“Alyssa has been taking care of our now 85lbs BIG BOY since Jan 2024 (when Bishop, our pitbull, was only 3 months old) Throughout the year, she has proven to be reliable, punctual, respectful, and understanding. Most importantly, Bishop loves seeing her and going on walks with her! Not only does she takes Bishop out for walks, but she take notice of things that could be of concern and address it for his safety, such as walking him on grass during the hot summer. She goes above and beyond and we couldn’t ask for a better walker! We appreciate all that she do!”

“Jorden was great asset to us by agreeing to drop in on our dogs at the very last minute of a holiday weekend. Our dogs are mixed rescues and very odd - but Jorden showed up and even stayed a bit longer than requested to see if the dogs would potty, even though they decided not to- Jorden tried and that speaks volumes to us. We were already comfortable with Jorden around our pets and home from all the previous feedback on Rover. Jorden gets accurate reviews and with our experience would say never hesitate to book Jorden as your sitter.”

About: Owned and taken care of dogs and cats since I was young. Can’t remember a time without having pets! Currently own two crazy pups and two pretty kitties, and can’t wait to meet yours. Have experience with senior dogs, puppies, and everything in between. I am a full time firefighter/EMT, so I only work two 24hr shifts a week, and the rest of the time I get to play with yours, and my own animals! Love to hike or be outdoors with as many pets as possible! If they’re happy, I’m happy! I will follow all rules set for your pet, and be sure to keep their safety at the top of the list! As a pet owner, I can’t imagine something happening to my own animals, and I would never want to let anything happen to yours!

About: Let me bring your dog on an adventure - my dog walks start at $20 but I do hikes on a sliding scale. I have group play experience, I can bring your dog to a dog park without any fear that your dog will get into any sort of trouble. I'm a quiet, clean, petsitter, I will likely leave your house cleaner than it was when you let me in. "I have worked with Kae, of Little Lyons, for about a year. He is contentious, dedicated, and loving to all the people and pets he comes into contact with. I highly recommend his services and happily look forward to working with him again in the future." - Nicole E. "Kae dogsits for me when I go away on business trips or go into Boston for the weekend, and I could not recommend him more highly! He is caring and attentive to my dog; my dog gets so excited to see him. My dog is medium to high energy and Kae always tires her out. He is extremely knowledgable about dogs and dog behavior and has given me several tools to help keep my dog more mentally engaged and less stressed. Kae is punctual, he remembers all sorts of details about every dog, and he is my go-to whenever I need someone. Best dog sitter/walker in the Providence area!" - Kate R. I have worked with a doggy daycare, where I learnt dog behavior, and positive reinforcement training. I have worked in home pet sitting for dogs, cats, rabbits, snakes, tortoises, geckos, bearded lizards, salt and fresh water fish, for over a decade. Schedule a meet and greet with your pets! LGBTQIA+ friendly, Disability and Sensory Friendly I have kept strange hours for a very long time. I can fit your furry (or scaly or feathered) family into my schedule without issue. As a pet service professional, I like to make sure your pet is well attended to, and you feel as safe and comfortable as they do. I enjoy waking up to walk a client's dog, or making sure your cat feels safe before it's time to turn the lights off. You can rest assured while I am with your pets that they will be well attended to. A typical visit includes 15-20 minutes of play with your pet depending on energy levels, lots of positive attention and love, feeding and making sure they have access to water and making sure any business is done. As an overnight visitor, often for pets with anxiety or special needs/senior pets, I am with your pet in your home from 10pm-8am, plus visits during any of their usual scheduled feedings. As a dog walker, you can expect me to arrive and provide a full 30 minute walk to your pet. If you book through rover, you can also get a map of the walk we did, how long it took, and I provide pictures along the way. When it's time to go home, I make sure they and your home are safe and secure.

About: I’ve been an animal lover my whole life, starting my pet care career in high school at a doggie daycare, and ending up here, with 6 years of professional experience and the same love of animals I’ve had since the beginning. I do have a full time job that prevents me from doing any jobs between the hours of 7am-4pm Tuesday-Thursday. Friday/Saturday I am available beginning at 2pm, and Sunday/Monday I have open availability. I treat all animals the way I would hope someone would take care of my girls when I go on vacation. There’s nothing more important to me than knowing they’re in good hands with someone who will not only stop by and feed them, but spend time with them, maybe cuddle on the couch or just keep them company. I understand that your pets are family, and I will always treat them as such.

About: I have owned a Labrador Retriever, Jack Russell and two German Shepherds and have dog sat many others. I have had twelve years of experience with dog sitting. I will treat your dog like family with lots of love, spending time with them and many walks and adventures to dog parks around the area. I will give them lots of treats. While spending time at your home will treat it as my home with keeping it clean and able to do little stuff around the house such as watering the plants and picking up the mail with no extra cost. I have a flexible schedule, which I am able to pet sit at last notice. I have a dog name Juno who is a six year old Labrador who is friendly and gets along with all dogs. I would like meet and greets just to know the dog before hand and the dog knows me and Juno before we welcome them into our home! We want to create a welcoming home to your dog by not being a total stranger watching them, helping your dog with adjusting as their family is away. I currently work as a nurse so on my days off I am usually at home hanging with Juno and going on walks or playing in the uard I have yard with a river in the back. My dog usually off leash but because of the no fence will keep your dog on leash for safety and lots of walks throughout the day!

About: I'm a lifelong dog and cat owner who treats every animal like family. I build strong bonds with dogs through communication, patience, and positive reinforcement. I enjoy basic training, teaching tricks, playing, walks, and giving dogs the attention and companionship they deserve. I want every pet in my care to feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I'm looking for side work taking care of people's pets along side my loveable Labrador. I'm available for walks, car rides, pet sitting and pet check-ins. I care for pets with patience, attention, and genuine affection. I follow each pet’s routine and the owner’s instructions closely, including feeding, medications, walks, playtime, and any special needs. I take time to understand each pet’s personality and comfort level rather than treating every dog the same. I provide plenty of companionship, positive reinforcement, exercise, and mental stimulation while making sure they are safe and comfortable in their own home or mine. Most importantly, I want every pet to feel like part of the family while they’re in my care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
