled him with great walk, massages and treats for the week we were gone. We enjoyed the pics and updates, knowing he was in the best hands. I think Cam was disappointed to have his holiday with Jackie end but we look forward to having her back again. Thank you Jackie! Two paws up from Cam🥰”

“Dana was an A++ sitter, and I can't recommend her more highly. Our two pups loved her immediately! Our older dog has dementia and a heart condition, requiring a lot of care and medication--Dana handled it like a pro. She also send us pictures and updates regularly. Knowing that our dogs were in such capable hands allowed us to really enjoy our weekend away.”

“Caroline was amazing! Took the time before housesitting for an in depth phone call and then a meet and greet with Charley to go over all details. Was wonderful with our dog, taking her on daily hikes and adventures and sending lots of communication and photos. Treated our home like her own, even watering our plants while we were away! Definitely recommend!!”

“Iben and Trevor were great! Our two pups loved all the cuddles, hikes and playtime. Happy to host them in our home while we were on vacation (helped our dogs feel much less anxious staying in their own beds in our home); they sent us lots of photos and videos and helped us feel comfortable being away from our pups.”

“Panny was great! Joy needs seizure medicine and can get picky about taking her pills. Panny brought cream cheese to tempt her and it worked. He was great with the dogs and left the house was neat when I got home. I would definitely use him again!”

“Would highly recommend anyone to use Paige for dog sitting. Our dogs Herman and Ariel took a liking to Paige instantly. Paige was very attentive and playful with the dogs. I would use Paige again when we come back to the Cape next year!!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Wellfleet
Sasha was great with Riley and kept her happy and fully exercised while I was out of town! They were extremely helpful and communicative, especially as we had to be creative on how to deal with winter storm Hernando in the midst of their stay. Thanks so much Sasha!

Kendra was very positive and responsible and our anxious dog Bonnie was very calm when we returned, which showed she had been comfortable with Kendra. Kendra brought her charming young daughter with her to dog sit which limited how long and how often she could walk Bonnie.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 230 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Wellfleet. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Wellfleet walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Wellfleet maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Wellfleet choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
