“Marla took excellent care of my puppy. I knew Checkers was in good hands. And even my shyest cat approached her for attention. She a professional at this and I’m lucky to have found her for my pets.”

“Abbey was amazing! This was our first time having a sitter stay at our house, and I was definitely nervous. Our older dog has a new, somewhat more involved routine now and I wasn't sure if it would feel like too much to handle. Abbey was so calm and immediately put us all at ease. She asked good questions before we were away and sent us lots of photos and updates. It was honestly an incredible relief to know she was there for them, and we loved coming back to happy, relaxed, well-rested pups. Can't wait to work with Abbey again!”

“Abigail is amazing. We have used her twice and already have her booked for our week long family vacation. She is professional and very genuine. She sends lots of pictures. Highly recommend booking with her!”

“Great experience. My pups loved Brandi right from the start. Loved all the communication and being on time was a huge plus. Will definitely be having Brandi watch them again soon!”

“We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Michelle! She loved our pup like one of her own and also took excellent care of the house. I hope that she is always available when we have to go away because we know our pup is in the best hands!! Highly recommend!”

About: On top of about a decade’s worth of experience taking care of family and neighborhood pets, I’ve spent the last 1.5 years as a professional dog trainer! I have a passion for pets and making sure they’re happy and safe. I have taken care of and trained just about every age, sizes, and personality type. As long as you let me know what your babies need, I’m more than happy to help! I am a teacher currently on summer break! I have plenty of time to focus on your pets and give them the care and attention they deserve! I am open to doing whatever your normal routine is! I have experience with all kinds of care instructions including first aid and medications. Just let me know!
“Allison was great! She sent pictures and updated me throughout the stay. I’ll use again in the future. She was also very respectful of the house and it was in great shape when I got home.”

About: I have had animals and cared for animals since I was young. On top of my personal animals, I have also dog and cat sat for family friends. I have also dealt with a diabetic cat and it’s shots. I am mostly just available on Fridays after 10:30 and on the weekends. I do sometimes have the availability for an afternoon (after 4) walk or drop in. I can care for your animals as you see fit in your home and follow your standards for your animals and home. If wanting some play time with another dog, I can also bring my own dog, who loves other dogs, for some play time.

About: I grew up around dogs my whole life, thats how I learned responsibility. Helping my family take care of dogs feeding, walking, and training as far back as I can remember. Various breeds including dobermans, terriers (jack, pits, etc) Rottweilers, boxers, etc. I've also been the trusted person around town that family friends would pay to watch their dogs, including too many breeds to name! That started in my teens as soon as I could drive to the houses. Im now 32 with a year old pittie and an almost year old German shepard. I have trained both myself (not certified nor looking to train) but I take pride in building relationships with dogs. Any age, any breed, ill treat your pet with as much love and care as you can wish for! I've administered meds, dealt with social/separation anxiety and nothing scares me away to give the patience and time your pet deserves. I work full-time with a very set and reliable schedule. M-F 845am to 515pm. I can stop by both before and after work, for breakfast and stay longer after to ensure more playtime and care. If distance permits, can also stop by at lunch. Weekends are completely open for whatever you wish for your pet. I do have a fully fenced in back yard and both my dogs are friendly, although I don't offer overnight boards in my own home I will welcome weekend day care in my home. Otherwise, I have no issue with crate trained pups. You supply the rules and I will abide with your wishes when it comes to your own in home care.
About: Growing up, my family always had dogs, and today animals continue to be an important part of my life. I'm a board member of a local humane society and volunteer weekly at the shelter. I also help with low-cost spay/neuter clinics, where I've worked with dogs of many ages, sizes, personalities, and comfort levels. I know every dog is different. Some want long walks and lots of playtime. Others prefer a slower pace and plenty of affection. I take the time to learn your dog's routine, personality, and needs so they can feel comfortable and secure while you're away. Friends and colleagues describe me as dependable and patient. I pay close attention to details, communicate clearly, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. Whether your dog needs exercise, companionship or simply a familiar routine, I'll care for them as if they were my own. My goal is simple: for your dog to feel safe, happy, and loved, and for you to have complete peace of mind while you're away. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. I work as an entrepreneur and consultant, which gives me flexibility to schedule visits, walks, feedings, and check-ins throughout the day. Because I manage my own schedule, I'm often able to accommodate pets who need consistent care, medication reminders, multiple daily visits, or extra attention while their families are away. I intentionally limit my commitments so I can provide dependable, personalized care rather than rushing between appointments. When I accept a booking, I make your pet's wellbeing a priority. I'm happy to provide overnight house sitting in your home. Many pets are most comfortable staying in their familiar surroundings, keeping their normal routines, and receiving one-on-one attention in a place they know and trust. When caring for your pets, I'll follow your instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, litter box cleaning, playtime, and any other routines that are important to your household. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can stay connected and know how your pets are doing while you're away. I understand that hiring a house sitter means trusting someone with both your pets and your home. I take that responsibility seriously. I'll treat your home with care and respect, keep things tidy, and leave everything as I found it so you can return home to happy pets and peace of mind.
About: I graduated in May of 2025 from the Madison Area Technical College Veterinary Technician Program, then passed the VTNE to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. In school we worked with dogs, cats, horses, cows, and lambs. I have had dogs since I was a child, and I currently have 2 dogs and 1 cat. I worked on a farm taking care of horses for about two and a half years from 2020-2022. I've taken care of pets for friends/family for many years as well! I currently work at a vet hospital, though I am out on FMLA. Unfortunately, that means I can only take on pets less than 30 lbs at the moment. If you're looking for someone to take extra care of your pets, please reach out to see if we're a good fit! I'm currently working full time as a certified veterinary technician at a veterinary hospital. I work 40 hours a week with a varying schedule. Generally I work 8 am - 6 pm four days a week (my day off during the week changes each week). I work on Saturday about once per month. My rover clients will be scheduled around that availability. I currently live in an apartment with a cat and will not be able to watch clients' pets in my home. If I am watching pets in the client's home, I will take care of them the way I would take care of mine. I am respectful and conscientious of your personal space and privacy.
“There are no words strong enough to describe how grateful I am for Lashay. She didn’t just watch my dog Juno — she loved him like her own. From the moment they met, I could see the patience, warmth, and genuine care Lashay brings to everything she does. Juno isn’t the easiest dog. He’s big, emotional, and full of personality. But Lashay showed incredible calm and understanding, meeting him with kindness every step of the way. She gave me thoughtful updates, photos, and messages that made me feel completely at ease — and honestly, a little jealous because he looked so happy. But it didn’t stop there. Lashay took care of my cat too — with just as much love and attention. I’m not sure how she balances so much with such grace, but I do know this: my animals were in the best hands possible. If you’re lucky enough to have Lashay care for your pets, take it. She is one of a kind. Loving. Professional. Communicative. And above all, trustworthy. Juno and I are forever thankful.”

