Anne did a fantastic job. She's highly professional, timely and tidy. We booked Anne to stay at our place for a few days while me and my wife went out of town and when we got home the house was in great condition and the only trace was some tired puppies (which is great!). Would definitely recommend. No complaints here

Heather is an absolute gem and after how well she did we will be using her for all of our future pet care needs. When we met her our dogs immediately loved her and so did we. She is easy to talk to and had no problem accommodating our dogs special needs. We were gone for about a week and during that time I got consistent updates and photos of our animals. Whenever I messaged her to check on them she was immediately responsive. She left our house just the way she found it and our animals were all very loved and well cared for. I know it is always scary leaving your animals in the care of someone you don't know but we trusted our gut on Heather and we are so glad we did.

About: Animals have always been a part of my life—I currently have three dogs and a cat, and I’ve been caring for pets for over 5 years. I have experience with a wide range of breeds, from tiny teacup Chihuahuas to large dogs like German Shepherds, Great Danes, Malinois, Pit Bulls, and Mastiffs. I’m confident with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and I adapt easily to their needs—whether that means relaxing with mellow seniors or keeping up with high-energy breeds like Huskies, Border Collies, and Terriers. I also have experience caring for blind dogs and service dogs, and understand the extra attention and care they may need. I always aim to help your pup feel comfortable and safe with me, and I pride myself on being highly adaptable to whatever their unique needs may be. I am graduated and a licensed esthetician practicing here in jackson. I work part-time, I like to stay busy so I have worked with dogs for a few years consistently on the side. I am very flexible and rarely say no to a request! At home, I have three well behaved dogs—a senior Lhasa Apso, a Labrador, and a French Bulldog. They are all crate trained, fully potty trained, and very well cared for. We take pride in keeping our pets happy, healthy, and comfortable, and that same level of care extends to every pet I work with. I always want your pets to feel safe and at ease with me, and I’m happy to follow any specific routines or preferences you have to make sure they feel right at home!

About: What sets me aside from the average sitter is I don't just think of your animals as just your pet but as your own human kid. I treat it as it's equal and deserves my eyes and not my phones camera lens. Your pet, and everyone's pet human child deserves a fresh mind. I can help them even achieve any goals/tricks. I'll come with a handful of treats ready to start our day. Pet Care fits in my routine by a breeze. I'm a stay at home mom of 2. I wake up early prepare breakfast, pack lunches, get them ready and off to school they go. I get home do a little morning clean up as I do that I can easily exercise and play with your pet. After the morning clean up (which can always wait till later) I'm ready for your pet and Mine's adventure. At my home I have a fenced in yard, that's a decent size for small or large pets. I am close to dog friendly walking parks/trails. My neighborhood has a sidewalk that wraps around the block so its a nice for morning stroll.

Reese took exceptionally good care of our dog and house while we were on vacation this summer. When our travel schedule was altered last minute, Reese was very flexible and accommodating. While she was here she gave Cosworth his meds without any problems or complaints. And most importantly, Cosworth liked her! Reese is very conscientious and takes her Rover assignments seriously. We recommend Reese without reservation, and hope she’ll come back to take care of Cosworth for us again.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was 14. Family and neighbors have relied on me to walk, feed, bathe, and take care of their pets for short or long trips. I prefer to spend time with the animals I am taking care of, as I think the more time you spend with and love you give to them the more comfortable they are. I value time with animals greatly; they have been a huge part of my life, and always will be. I find much fulfillment and joy in spending quality time with the animals I can take care of. I currently work full time, Monday-Friday 8-4:30. I would be available evenings after 5, and anytime on the weekends. I am available to stay the night if needed. I would prefer to have your pets out in free range with me while I am there. I would like to spend as much time walking or being outside, or at least playing inside, or maybe all he/she will need is a good belly rub and some comfortable relaxing with someone.

About: I have taken care of pets since I was 10 years old! I have owned several German Shepards and cats. I have my own puppy, he is a rescue Husky from the shelter. So, I am very familiar with puppy tendencies and home training! My family dog, is now quite old so I have also been learning to care for senior dogs and their unique needs as well! I am very active and outgoing and truly enjoy spending time with all animals. I would love to watch and care for you pets! I just recently graduated from Michigan State University and I am studying and applying to law school this fall! I am pretty flexible so feel free to reach out any time! She was very communicative, responsible, and willing to go the extra mile. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to feel at ease about your pet being cared for while you are away!

This was our first time leaving our dogs for a week with a pet sitter. Ann couldn’t have taken better care of them, especially our senior pug. We received photos and videos while away. I have rebooked Ann for another vacation in the fall. Julie

We were very happy with Annie's housesitting with the two dogs. She came over ahead of time for detailed instructions and tour, and while she was on the job she did more than expected (handled garbage collection and put an antenna on our TV). A good sign was that our older dog engaged in play to an unusual extent for her. We will book her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Somerset Center

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Somerset Center on Rover is $49.66 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 140 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Somerset Center. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somerset Center walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somerset Center maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somerset Center choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
