Jonathan was wonderful, my 16-year-old dog loved him instantly. My dog was not at all out of sorts after a long weekend which means meds were given on time, he had plenty of walks (probably more than normal), and he wasn't left alone for too long. Jonathan communicated appropriately throughout his stay and my home was left very neat and tidy. I'm extremely thankful for his kind care of my old, curmudgeonly dog.

Dawn Star took wonderful care of my two dogs while my family and I were out of town for a long weekend. I came back home to happy dogs and a well cared for home. This was my first experience with a house sitter and found my dogs to be much more relaxed at the end of the stay compared to when they board at a facility. One of my dogs is very high energy, and the other is more reserved. Dawn Star handled their particular dynamics without issues. She also paid attention to my care/ instruction sheet and followed it to a T. I’m very happy with this experience and would hire Dawn Star again.

Tiffanie was great. Even though last minute, she came to meet the dogs before her stay. She took great care of them, sent lots of pictures, was very communicative-commenting on each dog’s personality so you know that she’s spending time with them, and left our house in perfect condition.

About: While I am new to pet sitting, I’ve spent my whole life taking care of my own pets as well as pet sitting/ house sitting for family while they’re away. I have experience with animals ranging for dogs, cats, fish and guinea pigs! I have experience with the importance of following routines, giving fresh food and water, cleaning up accidents, giving potty breaks, making sure pets feel safe and comfortable, and since I work in a hospital, recognizing changes in behavior. I understand that different pets have unique needs. My dog Ruby has severe separation anxiety and I provide her comfort, patience, and security during her flare ups. I’m committed to following your instructions closely so your pet receives the same love and care they’re used to at home. I know trusting someone with your pet is a big decision, and I’ll treat them like they’re part of my own family! I’m currently working 3 days a week Thursday-Saturday as a night shift PCT at a hospital.I will be moving to part-time in August working 2 days a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays), and will have more flexibility! I am only accepting bookings on my days off and I can provide plenty of potty breaks, walks, playtime, cuddles, and companionship throughout the day! Whether your pet is more active or laid back I’ll make sure they are comfortable, safe and attended to while you’re away. When caring for your pet I will: - Give adequate potty breaks throughout the day. - Follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. -Keep litter boxes, food bowls, and water bowls clean. -Take your dog on walks (if requested). - Send regular photo and video updates so you know how your pet is doing. -Treat your home with respect by keeping it clean, locking doors and windows, bringing in packages if requested, and following any household instructions you leave. -Most importantly, make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and comfortable until you return home!

About: I absolutely love animals and have had them through out my entire life. I have experience from working at “Dogtopia” to “Home away from home, dog boarding”. I understand the importance of family and would love to be your dogs next best friend! I have experience providing care for a variety of animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring health. I am familiar with cleaning and sanitizing animal housing and equipment, and can recognize signs of illness or distress. By feeding, walks, and playtime—with my personal habits like breakfast, exercise, and evening relaxation it helps to create a consistent, healthy routine. My successful routine with my 12 year old senior terrier includes early morning engagement to set a positive tone, scheduled midday breaks or mental stimulation to combat boredom, and structured evening bonding that eases stress. I have a 12 year old friendly Emotional support animal named Flower, who still loves to run and play. I also live close to the park, and have a crate if needed.

Robert is a 10/10 he went above and beyond to ensure our kitties knew he was a friend and that they were not abandoned while we were away. He respected their space but also ensured they felt loved. His updates were thorough and helped us to feel better about leaving our kitties at home. Highly recommend him to watch your pets.

I currently work part time a couple hours with horses in barn and an Australian Shepherd. So I have ample time to spend with your fur babies at home. I am an energetic person, so I love to go for walks, spend ample time outside playing fetch and other stimulating games. I also enjoy water play if the fur babies enjoy water.

About: when you choose me as your pet sitter, you have nothing to worry about. I care for all pets as if they're my own. I live in an apartment and I'm currently only available to do boarding with one dogs but will consider two if they are bonded pair. before any boarding or housesitting services confirmed, I require we meet in person to ensure all the details are understood and that your dogs are OK with my dog. I have a 30 pound beagle mix named Daisy who is three years old and she will be with me at all times. I am always available for drop in visits and dog walking. prices fluctuate due to various factors but the main ones these days are gas prices and distance of travel. I.e The farther away you are the more likely there is that a added fee will occur before confirmation of service. I provide pet care in services full-time as of November 2021. I am available at any time if you need me. i'm currently available for the following services: housesitting, pet boarding, drop in visit, dog walking for 30 minutes or 60 minutes, and one on one dog training. if your dog is with me, I live in a neighborhood that is very dog friendly. We have two dog parks and I am often at these dog parks at least once a day. However if you have a dog that is not comfortable with that I would not take them there. I would focus on other activities that are more suited to your pet. I also take a lot of pictures and I am constantly in contact with you so you don't have to worry where or what we're doing. I currently work as a therapist with an office in the Madison area, right next to the plow and hearth. My schedule is pretty flexible and it changes weekly as my client needs change. I am almost always around, that makes me a great person for any last minute bookings needed. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. In my home, I provide a calm, pet-friendly environment with plenty of affection, daily walks, and playtime tailored to your pet’s needs. I keep the space clean, secure, and low-stress, with my own well-behaved dog Daisy as a companion if your pet is comfortable. When staying in your home, I’m respectful of your space and your pet’s routine. I follow all instructions closely, maintain regular updates, and work to ensure your pet feels safe and cared for in their familiar environment. I aim to build trust with both pets and their people every step of the way.

About: I am comfortable with all kinds of dogs and needs. I personally care for a GSD and a Heeler mix, and am comfortable with rambunctious and large dogs. Both of my dogs practice loose leash walking, and I love using our walks as time to tire their brains as well as their bodies. I can give medications, including subq and other injections. FAQs for House Sitting - Simmons Gap

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 477 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Simmons Gap. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Simmons Gap walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Simmons Gap maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Simmons Gap choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Simmons Gap. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
