“Emily did a wonderful job of taking care of our two cats! She was extremely responsive and sent daily photos and updates that were super fun to read. We’ll definitely be rebooking the next time we need someone to look after our cats!”

“Thank you to Christina for taking care of our three cats while we were out of town. We have three very different cat personalities and she was able to meet everyone’s needs. Would recommend and use again!”

“Lauren took amazing care of my kitty! This was my first time leaving her with a sitter, and Lauren made me feel so comfortable and reassured. I never had to worry while I was away, and I came home to a happy kitty! I highly recommend booking with her :)”

“Lily took great care of my kitten this week! I booked on short notice after she spent the weekend at the emergency vet. Would 100% recommend and I've already rebooked for the future :)”

“Absolutely Fabulous!!! 10/10 highly recommend!! She did a wonderful job taking care of my two cats (and the one is iffy about new people) she sent tons of pictures and sent updates about the cats and even updated me on home issues like packages. I was so nervous to hire a sitter after moving to the area without a lot of family to watch my cats, but my fears melted away. Again would 10/10 recommended Janelle she did an amazing job!”

About: My family always had a pet dog. As a kid I would feed and walk dogs in the neighborhood while they were out of town. As I grew older I would stay at family or friend's homes if they went out of town. I'm in search of a similar situation in South Bend - dog walking and light housework included! Weekdays I can stop in and let the dog(s) out for bathroom breaks. On weekends/evenings I can stay at your home so that the dog is familiar and will make myself available 100% during that time. I prefer to stay or drop in to my client's home. I find that the dog is more familiar/comfortable this way too. I am happy to do a test run so that everyone feels comfortable/familiar!
About: I've had pets since I was a kid and I'm a huge animal lover — the go-to person for pet care among family and friends. I currently have three cats of my own, so I'm very comfortable in multi-cat households — reading their individual personalities, sticking to feeding schedules, and keeping stress low when routines change. My biggest test was house-sitting for a neighbor for a full week, managing 4 dogs and 3 cats at once — juggling different feeding times and exercise needs without missing a beat. I'm calm under pressure, detail-oriented with instructions, and treat every home with respect and care as if it were my own. I work full-time (9–5), so I'm available for in-home visits, dog walking, and in-home overnight care before work, after work, and all weekend. I'm also an early riser, so morning visits work well too. I'm flexible and can accommodate most feeding, play, or walk schedules around my job. I live in an apartment set up specifically with cats in mind — window perches, a self-cleaning litter box, and a wall-mounted cat jungle gym with climbing shelves and hideaways. My own cat Milo also enjoys supervised leash walks outside, so I'm comfortable and experienced with that if your cat is leash-trained too. Your pet's safety and comfort always come first, whether that means sticking closely to their routine or just giving them space to settle in. While cats are my specialty, I also have real dog experience — I've taken dogs outside to play in open spaces, and I know how to walk them confidently and keep them engaged. I once house-sat for a neighbor for a full week, caring for 4 dogs and 3 cats together. I'm also not afraid to set boundaries when needed, so your dog gets both playtime and structure.

“Carly was amazing! My cats are usually very shy but they warmed up to her in no time! She was able to watch our babies on very short notice and made sure to send lots of pictures and videos! I will definitely rebook her for future needs.”

About: I’m a lifelong dog dad who’s raised everything from tiny puppies to wild, energetic corgis and a sweet Aussie doodle. My wife and I currently have both, so I’m very used to high-energy breeds, stubborn personalities, and dogs who need structure, patience, and plenty of play. I’ve also cared for our senior dog through physical therapy, mobility support, and daily medication management, so I’m comfortable with dogs who need extra attention or special routines. Over the years, I’ve trained multiple dogs to behave reliably off‑leash, and I take pride in helping dogs feel confident, safe, and understood. I’m home full‑time right now, supporting my wife’s business and caring for our own pups, which means I’m flexible, responsible, and able to give your dog the kind of consistent, attentive care that makes them feel right at home. I’m also happy to care for cats with the same patience and attention I give dogs. We have two cats of our own with completely different personalities, so I’m comfortable with shy, independent cats as well as social, curious ones. I understand their routines, boundaries, and quirks, and I make sure they feel safe, respected, and cared for while you’re away. I’m home full‑time right now, caring for our dogs and supporting my wife’s business, so my schedule is very flexible throughout the day. I just ask for at least a day’s notice so I can plan around our home routine, but once scheduled, I’m able to give your pets consistent attention and care. Even though I’m home most of the time, I can be out for a couple of hours when needed, and I’m comfortable coordinating visits, walks, or drop‑ins around that. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for while keeping communication clear and easy. Your pet’s safety is always my first priority. I keep a calm, structured home where routines are followed, boundaries are respected, and every animal gets the attention they need to feel secure. I’m experienced with puppies, high‑energy dogs, seniors who need extra support, and cats with all kinds of personalities, so I’m comfortable adjusting care to match each pet’s needs. I maintain a clean, pet‑friendly environment with safe spaces for resting, supervised play, and outdoor time when appropriate. I’m reliable, communicative, and always mindful of each pet’s comfort level. Whether your pet needs medication, extra patience, or just a steady, reassuring presence, I make sure they’re cared for with consistency, respect, and genuine love.

About: I have been caring for pets for a long time! I am very familiar with alarms and enjoy caring for other people’s pets! Nothing scares me. Not even 4 litter boxes. I am the kind of person who does it all. I’m commonly baking or gardening, but will always make time in my life to care for pets! They love us no matter what so they deserve lots of love! I am familiar with alarms and comfortable with cameras. I try to treat everyone’s home with respect and clean up after myself. Pet care can get messy but I’ll find the paper towels and clean up, don’t worry!
“We had a really good experience with Kylie taking care of both the cats. Both cats gelled with her, she made sure to share many pictures from every visit. Had a peace of mind, knowing they were in good hands. We will definitely approach her again if we get a chance.”

About: I’ve owned dogs my whole life and I’ve often cared for the dogs of my family friends! I feel comfortable working with dogs of all sizes. As a college athlete, I understand balancing busy schedules with taking care of pets, and I would love to spend time with your pets either for a walking break or to hang out with them while I study! I am a full-time medical student but can easily fit dog sitting into my study schedule! I will have slightly more availability on weekends but will hopefully be flexible as needed. I treat my client’s home like I’d want them to treat mine! I often end up doing some extra cleaning where needed and I always clean up after myself and their pets. Coming back to a clean and well-kept home is always a breath of fresh air after time away!
Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Roseland
Jessica & Andre G. were excellent. We could not have found a more caring sitter. We loved the photos and the notes. Jessica was so easy to talk to and very understanding with changes we needed. We are booking her again next month and look forward to working with her. We would highly recommend.
Hanling took excellent care of our kitty! She came in advance to meet him and get instructions in person, and spent lots of time playing and cuddling with him on each visit so he wouldn't be too lonely while we were gone. She also sent us lots of pictures of him. We will definitely call her the next time we need a pet sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
