“Michelle was one of the best dog sitters that we have ever used. She created a calm and peaceful atmosphere for our usually nervous dog. As a matter fact, our Dog Winnie would have stayed longer with Michelle and had a good time. Michelle gets a 10 star recommendation from us! As a matter fact, we are going back to the Cape at the end of May, and we’ve already rebooked with Michelle.”

“Chelsea did a great job watching our puppy all week while on vacation. She sent pictures and updates daily and put us at ease. She was able to take our dog on a very short notice and on the final day was able to bring her to us. When I got our dog back I even noticed that she is now better potty trained and able to walk on the leash which is a huge plus for us. If you are considering having your dog taken care of with no worries, I highly recommend giving Chelsea high consideration.”

“Our Portuguese Water Dog had a great stay with Julie! We met ahead of time and she showed me her space and where the dogs play/sleep/eat, which helped ease my nerves about leaving him with someone new. She sent updates and pictures throughout the weekend. I would absolutely use Julie again in the future and recommend her to anyone in the area looked for pet care!”

“Zuzana did an amazing job taking care of our lab. Gizmo was a great host and our dog had a blast. Zuzana also went out of her way to purchase a new collar when ours broke last minute. Thank you so much! Would book again 100%!!!”

“My wife and I recently moved out of state from the Cape. We could not leave without writing one last review of Karen. We have left our dog Annie with Karen many times, sometimes for just a night or two and sometimes for over a week when taking longer vacations. We cannot begin to say how much we and Annie will miss Karen and Juni. Karen is the kindest person you could ever meet. She loves dogs and immediately took Annie in as though her own. She is a dog whisperer. Annie loves her. She is truly a remarkable dog sitter and human being. We could always relax when we left Annie with her as we were totally confident in her ability to handle any situation that might arise as well as know she always was providing exceptional care and a happy and loving experience for our pup. As for Juni, Annie loved playing with her, sleeping next to her and just being with her whenever she would visit. Juni is the sweetest, most friendly and happy lab. Annie will miss her terribly. Annie would begin barking with excitement the moment we got off route 6 for Hyannis. This always made our hearts sing. Karen and Juni are simply exceptional. My wife, Annie, and I will forever miss them.”

“Millie had a terrific weekend. A shy dog, Maria took the time to integrate her into her family activities. She came back happy, bathed and exhausted from her weekend. Maria was also very accommodating with our schedule- we dropped off early and picked up earlier than planned. She was gracious and helpful. Maria also sent great pictures of Millie from her weekend - which were passed around the table at the graduation dinner.”

“Debra is clearly a lot ver of dogs. I felt very comfortable leaving Pebbles in her care. She spent an inordinate amount of time showing my wife and dog her facility. The home is orderly and clean. I would leave pebbles in her care again.”

“Isabella "Izzy" and Connor were great! They took in our boy for several days for us while we were busy with family. Responsive and communicated very well. Thank you guys!!”

About: I’m a lifetime animal lover, and get along terrifically well with dogs. My house is the go-to for friends and family needing a place for their pups to stay. I am retired with volunteer jobs part-time (2mornings), during the week. I’m never away from home for more than a few hours during which time my dog-friendly feline can either ignore your dog or keep them company. I’m home the majority of the time. Cozy corner in my den seems to be everyone’s favorite hangout and spot for their bed. The ilving room has multiple sunny spots for napping throughout the day. We will take several neighborhood walks a day and if dog and owner are willing, I go to Thompson’s field in Harwich where they can romp.
“My fox terrier, Pepper, boarded with Emily for a week. Emily took great care of Pepp, with daily walks and lots of fun & exercise. Nice to have Pepper stay with someone who is obviously a dog lover!”

“Sally was fantastic!! We are incredibly pleased by her service. She communicated well and sent lots of pictures. Sally was flexible to adjusting the pickup to be one hour earlier which was very kind. She is personable, friendly, communicative, and compassionate. Even though it was a rainy weekend she still made sure our puppy had outdoor time and even took her for a beach walk. Thank you for everything Sally!”

I’ve been active on Rover for over a year, doing walks, drop-ins, and house sitting pretty consistently. I love getting to care for all different kinds of dogs and making sure they feel happy, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I work full-time Monday–Friday from 8:30–4:30, with a lunch break where I can run home if needed. I’m always available on weekends and usually spend that time going on long walks, so I’m happy to include pets in my weekend plans! I treat every pet like my own! I follow their routine, give them plenty of attention and exercise, and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care.

I understand that every pet has different needs, personalities, and comfort levels, and I’m committed to providing a safe, clean, and loving environment tailored to each one. My goal is for your pets to feel right at home while giving you peace of mind that they’re being cared for responsibly! 🐾❤️
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - South Harwich
Madaket took care of our Bernese for the weekend. She seemed to have a great time. I liked that Madaket has a large outdoor space. Our dog looked happy in all the pictures. When we picked our girl up she kept nuzzling Madaket, good sign she was well taken care of.

Jackie was awesome. We are so glad she was available to watch our dog for the weekend. He was in great hands! She is trustworthy, kind, and has a great connection with animals. We look forward to coming back to the cape so our dog can get to see her again. Thank you Jackie!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their South Harwich home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your South Harwich.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your South Harwich sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