About: I'm currently in school for my RN. I have worked in Hospice for a few years now, and for awhile I provided doggy hospice for my last pup (Callie) that passed in January of 2022, she was with me almost 17 years. I now have a crazyyyy puppy. I live less than 5 minutes from my job so my pup gets a lot of my time. I do work around 2-4 days a week so I'm looking to fill my free time with more pups and I know my puppy is craving someone to play with. Each dog I care for is cared for in different ways, no care is the same. Some are very high energy and require time and patience. Others are more timid and don't need as much couching.

About: I’ve had my own dogs but I’ve also spent about 7 years as a foster mom to needy dogs and have had the pleasure of watching 14 dogs pass through my home on their way to a forever family . I’ve had dogs in heat , sick with heartworm and kennel cough . I currently have a 11 year old foster failure pit bull that is completely comfortable with me being gone for long stretches of time and all hours as well , he has access to the yard with doggy doors . I’m recently retired and am looking for new ways to occupy my time other than clocking in !! My dog is 11 and we typically are super low key and I have no commitment on a daily basis . At the present time I would be doing only in your home care , my dog is old and used to being an only dog , too late to change . I can easily do anytime or even overnights , he’s used to me being gone
About: I took care of my neighbor’s three dogs from 15-20 until I had to move away to college. I worked at a local boarding facility for several months with cats and dogs. I’ve worked in veterinary practice for 4 years and interact with cats and dogs every day! I also have experience housesitting and dogsitting for family and friends the last few years as well. I have experience house sitting and caring for cats as well. This included checking up on the cats, caring for any medical issues, feeding and changing/checking the cat litter. I am a current student home for the summer! I’m currently work nights 1-3 times a week to weekends. I take care of pets every day in my profession. I will walk my dogs after work often, sometimes twice daily if I go into work late that day or get off early. I have a fenced in yard at home. I feed my dogs twice a day and take them for walks daily. I also do different activities like taking them to dog parks and training classes.
“This was my very first experience using a pet-sitting service. I chose Estefanny because of her very high ratings and she did not disappoint. My ancient kitty Larry doesn't do well staying by himself anymore. Estefanny not only assured that he had regular meals, water, and meds, but she also stayed with him at night so he wasn't lonely. Larry clearly loved her. She sent an update and photos every day, many of which showed him on her lap or in the spare bed, so he was obviously comfortable sleeping with her. To be honest, I expected her to be great with Larry. What I didn't expect was, after 5 nights sleeping at my house, I couldn't even tell she had been there. The place was exactly as I had left it - I swear she packed out her own garbage! Estefanny clearly cares for pets and is pleasant, reliable, and responsive. The highest recommendation I can give her is that I'm headed out of town again next month and I've already booked Estefanny to take care of Larry. The whole experience was just terrific!”

About: I’m a registered nurse who is dedicated to providing excellent services to others who need a helping hand. I’ve personally lived with a pit and a cat for 14 years in the past. My schedule varies every week depending on my full time job. I’m usually free 3 days of the week and my schedule is made 6 weeks ahead of time so we can plan ahead! I follow stranger danger! I will not be answering the door unless asked for special requests. I like to keep a clean and organized space
About: Animals have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. 🐾 My heart belongs to my 8-year-old miniature schnauzer, my little old lady bestie who came from a tough past. Caring for her through trauma and anxiety has made me a more patient, attentive, and compassionate pet parent which are skills I bring to every pet I care for. Most recently, I welcomed three rescue cats into my life, and let me tell you, they have completely stolen my heart! Every day is a new adventure learning their quirks and showering them with love. Dogs, cats, big personalities, shy babies, I adore them all. Your pet won't just be looked after, they'll be loved, doted on, and treated like my very own. 🐶🐱 I can't wait to meet them! Working from home means I have a wonderfully flexible schedule. I already walk my dog multiple times a day and spend a big chunk of my time enriching and engaging my pets. Adding your fur baby to my routine would be a joy, not a chore. There's almost always someone home, which means maximum love and minimal alone time for your pet! 🐾 Your home, your rules. I'll follow every routine, boundary, and expectation you set to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and completely at ease while you're away. My goal is for your pet to barely notice you're gone (okay, they'll miss you but they'll be well-loved in the meantime)!

As of July 2026, there are 242 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shirland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shirland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shirland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shirland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shirland. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
