We appreciate their attention to my dog’s medical conditions, and frequent updates with videos and pictures. The love and warmth we received from her and family is highly appreciated!”

“Best family we could have left our girl with. I think she was a little sad to come back with us! Attentive and kind people that sent us regular updates. Thank you for taking such good care of her!!”

“Margaret was Sooo amazing! Last minute bookingand a new to being boarded kitty. It was great I got to learn how my kitty would respond in such a healthy environment.”

“Kiera took such wonderful care of my senior guy! I dropped him off at her home while I moved into my new place and I had such peace of mind knowing he was in good hands. Kiera sent me pics and videos of Chico playing and out on walks with her sweet senior girl! I will definitely bring Chico back to Kiera’s in the future.”

“Maytte is a gem! We have two very shy dogs and weren’t sure how they would do staying with a new person. They loved her and warmed up to her at the meet and greet we set up. It made going away much easier. Maytte sent updates every day, with pictures and videos of the dogs. We could tell they were loved and well cared for. Maytte went above and beyond, buying them each a harness for walks and new toys. We’ve already booked her for our next trip.”

About: I'm an enthusiastic dog walker and sitter that has a passion for dogs and rescuing them. I have been involved in dog rescue and fostering in the Syracuse area for a number of years. I've cared for a number of my own dogs and cats from young to seniors. I've also been a foster parent to a number of dogs when rescues needed someone. I can handle the most challenging of dogs down to little babies and everything in between. Your dog will get plenty of love and attention when I'm around! I give all dogs the same love and affection I would give my own dog and see the importance of cuddle and buddy time along with good exercise. I show confidence when I'm with a dog so that they know there is trust with me from the beginning. I currently work part time, so have plenty of time to spend with your fur baby. I am always available after 3:00 p.m. during the week, before 8:00 a.m. or anytime on the weekends. I've got a very pet friendly home. I live in a single story, ranch house that has a fully fenced back yard. I do not have children at home that we would need to worry about and I'm very respectful if needed to go into a client's home. Safety and security are always at the forefront.
“This was the best dog watching experience we have ever had. Deborah sent so many photos and updates which was so reassuring and comforting to me. She clearly built a connection with our dogs and I know they were treated just as well as if they were at home. We will definitely be using this service again.”

“I left my almost 16 year old pug with Carrie and her husband while I traveled for 10 days to visit family. I know she was in great hands, she’s usually a little nervous at first but ran right up her steps when I got there as she’s been there before short term. Carrie sent me messages and pictures often enough. She got lots of outdoor time, was tended to her older age needs, and even got to sleep next to them as she’s used to it at home. I feel very lucky to have found her through Rover and I’d highly recommend her and her husband!”

“Kara took excellent care of our Maisy dog. While we were out of town, she sent updates and pictures of Maisy's stay with her. Kara was also very gracious by accommodating our work schedules with flexible drop off and pick up times. We would not hesitate to have Maisy stay with her again in the future.”

“Chelsea is a great petsitter. It has all the qualities we seek when we leave our pets with someone. I want to thank Chelsea and her family very much for taking such good care of my little one! Thank you!”

“Tia is absolutely fantastic! She and her family took such great care of our dog. This is the third time we’ve left her with Tia and have had a great experience every time. We received regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while away. Highly recommend Tia to anyone looking for reliable and compassionate pet care!”

“Nina was a lifesaver! She was able to schedule a meet and greet, and book our dog for the weekend with short notice. She was very communicative. We received updates, and pictures, which was so appreciated. Our dog seemed very content during his stay with Nina. We are looking forward to using her again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
