“So happy to have met Anne through Rover. She is a very kind and caring person. It’s obvious that she enjoys what she does and truly cares about animals. She sent great pictures and kept us appraised of how things were going. When we got home the house was in perfect condition. It was a great experience!”

“Heather house- and dog-sat for us over the weekend as our first experience with Rover and it went great. We were updated with photos of our dogs once she arrived (we had already left) and she was very responsive all along the way. It couldn't have gone any better.”
About: Animals have always been a part of my life—I currently have three dogs and a cat, and I’ve been caring for pets for over 5 years. I have experience with a wide range of breeds, from tiny teacup Chihuahuas to large dogs like German Shepherds, Great Danes, Malinois, Pit Bulls, and Mastiffs. I’m confident with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and I adapt easily to their needs—whether that means relaxing with mellow seniors or keeping up with high-energy breeds like Huskies, Border Collies, and Terriers. I also have experience caring for blind dogs and service dogs, and understand the extra attention and care they may need. I always aim to help your pup feel comfortable and safe with me, and I pride myself on being highly adaptable to whatever their unique needs may be. I am graduated and a licensed esthetician practicing here in jackson. I work part-time, I like to stay busy so I have worked with dogs for a few years consistently on the side. I am very flexible and rarely say no to a request! At home, I have three well behaved dogs—a senior Lhasa Apso, a Labrador, and a French Bulldog. They are all crate trained, fully potty trained, and very well cared for. We take pride in keeping our pets happy, healthy, and comfortable, and that same level of care extends to every pet I work with. I always want your pets to feel safe and at ease with me, and I’m happy to follow any specific routines or preferences you have to make sure they feel right at home!
“Julie is a blessing for Poncho and I, while we stay in town for 4 months, for work. She is very easy to talk to and communicative. She is very good with poncho, a 100lb pitbull. Thank you Julie!!!”

“Was very satisfied with the overall experience. House was exactly as we left it when we returned. Puppies were excited to see us too. Nicole even cleaned up the dog poo in the back yard, yeah bonus!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was 14. Family and neighbors have relied on me to walk, feed, bathe, and take care of their pets for short or long trips. I prefer to spend time with the animals I am taking care of, as I think the more time you spend with and love you give to them the more comfortable they are. I value time with animals greatly; they have been a huge part of my life, and always will be. I find much fulfillment and joy in spending quality time with the animals I can take care of. I currently work full time, Monday-Friday 8-4:30. I would be available evenings after 5, and anytime on the weekends. I am available to stay the night if needed. I would prefer to have your pets out in free range with me while I am there. I would like to spend as much time walking or being outside, or at least playing inside, or maybe all he/she will need is a good belly rub and some comfortable relaxing with someone.
About: I’ve grown up around dogs of all kind, worked for Wag! And have worked at a few doggy daycares as well, I have obedience training experience, grooming experience, dispensing medication experience, and I absolutely just love dogs overall! I’m also working on building up a clientele to eventually grow into a fully operational doggy/cat daycare/hotel. Get up I feed my fish first thing, then I let my dogs out, put food in my dogs dish, let him inside to eat, then it’s play time. Pups will get plenty of walks, i like to go on multiple walks a day on my own, and can accommodate for every level of energy.
“Brittany was very responsible and sensitive to the needs of our dogs. She sent lots of pictures to us and kept us updated on how the dogs were doing. I would recommend her without concern!!”

About: What sets me aside from the average sitter is I don't just think of your animals as just your pet but as your own human kid. I treat it as it's equal and deserves my eyes and not my phones camera lens. Your pet, and everyone's pet human child deserves a fresh mind. I can help them even achieve any goals/tricks. I'll come with a handful of treats ready to start our day. Pet Care fits in my routine by a breeze. I'm a stay at home mom of 2. I wake up early prepare breakfast, pack lunches, get them ready and off to school they go. I get home do a little morning clean up as I do that I can easily exercise and play with your pet. After the morning clean up (which can always wait till later) I'm ready for your pet and Mine's adventure. At my home I have a fenced in yard, that's a decent size for small or large pets. I am close to dog friendly walking parks/trails. My neighborhood has a sidewalk that wraps around the block so its a nice for morning stroll.
“Reese took exceptionally good care of our dog and house while we were on vacation this summer. When our travel schedule was altered last minute, Reese was very flexible and accommodating. While she was here she gave Cosworth his meds without any problems or complaints. And most importantly, Cosworth liked her! Reese is very conscientious and takes her Rover assignments seriously. We recommend Reese without reservation, and hope she’ll come back to take care of Cosworth for us again.”

I can crate your cat or dog if it is necessary.
About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my extensive knowledge of animal behavior, my commitment to personalized care, and my ability to handle various pet needs, including administering medications and managing special diets. Additionally, I prioritize communication with pet owners to ensure peace of mind while they are away. Pet care fits into my daily routine by incorporating regular feeding, exercise, and playtime for pets. Weekly, I ensure maintaining open communication with pet owners about their pets' well-being. FAQs for House Sitting - Hanover
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 174 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hanover. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hanover walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hanover maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hanover choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hanover. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
