About: I have two dog of my own, a cat and any farm animals. I’ve handle animals age ranging from 15+ to freshly born. I’ve also taken care of canines with different medical conditions (cancer, diabetes, etc). My eldest pup currently has stage 2 kidney diseases I’m a stay at home mom. I do put my 3/4 of my kiddos on the bus and have to been home to get them off. The youngest is with me. I have 5 areas, my eldest pup is leash only. We go on long walks in the woods all the time. My youngest pup is very well trained, we take him just about everywhere when we have the chance.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Matisa was professional, reliable, and genuinely cared about my dog. Matisa provided regular updates and photos, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. It was clear my dog was happy, well cared for, and received plenty of attention and affection. I came home to a relaxed, healthy pup, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Matisa again. Highly recommend Matisa to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to watch their pet!”

“We used Renee as our dog walker this school year. She was amazing and our dog loved her visits. She was always on time, never cancelled, and gave us such peace of mind. We received cute photos of our pup from her visit each day ensuring us that she was happy and taken care of.”

About: I’ve been around and taken care of pets since I can remember. From providing exercise, affection, mental stimulation and delivering puppies—I’ve had the pleasure of acquiring a well-rounded experience and skill set with animals. Currently, I’m in school from Monday-Friday and only working part-time; so I’m free all weekend and on weekdays after 2:30 to care and check in on pets! I have a fenced in yard and 16 acres of grass to provide exercise for any needy pups! I do have a pool but pets never leave my eye when they are taken out. I can crate pets if needed or if that’s where they feel safe. Besides the occasional visit of 1 shy cat and 2 calm, elderly dogs from family friends, our household is pet-free. Perfect if you have a pup that doesn’t get along with others!
“Mackenzie did a wonderful job taking care of my elderly kitty who needs extra attention and meds. I almost didn’t leave over Christmas because I was so worried about him, but she eased my concerns with thoughtful care, attention to detail, and detailed notes. I highly recommend Mackenzie and will be working with her in the future.”

“We adored Barbara!! I was a nervous wreck about leaving Eugene with a sitter (prior he had always gone to boarding) and she was such a comfort! We got an update and photo for every drop in. She even did some light training with him. Eugene LOVED her and was so happy when she visited. She provided great communication and answered any questions”

“Mariah was wonderful with our fur family. She spent time with everyone and sent pictures of happy pups/cats to me daily. I could tell the dogs were happy since they kept bringing her gifts of everything they found on the floor. Even the cats who don't trust most people came out of hiding for her. I will definitely ask Mariah to sit again.”
“Amazing and attentive with your animals. 10/10 would recommend. Also was able to help us out and continue care when we had unplanned travel issues happened on short notice. Will absolutely be using her again!”

“Amazing job. My dogs never even noticed we were gone. They were well taken care of, and I would definitely recommend Elizabeth to anyone in need of pet sitting services.”

“Mandi is amazing! She came out to meet my timid chihuahua before our drop-in visit and was so sweet with him. She is very professional and clearly an animal person! We will definitely be asking her to come back soon. 😊”

“Thank you so much for watching JJ. I had a much better trip away from her knowing she was being so well taken care of. The communication was spot on and exactly what I needed to know. Thanks so much. I will definitely reach out to you for my next trip or if I need anything else. Thank you again. Great job!”

About: I have been around animals for my whole life, taking care and experiencing with 4 litters of puppies and watching them grow. I have pet sit for the past 5 years and still do! I am open to pet sit any animal of any size and can do it at your house or mine! I am great with medication scheduling and certain or special feeding schedules. As of right now, I am available Monday through Sunday at any times! I will be having a part time job soon but will still be available for part time work! I always create a little plan before I sit any client's animal. I like to know how the animal is personality wise and if I need to be aware of any medications or certain needs. I also make my own plan with clients consent as in walks around the neighborhood and make sure I interact with the animal with play time and loving.
“Laurie is awesome. She was able to handle our four hooligans wonderfully as well as our bonus lizards. She’s extremely communicative and very dependable. I’d definitely recommend to others looking for someone to watch their four legged friends.”

“Tori thoroughly enjoyed Carolyn's visits: on each visit Tori purred, sat in Carolyn's lap, rolled on the floor, sprawled in the sunny window. She loved Carolyn and we loved receiving daily videos and photos of our kitty, which gave us piece of mind and made us smile every day. Carolyn was excellent at keeping Tori well fed, litter box cleaned, plants watered, mail collected. She's a delightful person and we look forward to booking Tori's next stay with her.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerville. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
