“Can't say enough good things about Sophia. She was extremely caring and loving with our puppy, a true animal lover and very pleasant person to deal with. Thank you once again!!!”

“My dog had an AMAZING time with Nicole. He can be a bit anxious, but warmed right up to her and really enjoyed spending the day napping on the couch and taking walks. If I ever find myself needing a sitter in the area again I would rebook with Nicole in a heartbeat, especially since she even has fenced in areas outside that would be amazing when the weather warms up.”

About: I didn’t get to experience the joy of growing up with dogs or cats but as soon as I was able I began taking in fosters from the NYC shelter system. It was quite a learning experience spending time with many dogs (and a few cats) of all different types and personalities. I no longer foster but I bring the experience and dedication from working with so many shelter pets to caring for your furry family members. And as a pet parent now myself I have been through many sitters so I understand what makes a good one! A note on boarding and meet and greets: I’m happy to have boarding candidates come by to meet me and check out the space but I do not do meet and greets with my own dogs. My dogs are dog friendly but they are too chaotic and excitable to meet new dogs and owners right away. New dogs are kept separate at first and introduced at their own pace when everyone is calm. This minimizes stress for everyone and allows for better interactions. I currently work out of the house Monday/Wednesday/Friday but my schedule is somewhat flexible. The rest of the week I work at home and I am often available all weekend. Dogs in my home have access to a securely fenced large yard for running and fetch, as well as a quiet neighborhood for walks. If the weather is warm dogs have access to a dog door so they may go outside as they please. If your dog likes to play with other dogs mine will certainly be happy to accommodate but they can also have separate spaces if quiet time is needed. In your home I will make every effort to keep your pets schedule as familiar as possible while offering lots of love and stimulation. As someone who has had many sitters come through and stay at my house I understand the importance of trust and cleanliness so you can be away without worry.
About: My own dogs are always the #1 teacher. They show me how to best care for them - with food, play, training, medications, travel, sleepless days and nights when they've been ill, and giving them all them comfort I can. I've volunteered at dog shelters, spent hours walking dogs in all kinds of weather, and offered comfort to friends who've had to say goodbye to their best fur friends. I currently work from home and have a flexible schedule that allows me to give your pets plenty of attention - playing, feeding, and scratching behind the ears. I take my dog for swims in the river, off leash romps in the woods, and leashed walks around town. We also play fetch and tug-of-war in the house or on the deck. If your dog needs a playmate, my dog, Jackson, may be a good fit. My cats - depending on their mood - like to lounge in the sun, pounce on the occasional toy, run up stairs, and hunt for treats I've hidden for them.

About: I grew up with dogs, dogs love me, I love dogs. I'm that guy that dogs who don't normally like people somehow like. It must be a pheromone thing. All breeds, ages, and temperaments welcome. Favorite dog: greyhound. Availability is flexible, I work full time within 20 minutes of home, and also create freelance work at home, so I can usually make any accommodation work in my schedule. I have experience with "problem" dogs including fear aggression, not afraid to work with dogs to gain trust. Available for all services. Let me know what you need! I live alone in a small cottage on 27 acres of untouched forest outside of Kingston, NY, plenty of space to play. I work nearby in Phoenicia, NY. I have a car.

“Bob has been the best dog sitter we've ever worked with. He's very friendly and loves dogs. He gives frequent updates and is very responsive. Also the first time we dropped Walter off he sat me down and took me through a typical day of day care and if I had any questions/if Walter had any dietary restriction. We now drop Walter off on a regular basis without a worry in mind that he's going to have an excellent visit! Thanks to Bob for being so great! ”

When we travel to your home we learn their space and their routine to make the best experience!
“Brody had a great time meeting Alison and Jack. It was calm and clean when we got there. Brody was only there for a meet and greet (2.5 hrs). When I got back he was really happy to see me!”

I take the time to get to know each pet’s personality, routine, and needs so they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. “We recently had the pleasure of using Rachel to watch our mini schnauzer mix, Woody, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. It’s clear that Rachel genuinely loves dogs—she took the time to learn everything about Woody to ensure he received the best care possible. Woody is extremely attached to me, and Rachel went above and beyond to make his stay as calm and anxiety-free as possible. Her thoughtful approach and attention to his needs meant a lot to us. We’re very grateful for the care she gave our pup and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, responsible, and attentive dog sitter.”

“My husband and I were able to have an enjoyable day/evening at Mohonk Mountain House with no worries of our dog with Dawn. She was great with her. She kept us up to date with how her stay was going. She came back happy and exhausted with all the playing she did. Will definitely use her again when she’s needed.”

About: I know how stressful it can be leaving your pet behind, so my goal is to make the experience as smooth and comfortable as possible—for both you and your pet. I’m calm, attentive, and great at sticking to routines. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, or somewhere in between, I provide a safe, loving environment they can relax in. I currently am a student from home so I have more than enough time to take care of your furry companion while you are away. I used to walk my dog around my neighborhood sometimes to the river If it’s really nice out just get her some fresh air. Proper feeding times and bathroom breaks.

Sophia worked out great. We needed a place to drop our golden Lucy while we went on a last minute New Years Day ski trip. She sent pictures of Lucy while we were on the mountain so it was very comforting to know she was happy and taken care of. Highly recommend!

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
