“Spent lots of time with my kitties was just what the doctor ordered! They are so needy and lovey and Rob gave them the attention they desired. They are also usually weary of men but not Rob, they were completely comfortable hanging out together.”

“We felt comfortable leaving our babies with Stephanie after the meet and greet. Stephanie communicates and sends pictures throughout the stay. It was great to see Jack and Mama kitty relaxed when we got home. Will definitely use Stephanie’s services again!”

“Ariel was absolutely wonderful with my baby BubbieLoo! He requires medicine for his Epilepsy and she was great with meds and giving me lots of updates. Would highly recommend her!!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 11yo. I’ve cared for Australian Shepherds, Poodles, Rat Terriers, Cairn Terriers, Papillions, Irish Wolfhounds, Pit Bulls, Bichon Frisés, and more. I have four dogs now: German Shepherd Mix, German Shorthaired Pointer, and two Pembroke Corgis. I’m familiar with small and large dogs. I’m non-judgmental and understanding if your baby has separation-anxiety. I work 8AM to 4PM Monday through Thursday, but am free to watch your babies in the evening and Friday through Sunday. I provide drop-in visits and house-sitting. I have a fenced-in yard, two crates and four dogs all ready to be their new best friend! I do prefer to watch them in your home, not mine as I have one dog that isn’t the most friendly.

“Robyn took great care of my two dogs and they had a wonderful weekend hanging with her at my home. Robyn’s dog also joined and was very friendly to my dogs, who can sometimes be wary of other dogs. I got lots of pictures and videos and was able to enjoy my weekend away knowing the dogs were getting lots of pets and snuggles!”

“Violet was amazing. I came home to a clean house and a very happy dog. Violet was very good at communicating and sending pictures. I even had neighbors approach me to let me know that my dog was very happy on her walks and that Violet was really good with her. I have already recommended her to a coworker and I will absolutely use her services again.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats for over 20 years. The dogs stay in the house with us and we have have 2 fenced areas where they can run and play. Dogs sleep in our house with us uncrated, unless you request them to be crated at night, or if they exhibit destructive or aggressive behavior or create potty messes at night. I’m usually home as I am working on various projects on my property. It’s important to understand that I’m not “in business” as a dog boarding company. I sit dogs in my home because I love dogs and it helps me and my sons to earn a little extra. Please think of us as a family who is happy to help when you want a loving family caring for your dog in their home, instead of a professional dog boarding business (with paid staff, protocols, and more rigid safety measures in place). We run a home, not a dog boarding business. If your dog is friendly and not destructive you are welcome to request a stay for your dog in our home. With this in mind I have set hours to protect our time as a family. Please request specific drop-off & pick-up times between 7am & 7pm For daycare I try to be more accommodating to work schedules, so we can discuss the times that meet your needs and fit in with our home-life. I have one large fenced area and one smaller fenced area and 25 acres to walk the dogs. I spend time playing with the dogs and sometimes work on basic training skills. Depending on the dog, they will spend time in the house, or outside fenced areas, on the gated front porch. I have a trail through the main fenced area and I also have walking trails on my property.

About: While I’m new to pet sitting professionally, caring for animals has always been something I’ve genuinely enjoyed.I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I take the time to follow care instructions carefully, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, playtime, administering basic care, or simply providing companionship. I know how important it is for pet owners to feel confident while they’re away, and I pride myself on being dependable, communicative, and respectful of both your home and your pet’s needs. Schedule I’m currently a college student and attend classes during the mornings. Because I don’t have another job, I have a flexible schedule and am available most afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pet’s care. How I Care for Pets As a pet owner myself, I understand that every animal deserves patience, attention, and personalized care. I currently care for dogs, cats, and a rabbit, so I’m familiar with the different needs and routines each species requires. When caring for clients’ pets, I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully because I know every pet has unique preferences and needs. I treat every animal with the same care and respect I give my own, and I make it a priority to keep owners updated with messages and photos so they can feel confident their pets are happy and well cared for.
“Darian was absolutely amazing with our puppies! She took good care of them, was super responsive and even went above and beyond to pick up one of them from the vet while recovering from a sickness. I already have her booked for more time with her and so very thankful to have her!”

About: I've been dog sitting for friends and family since 2022 and for the last year, I worked for a boutique dog hotel in Nashville. I have experience with all types of dog breeds, age ranges, and temperaments. I have always had a huge love for dogs from an early age and am grateful to have found my purpose in the dog care industry. I believe in-home sitting and drop in visits are the better options for keeping your babies' stress levels at a minimum while you're away. My only mission is to help you keep your fur babies happy, safe, loved, and never feeling lonely! I am prioritizing pet care to be my main focus in life, so with proper notice and planning, I am currently fully available for my services. I am unable to host within my current lease. My goal is to get into the swing of their routines and habits in your home, so that they are staying on track with any schedules you have in place. I want your dog to feel as comfortable as possible, so no request will ever be ignored... even if you think it seems silly! I have nothing but respect for other people and their home. I want everyone to feel at ease when choosing to use my services knowing your home, property, and dogs will be safe with me!
“Cassandra did a terrific job with our "old lady" elderly cat! Her communication was great, she did a meet and greet ahead of our trip, and Polly was happy and did so much better with someone here at the house instead of drop-ins. Our house was spotless when we arrived home. We have already booked her again for future stays!”

About: I’ve been caretaking for all types of animals for over 15 years. From training puppies to pampering seniors & everything between, I’ve been the go-to for neighbors, friends & family when it comes to their pet care needs. As a farmer, I have a flexible schedule to provide for your needs & have been a farm-sitter for many satisfied folks! I work part-time (have those days blocked off my pet care calendar), so I will be able to give 100% of my time to your pet(s). I am available during the day to walk your pet(s), give them a potty break, play with them, feed them, show them attention & so on. I am also available for doggie daycare in my home where I can provide utmost safety & playtime. My care regimen is flexible & can be catered to individuals’ needs. I have a large yard & many spare 15-20ft leashes to keep your pet safe while providing quality playtime. I also have a dog to help keep your fur baby company while in my care! Your dog can hang out with us in my home, or upon your request I can crate your fur baby & take them out for as many walks/potty/play breaks as you’d like.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 744 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rome. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rome walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rome maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rome choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rome. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
