“Melissa and her husband are very friendly people and you can tell talking to them that they know about dogs. As a dog parent that is very important but also comforting to know when leaving my dog with a sitter especially if it's overnight. Well I have already used their services twice and I'm very happy. Duke seems pretty happy too when he goes there as not only do they take good care of him but they also have 3 dogs so he has buddies to run around and play with. I highly recommend Melissa to any dog parent wanting to find a good, caring dogsitter to leave your pup with when you have to go somewhere for an extended period. I know I plan to use her services again. Good job Melissa!”

“Ilona took great care of our dog and made us feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. He looked very happy in all the photos she provided. We will definitely continue to book with Ilona in the future.”

“Areli is FAB! Wow. Lily was cozy and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Absolutely wonderful experience having Areli care for my sweet baby. Will def book again! ✨✨✨♥️”

“Tina was very gracious and took in Obiwan. He had a wonderful time and Tina kept us up to date on Obi's progress throughout the day with pictures and narrative. She is located in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of space in the backyard. I would recommend Tina to anyone that wants someone that really cares about your pet.”

“Melisa was amazing, offered to even meet prior to the arrangement and took wonderful care of our pup. We will be using her in the future, glad we found her. Very responsive and flexible.”

“I can’t recommend Jorge highly enough! From the moment I dropped my dogs off, it was clear how much thought, care, and energy he puts into making sure the dogs in his care are happy, safe, and having a great time. Jorge keeps the dogs active with trips to parks and dog parks, and he does a wonderful job managing their interactions with other dogs. His home is truly set up with dogs in mind—an amazing front yard with plenty of room to play, a secure fenced area, a pool, outdoor water, and lots of space for them to enjoy themselves. He even has an agenda for their day and pays close attention to feeding schedules, activity levels, and what each dog needs. What impressed me most were all the little things. When one of my dogs rolled in poo, Jorge washed her off—and then went above and beyond by giving my other dog some extra attention too, including conditioner and brushing her out. When they weren’t interested in their food after such an active day, he made sure they still got treats. He also sent me lots of pictures and videos throughout their stay, so I could see how much fun they were having. But the best review really came from my dogs themselves. On the second day, as soon as we pulled up, they jumped out and ran straight into Jorge’s house, excited to be back. That absolutely warmed my heart because there is no better reassurance than seeing your dogs genuinely happy to return. Jorge is incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful, and it’s obvious that he genuinely cares about the dogs he watches. I felt completely comfortable knowing mine were with him. I would absolutely book with Jorge again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who will treat their dogs like his own.”

“Brian has been great. He makes it easy to drop off & pick up. He keeps us updated during each of Brinley’s stays, by sending pictures, videos, and texts on how our fur puppy dog is doing.”
“Fiona took such great care of my dog Teddy! She made sure to update us by sending lots of photos and videos which I really appreciate. I could tell Teddy felt very comfortable at her place. Thank you again! I highly recommend Fiona to take care of your fur babies!”

“Laura did a great job with our 6 month old pup that is very skittish. She sent a couple pictures and updates during the day which helped put our minds at ease. I highly recommend and would use her again.”

About: I have over 10 years of experience with dog sitting, helping family and friends’ dogs. I have two dogs myself, a pug and a terrier mixed. They are both well behaved and trained, they love having friends over. I do work on the weekdays, but weekends are usually free with the dogs and kids at home. We love to take them for a long walk around the neighborhood. I have a fenced in backyard and front yard, my dogs love it. It will be great for many more friends to join during the weekends.
“Michelle is amazing! She sent pictures and videos throughout the day of my 4, almost 5 month old lab. I can’t express how thankful I found her and someone I can trust with my pup!”

“My baby Makana had a great time at JJ’s house.. Though we didn’t see the host’s interior of the house where the pets are, the pictures she had sent looked clean and safe.. It’s Makana’s first time to socialize with 2 dogs since she turned 2 yrs old due to some health issues when she’s a pup. We thought it’s time for her to explore and find out if she is well adjusted now that she’s an adult. She is as expected to be a little shy but was able to adapt and became comfortable. She is tired and pretty happy bec she had a play date with Zuri ( the host’s furbaby) and another furbaby. I’m glad that JJ has been sending pic and videos of our baby’s socialization activities and so nice of their son to play with the FBabies.. Thank you and will definitely recommend her services.”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Sandberg commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
