“Alexia was the best! Very professional and caring. She watched our (anxious) hound when we were on vacation in Harper’s Ferry. We are from another state, didn’t know the area and didn’t have definite plans until we arrived. Alexia was flexible and understanding. She responded to text quickly and followed all directions. Most importantly our dog loved her! She is a gem. Highly recommend!!”

“Allison takes great care of our cats and always sends the cutest pictures and narratives about her time with them! She makes sure they are happy and well taken care of”

About: I have always had a pet in my house since the day I was born. Mostly dogs, but I have also had other smaller pets. I now have one 12 year old chocolate lab and one 6 year old black lab that I take care of everyday. Because of this I have experience with puppies and older dogs, along with dealing with more than one pet at a time. I currently have school from 10:30-2:15 but I am free anytime before then and after that. I also am available almost every weekend if needed. I have a fenced in yard with a doggy door to get outside and two friendly dogs to keep your pet company. I love to take my pets on walks or just play with them in the house or yard.
About: I manage a busy, diverse household of my own, which means I am highly experienced, unfazed by complex routines, and comfortable handling a wide variety of personalities. My personal pack includes: Two Large Dogs & A Cat: I am fully accustomed to the distinct needs, energy levels, and feeding structures of both large dogs and cats. A Flock of 43 Chickens: Managing a large flock has given me a deep understanding of animal husbandry, strict feeding schedules, flock safety, and overall bird wellness. Hermit Crabs: I even have experience with the precise humidity, environmental, and dietary care required for exotic pocket pets! Because I handle such a diverse group of animals daily, I am incredibly observant, highly organized, and detail-oriented. I will precisely follow your feeding instructions, medication schedules, and specific care routines down to the letter. My days are structured but highly adaptive, meaning I can easily step away to accommodate last-minute, short-notice, or same-day drop-in requests for local pet parents. All pet care will be in your own home, allowing you more freedom in your day! Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, mature. I will treat your home and pets just like my own!
About: My whole life we had cats and dogs. I have house sat for neighbors and friends with pets since I was ten years old. I currently own a rabbit. I have also cared for all kinds of rodents, fish, and reptiles. I have trained puppies and kittens and a bunny. I also cared for my older dachshund and gave him shots and necessary medications. I work part time teaching yoga throughout the week and have lots of availability. I only have custody of my kids every other week making my week without them a great time for extra hours and house sitting. I keep pets from being hungry, thirsty, or bored. I keep pets nicely groomed and their areas and things nicely cleaned. I offer direct focus and affection. I can walk or run with dogs. I love doing yoga on the floor and watching cats or my rabbit climb all over me and get affection.
“Ximena is wonderful! She gave us plenty of support and advice as we transitioned to becoming dog owners in December 2025! Our dog Daisy loved Ximena from the very first time she met her! Ximena is very intuitive with a dog or pet’s needs. She always used positive reinforcement to guide Daisy in commands. She is always patient, gentle and kind with animals. She even gave Daisy a gift when she had moved farther away. Honestly we were so devastated that Ximena would not be able to walk Daisy anymore. We have had other dog walkers but no one as consistent and sweet as Ximena. She always sends lots of photos and detailed messages about the walks. We wish she could still be walking Daisy! We highly recommend Ximena if you need care for your pet!”

“Lauren was super responsive and took great care of our very energetic 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd. Our dog was very well cared for and happy with two daily walks and feeding. I recommend Lauren and give her 5 stars for a green job.”

About: I've been caring for animals for as long as I can remember and have two dogs and a cat of my own. Friends, family, and neighbors trust me to care for their pets when they're away, and I'm often the first person they call when they need a reliable pet sitter. I treat every animal as if they are my own. I just love animals!! I have a very flexible schedule as I just graduated college and am looking for a full time job. I am available throughout the day, any day of the week typically!! When caring for pets in your home, I will follow their normal routines, make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away.
“Heather is the most amazing sitter ever. Mischa isn’t friendly towards anyone but Heather took the extra steps to try and win her over. She would walk Max outside to go potty when he was being stubborn. She was informative, kept in contact and so very kind to my doggos. I will a thousand percent recommend Heather to anyone.”

“Tess did an amazing job sitting for our pups. Punctual, very communicative, and most importantly our dogs were tuckered out at the end of the day. Will definitely hire again, A++ reliable sitter!”

“Disha was a joy to work with and was very pleasant and patient with my Nala since this was my first time being a way from her. I loved the patience she took to warm up to my puppy and make her feel at home and comfortable. I highly recommend Disha. She is a sweetheart!”

“Celina was excellent! There was a miscommunication on my part, but Celina handled it with so much understanding and she did a wonderful job with our very hyper Aussie. She sent us photos and updates at every check-in. I would highly recommend her for drop in visits.”
“Laura was a wonderful sitter and gave her a above 5 stars! Neuro really liked her. He got ready for his dinner when she arrived at the door. She explained about how Neuro was doing. I highly recommend to use her service.”
“Matthew came last minute for me and did a phenomenal job. I have a Cane Corso and German Shepherd and he handled both without any issues. Def will be using him again and highly recommend him.”

“Jennifer was awesome checking in on my 2 cats while I was away at a conference. We texted and also spoke via phone about each cat’s need, how they may respond with a new person, and my expectations. She spent the time of the short check in to ensure they were fed, watered, and did play time with them. She also kept me apprised the entire time. I plan to use her in the future and highly recommend her!”

“When we arrived after our five day trip, we encountered our two furbabies freshly woken from a nap, without a care in the world, as if they also had taken a vacation! Wordda made sure our boys were looked after and satisfied. Thank you for everything! <3”

About: Currently a stay at home mom. Prior to being a mom I was a pet sitter for 10+ years, but took some time off to focus on my family. I’m excited to get back to hanging out with all the animals! I grew up on a small horse farm and have always had dogs and cats. I have done horse sitting as well as dog/cats! I currently have an American Staffordshire terrier, Archie! Archie has a unique story to how we adopted him. He was a rescue from a hurricane in NC! I have a big soft spot for rescues and pits. Being a stay at home mom has left me with an open schedule and plenty of time to care for your pet. In some cases I may need to bring my son but I do wear him during my time there and that will always be discussed prior to me caring for your pet. I’m able to crate your dog if needed and follow your instructions on how to handle your pets. I have experience with giving some oral medications to my dog and would be happy to do so if that’s needed for your pet.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,474 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Sandy Hook. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sandy Hook. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
