I successfully home-trained my rabbit and hand-trained and hand-tamed four parakeets, helping them feel comfortable and bonded with me within their first week at home. My housemate does have a well behaved dog, but their dog stays in his suite and we alternate using the yard so there would be no interaction unless desired. He is a professional dog walker and provides doggy daycare to his clients, mostly small dogs, all friendly. If desired, we can socialize non-reactive dogs but otherwise we keep everyone separate and alternate use of the yard.
