“Valerie has watched my kitty, Sammy, three times now. She shows up as promised and sends me photos of my sweet boy. She doesn’t hesitate to contact me with questions or to reassure that Sammy is fine. I’d recommend Valerie to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter.”

“We couldn’t be any happier with the love and care Erica gave to our two dogs today. She sent lots of pictures, reviewed her visits, left a sweet card and brought them a toy each. We had no worries that they were looking bed and well cared for! I would highly recommend her!”

About: I have previously volunteered at a rescue for 10 years. I have fostered many animals for the rescue and kept some of those as well. I can handle almost anything. I've also had my fair share of special needs animals, so I'm comfortable handling pets whose needs are out of the ordinary. I've also worked with and owned most types of animals ranging from a few weeks old to 20+ years, so I can provide care to very young or very old animals. I just graduated college and am currently between jobs, so I am at home working on my fixer-upper apartment all day. My schedule is entirely flexible! I will be available almost all waking hours of the day. I can stop in on your schedule to provide care and walks, or just stay over to give the pets round the clock care. I will make sure that your pet stays happy and healthy while in my care!
“They were patient with us even though we forgot to give them the door code before they arrived, and they stayed longer than we booked to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable! Will definitely book again”

About: I've been around cats and dogs of various sizes and personalities since I was very young. I have pet- and house-sat for friends and family for many years now, and it is a genuine joy to spoil their pets rotten. I have owned and pet-sat senior dogs and cats many times, and I have a decent amount of experience with oral medication. I get along great with pets of all kinds of temperaments—shy, excited, grumpy, calm, anxious—and I am not afraid to sit for pets with "difficult" temperaments, just let me know beforehand. I am an at-home writer and content creator, so I have flexible hours and can work from anywhere with an internet connection. I am my own boss, so I can easily cater to your schedule. As a proud introvert and work-from-home writer, I would spend the majority of my time with your pets at your home in a quiet, calm environment. I can easily follow instructions about your pets' normal routines while giving them lots of snuggles and pets, so they can stay loved and cared for without interruption.

About: When you're away, your pets deserve more than a quick visit—they deserve knowledgeable, compassionate care from someone who understands their health, comfort, and unique personalities. My journey in animal care began long before I became a registered nurse. I worked as a kennel manager and completed most of a veterinary technician program before a family illness led me to pursue "human" nursing. That unique combination of veterinary training and healthcare experience allows me to provide attentive, responsible care for your beloved pets. What Sets Me Apart: - Former Kennel Manager with hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments - Extensive experience with cats, including shy, senior, and special-needs pets - Registered Nurse accustomed to careful observation, medication management, and responding calmly to unexpected situations - Formal Veterinary Technician Training with education in animal health, behavior, and basic medical care - Experience caring for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, ferrets, and other small pets Services Available Dog sitting Cat sitting Daily visits and companionship Walks and exercise Feeding and medication administration Puppy and senior pet care Vacation and weekend coverage Photo and text updates for pet parents I understand that pets are family. My goal is to keep them safe, comfortable, and loved while giving you confidence and peace of mind. Professional. Experienced. Compassionate. Contact me to schedule a meet-and-greet and learn how I can help care for your furry family members. I am currently semi-retired, so I have flexibility in my schedule to hopefully meet your needs. I like to try to keep pets in their regular routine while their owners are away, so I will do my best to work with you on that. Although we have space to care for your pets in our home/land, we don't have a fenced in property and I wouldn't want to stress my own pets with "strangers" in the house. (I also feel that keeping a pet in their home environment is much less stressful for them than relocating them.) I'd be happy to come to your home to and provide quality care to your four-legged (or less) family members. I have owned my own home my entire adult life, so I will honor yours as if it were my own.
“Lexi was absolutely wonderful! I had a last minute cancellation and she responded so quickly this morning to feed and walk my sweet Bergen! She is amazing! Highly recommended! Very communicative and my dog loved her.”

“Jessica was great! She took great care of our boston terrier while we were gone for the entire day. She contacted us if there was a problem related to information we had failed to explain and sent pictures and a report on Twig’s care. She is very knowledgeable about animal care and I felt very relaxed with her caring for Twig! We would highly recommend her.”

“Mandy is wonderful with my almost 5 year old Sheltie and 16 month old Golden Retriever. She is very dependable and takes great care of my girls. I would recommend her for drop in visits!”

About: I have taken care of big and small dogs since I can remember. I love meeting new animals and making them feel safe and happy! I am extremely respectful of peoples space and am always early to everything! I have experience giving animals medications as well as dealing with food allergies. I also have experience with senior animals. My parents chihuahua is 20 years old and is also blind/deaf and I am always their first call for a sitter! I have two dogs of my own and they are my babies! I can’t wait to meet yours! I currently work at a Taco Bell as a General Manager. I make my own schedule so I will be able to squeeze in clients last minute! I work 8-10hrs a day so it will be no problem for me to be able to visit with your pups before and after my shifts! I am a master at following directions! I can follow any list of directions you would like followed while i am house sitting/pet sitting! I have experience crating animals & also walking on a leash!
“Lauren is fantastic! We were nervous to hire a sitter for the first time, but it was clear that our babies had a blast while we were gone. We have a cat who usually hides in the closet whenever friends come over to watch him, but he actually came out and let Lauren give him scritches! Her communication was great, she was reliable, and we always knew our pets were doing well.”

About: Hi there! My name is Ashtyn! My whole life has been filled with animals! Growing up, I had a Yellow Lab, Dawson, and Maine Coon, Zeke. Sadly, they went to doggy and kitty heaven when I was around 10🥺 In November of 2023, I lost my sweet Treeing-Walker Coonhound named, Maverick. He was as feisty as they come! Now, my husband & I spend our time loving on his pup, Bella, a Pitbull/Alaskan Malamute mix, & our 1-year-old Dachshund, Rex. Although I got connected on Rover in 2023, I have taken care of all different dog breeds from small to large over the past 6 years. Many of them have been in this area, while some were down in West Palm Beach, Florida when I lived there! I have consistent clients all around!! I would love for you & your pup to be one ◡̈ I just graduated with my degree in Communications & Journalism, which led to my new dog-sitting company! I also sit through Rover!! I am available full-time ☺️ I prefer to care for your pet in the home that they are used to! That being said, I can stay at your home overnight, just during the day, or come over intermittently for walks!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rocky Mount. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
