“We were in Callaway, VA for a wedding and we left our pup with Maribel and her family for the day while we attended the event. Leading up to our trip, Maribel put me at ease with fast and professional communication and flexibility when our drop-off time changed. During the visit, Maribel shared awesome pictures of our pooch in action. Upon pickup, pup was all smiles and tail wags. It is evident that Maribel and her family treat your pet like their own during boarding. We were able to attend the wedding worry-free, knowing that Dante was in great hands. I HIGHLY recommend Maribel for your pet sitting needs.”

“Richard was absolutely amazing with Judo! My dog is usually a bit apprehensive with new people, but by the time I went to pick him up, he was jumping all over Richard. It was comforting to see and a testament to his skills working with dogs. I will definitely be using his services again.”

“I couldn't be happier with the care my Westie received! He had an absolute blast with Kenneth and Susan - they took him on 2 fun field trips, gave him plenty of playtime and made sure he was well fed and got good rest. When he came home he was so happy, relaxed and clearly well loved. We will definitely be using them again!”

“Amanda was fabulous! I appreciated her daily updates and photos of Penny. I felt so comfortable leaving for the weekend knowing my pup was in good hands. She asked excellent questions during drop up and made us both feel at ease. I would absolutely trust her again to watch Penny!”

“Sydney took great care of of our dog for a weekend. Maple had a great time playing with Sydney's dogs and got plenty of exercise in the back yard. Would definitely have Sydney dog sit again.”

“David was awesome with our very high energy, sometimes challenging, yet sweet Calvin. David sent us reports and pictures every day which made our trip that much more relaxing and put our minds at ease. We couldn't be more grateful to David and his excellent care of our boy while we were on the road. We recommend David 100% and hope to call on him again. Thank you, David!”
“Copper LOVED his stay with Michelle! Even though our little pups is anxious and high maintenance (we even added in last-minute medication), Michelle took it all in stride and reassured us from the start that everything would be ok. We got daily pictures and updates that showed us Copper was fitting right in with their family routine and enjoying his new friendship with Michelle's dog. It was so reassuring during our travel to know that Copper was not only well-cared for but also happy. I highly recommend Michelle!”

“Lawdy was very kind and professional and took great of our dog! We even reached out on just a days notice and it wasn't a problem whatsoever! Would recommend her for sure!”

“Just had our first Rover experience with Marah and our 3 dogs! They stayed at her place for four nights. We did a meet & greet for about half an hour, making sure our dogs would be a good fit with her household. Everybody was playing and having a blast, and she's got a GREAT backyard. I got photos from her while we were gone, and I picked up 3 tired & happy pooches on Sunday. Marah was great handling meds for my Lab, and the whole experience was really smooth. I definitely recommend her.”

“This was my first time using Donna for my fur baby and let me just tell you she spoiled him rotten. She was so attentive to him and made him feel right at home. When I first met Donna she was very welcoming to both me and my little one. She made me feel at ease. I knew I made right choice and I definitely be using her services again. Thank you so much Donna for all the love and care you gave to my lilman . ❤️❤️”

“Erin and Matthew took great care of our boy! They sent a ton of video and picture updates which we enjoyed while on our trip. Remi came home exhausted, which means he must of played his heart out while we were away. We will be booking with them in the future!”

“Amazing sitter, took great care of my old dog Prince and kept a close eye on him. He has seizures and had one at Claire's home, I was very relieved to know he was in good care and she kept me updated throughout the weekend. Couldn't recommend her enough!”

“Shawn did an awesome job with my doodle. She sent a couple pictures each day while we were out of town. When we got home my doodle slept all day, I think she was exhausted from playing with Shawn’s 2 dogs. I will definitely use her again and highly recommend!”

“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would, and so would my Beagle LuLu! Rebecca has watched her multiple times, and LuLu always has a blast at Rebecca's house. Rebecca is great about giving LuLu lots of supervised outdoor time.”

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
95% of sitters in Simpsons can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Simpsons home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Simpsons.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Simpsons sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
