“Weston did a phenomenal job caring for our three pups while we were out of town. He sent multiple updates and photos every day. He went above and beyond in his care, even playing fetch and other games with our youngest dog to get some of her energy out. He was reliable and quick to respond from the start of the booking process (he also helped us out on short notice which was amazing!). We are so thankful for his care and cannot recommend him enough. Would give 10 out of 5 stars if we could. Thank you!!”

“We were originally going to board our dogs during our destination wedding, but I got nervous last minute. Mackenzie saved the day for us. Our dogs loved her and they got to stay home with their routines instead of being anxious somewhere new. Would definitely rebook and highly recommend 💓”

About: I have always had pets in my house that I have taken care of. I love animals, and would love to help out! I consistently walk, feed, and play with my dogs at home. I also have done a ton of volunteering and fostering at local animal shelters! I’m am currently a senior at mizzou, but I have a very relaxed schedule this semester, due to the fact that most of my courses are online. I plan on doing my best to make the dog as comfortable as possible while I am the caretaker. I want to meet and respect the owners needs!
About: I took a very active role in caring for my family dog until he tragically passed from cancer in 2019. I have also dog-sat for neighbors’ pets with particular dietary needs. Currently, I’ve been told by roommates that I have a very calming presence with our house dog. I work part time primarily in the evenings and when not working, I often have community theater rehearsals on weeknights. During the Mizzou school year I will have some classes during the day, though for no more than a few hours at a time. My current house is not available for pet boarding unless specifically negotiated. The property has a non-fenced yard and one resident dog, who does behave well with other animals. Neighborhood is safe, well-paved, and walkable.
About: Hi! I'm a pre-vet student who has been working in a small-animal veterinary clinic for over 3 years and pet sitting for about 5 years. I absolutely love animals and enjoy getting to know each pet's unique personality! Working in a vet clinic has given me hands-on experience caring for animals, and I'm comfortable with both dogs and cats. I know how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets, and I'll treat yours like they're my own. Whether it's going on walks, playing, sticking to their usual routine, or just giving them extra love and attention while you're away, I'm happy to help! During the school year, I would love to spend my weekends caring for your pets so I can give them plenty of time, attention, and love! During school breaks, I have much more flexibility during the week and can accommodate longer visits or more frequent pet sitting. I'm happy to work with you to find a schedule that fits your pet's needs and keeps them comfortable while you're away! I have a fenced-in yard where dogs can safely play and get some outdoor time, and there are no other pets in my home. I do have three roommates who are all comfortable around dogs and would be happy to give your pup some extra love! I'm also able to crate your dog if needed and will always follow your instructions to help them feel safe and comfortable. If your pet is more comfortable in their own environment, I'm happy to stay at your home or do drop-in visits instead. My goal is to make sure your pet feels loved, safe, and as comfortable as possible while you're away!

About: I have extensive hands-on experience caring for dogs through my professional work in veterinary care. I’ve cared for and handled dogs with a wide range of personalities, sizes, ages, and needs, including providing daily care, exercise, and following individualized routines. I’m especially comfortable with dogs who need extra attention, patience, or close monitoring. I’m reliable, attentive to detail, and quick to notice changes in a pet’s behavior or wellbeing. Most importantly, I treat every dog with patience, compassion, and the same level of care I would want for my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work Monday through Friday from 7 AM–4 PM, but I’m available before and after work, as well as during my lunch break, for pet visits and care. I’m available from 5–7 AM, 11 AM–1 PM, and 4–8 PM during the week. My weekends are completely open, so I have plenty of flexibility for longer visits, walks, drop-ins, and extended stays. I also have two cats of my own, so caring for animals is already an important part of my everyday life! I focus on keeping pets comfortable, safe, and on their normal routine. In a client’s home, I follow their feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions closely while making sure their pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship. I’m comfortable caring for dogs with different energy levels and personalities and understand that every pet has their own routine and preferences. My professional animal-care experience has also taught me to be very attentive to changes in behavior or wellbeing. I treat every home and pet with the same respect and care I would expect for my own.

About: I have had a dog or cat (or multiple!) in my home since I was a small child. I love to walk and experience nature through a dogs eyes, as well as rest and love on cats in the comfort of the indoors. My schedule is quite variable at the moment, which leaves me free for last minute visits with your fluffy friends! I am almost always free in the evenings if your pet needs someone to serve their dinner 🍽️ I aim to give your lovely four legged friend(s) the most compassionate care possible. Loving on your pets gives me great joy and makes my day!

About: I have been dog-sitting for friends and acquaintances for the past couple of years. I am very accommodating and flexible. Whatever you need or request, I will do my best to fulfill it. My daily schedule gives me the flexibility to help you out anyway and anytime. I enjoy dogs of all sizes and attitudes. I work a very flexible day-to-day job that allows me to venture out and take care of your pet at most times of the day. I am also pretty flexible on days of the week and times of year to sit. I treat your pets as if they were my own. I do my best to make space for pets to choose whether they want attention or to be left alone, and try not to force contact. I also look to socialize the pet as much as I can fit in my strategy whether that is being present, going on walks, or letting them outdoors.

About: I've been a technician assistant for 6 years and am a current 2nd year vet student. In clinics I was able to medicate and administer different treatments based on the doctors recommendation. I am a full time vet student so my hours may vary. I see caring for your pets as as an honor and responsibility. If I take a shift I aim to honor it. I'm willing to help out and check in on your pets if needed. I'm able to feed, take outside to use the restroom, and medicate your pets if needed. Please let me know if additional care for your pet is needed so I can see if it is a task I am able to complete.
About: I have grown up with Dogs and Cats my whole life. I have also pet/house sat for family and friends through middle school, high school and now college. I have/had many dogs and cats who have been/are massive parts of our family. 4 German Shepherds, Apache, Zoom, Ranger and Camo. 1 Husky Cherokee and 2 Australian Shepherds Banjo and Max. As for the school year I’m pretty open as well. We will have to communicate and see what works best for everyone at that time. I was raised to hold myself to high standards and values some of these values are summed up best by the Army values, Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selflessness Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. I believe you need all of these to not only be the best version of yourself but pull the best out of others, person or paw. I care for my pets by making them an important part of my life! I love to be active and take my dog on runs/walks and play. As for my cat when I’m doing Homework or relaxing after a long day she likes to snuggle me or play with her toys. Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of October 2026, there are 212 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sapp. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sapp walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sapp maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sapp choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
