“Emily is the best! She is very responsive and informative about updating me with information. Both of my cats love her! I currently have one dog that I dote on full-time. I work from home and am centrally located, which makes it easy for me to do midday drop-ins on my lunch break and right after my workday ends. I am the go-to pet sitter for many of my friends and family members and am patient and understanding with animals who are shy or have anxiety.

About: ***Now booking for Fall 2025!*** Hey, Rover friends! My name is Alex (he/they) and I absolutely love dogs. Growing up with an 85-pound yellow lab, I fell in love with these gentle giants as a kid, and volunteered at the local animal shelter during high school. I have experience with various types of training, including crate training, teaching loose-leash walking, and doing socialization work in public places. Over the past four years, I have sat for dozens of clients, both through Rover and for family and friends. I also serve as a regular dog walker for several others. I have experience with a wide variety of dog breeds and ages. From rescue mutts to the stigmatized Bully breeds, family dogs such as the Doodles, Pugs, Bulldogs, and Labrador Retriever, and herding dogs including the Corgi, Cattle Dog, Australian Shepherd, and Shetland Sheepdog, I believe that each dog has a unique personality and can thrive given the right circumstances! In the next couple of years, I hope to adopt a rescue dog myself, but right now, Rover gives me the chance to be around lots of different animals despite my busy lifestyle. I am a PhD candidate, and I work from home a good portion of the week. When I teach, I am typically gone for 4 hours at the most, so I am able to check in on dogs frequently. I am also a very active person and enjoy strolls through the park, long hikes, or easy tempo runs on local cross-country trails. For doggy daycare and boarding, I have a comfy crate that is adjustable to your pup's size, and for their safety, I typically crate them if I leave the house until we have built a relationship. I have a small fenced-in backyard which is perfect for potty breaks, fetch, and short training sessions. I live close to Washington Park, and frequently take pups on the loop around the lake. I also enjoy taking day trips to the Adirondacks and Catskills for hiking :)

“This was my 2nd time using Rover and requesting Glenmary. She is amazing!! The photos and notes she posted were so complete and helpful that I really felt comfortable with my decision to use Rover, and especially picking Glenmary and her partner!! My fur baby loves her and comes home happy and relaxed. She is the best and helped me out with zero notice both times! (I know, I'm a headache!! 🤕) Thank you so much Glenmary!!!”

“Jose did an amazing job with Marley! I was able to leave an entire week without having to worry once. Was always on time and walked my dog to the park every time. Marley loved Jose, so much so Marley was playing fetch with sticks which I’ve never seen him do! Jose also took amazing pictures at every check in”

About: Friends and family members have trusted me to care for their furry loved ones for as long as I can remember. Our furry friends deserve just as much love and care as we do. I work from home three days out of the week, so I am able to care for pets during the day. I am also incredibly available throughout the weekends and each weeknight. I maintain a consistent daily routine for feeding, potty breaks, and playtime to keep pets feeling secure and comfortable. I keep clients updated with photos and updates on their pets' well-being, so they can feel confident that their furry friend is in good hands. I create a pet-friendly environment with plenty of space for pets to roam, play, and relax. I ensure all areas are pet-proofed and free from hazards. Pets receive lots of attention, playtime, and cuddles. I offer enrichment activities like toys and outdoor walks.

“We were first time rover users for our cat Selene. Amanda was very kind and patient with us as I was all over the place with our trip. Our kitty hid each time she visited but was fed, watered and her box scooped! We will certainly book again the next time we have a trip planned! 😁”

About: I was raised by a vet who would take care of a variety of animals including dogs in our home so I have a lifetime of experience communicating and caring for them. I have generally been able to get even the most aggressive, timid and fearful dogs to warm up to me eventually with no issues. I also know how to safely break up dog fights, but more importantly, I know how to keep an eye out for signs to prevent them in the first place. I have experience caring for blind dogs, sick dogs, physically disabled dogs, puppies, seniors, and even dogs that think they are cats! I love being active so if your dog is high energy, then we are a perfect match. I work full time but remote so I have a very flexible schedule during the day and am usually available nights and weekends at any time. I live next door to Washington park and often take my own dog to the fenced in tennis court when they're not in use so he can securely play off-leash.

About: I have taken car of animals and kids my whole life. As the eldest daughter of a disabled retired EMS dad, I was needed around the house to help take car of my younger siblings, our cats and dogs. Juggling my own life and taking care of theirs I've developed crucial skills in order to be able to care for everyone properly. I've got a lot of love to give! I am a quality assurance and Human Resources manager for a local business. my schedule is incredibly flexible and managed by myself. I am free early mornings and late afternoons into evenings pretty much daily unless I have a doctor's appointment. Taking care of pets is very similar to taking care of humans. You need to learn how to communicate with your pet, each animal has their own language, signs they give to let you know when they need to use the bathroom, when they want more space from you or some playtime. Understanding these little signals can allow you to take care of them better. As a temporary care giver you also need to respect the space you are in and the routines that these animals already have in place. Their owners know their animals best and it is always best to follow the instructions you were given.
