“Great communication from Ashley! I received pictures and videos and continual love from afar about my sweet boy. Huge yard and a great home for any doggie. Excited to have Bowie hosted there again, highly recommended! Great experience!”

“Shalyn, Joseph and their family were awesome with our Jazzi and Lady! Sadie, their dog is super friendly and easy going. They all got a long great! The kids pampered our fur babies and we're so gentle with them. Fenced in yard and plenty of room to run. They walked them regularly and updates were super. We are lucky to have found them here on Rover. Highly recommend!”

“Mary took the best care of my special needs little girl. Daily pictures and updates made us feel so at ease. She went above and beyond to make sure our pup was as happy as possible while she was away from her family. We already booked with her again for our next get away. Highly recommend her!!”

“Knight loves staying at June's. June is one of Knight's favorite people and as a bonus, Knight also gets to play with Cookie. My husband and I know that Knight was safe and well taken care of. Knight came home relaxed and happy! Booking another boarding request for August :)”

“Dorothy is amazing and we couldn’t recommend her enough. She took the time to get to know my pup and her needs, and sent many updates while we were away. We are happy to have found someone we trust so much!”

“Jessica was the perfect host for Atticus and very accommodating. We had a last minute work trip come up and she was willing to let us book lat minute. While in the trip I had to extend to another day and Jessica had no hesitation in allowing us to extend for an extra night! We are thankful for such a loving host and enjoyed the wonderful pictures through out his stay! Thank you for the amazing stay with Atticus.”

“Nicole and her family are great! I felt very comfortable leaving my baby in their capable hands. I received pictures regularly and could tell he was a happy pup. I highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a happy environment for their pups.”

“I don't know where to start. They took care of our dog for 8 days and we were able to enjoy our vacation without worrying. I received daily updates with pictures, videos and kind words. They are wonderful! I would highly recommend Shauna & Peter’s family and I will use them again without doubt. Thank You!!”

“Absolutely amazing, my dog has stayed with and friends anx family before and usually for at least a few days she wont eat, she wont come out from under a bed, she was out and eating before the first day was up. I was absolutely stunned and so was my family. Will 100% use again for my next trip!”

“We couldn’t be happier about the care our greyhound Steely Dan received from Derek and his family while we were on a 3-week vacation. During the time we were away we regularly received updates and photos that assured us Steely was being made to feel at home. Derek has a large dog, Ellie, who is quite friendly, and there were no issues with Steely and Ellie spending time together. Steely is sensitive to thunderstorms, and the meds we provided were administered appropriately with no issues. Finally, when we picked Steely up, he seemed relaxed and content. We always felt confident he was in exceedingly capable hands.”

“We are very happy with the care our puppy received during the nine days she was with Deanne. We received an update with pictures approximately every two days. We would not hesitate to book with her again.”

“Cheryl and Jim were fantastic!! They took great care of our old girl, and treated her like family. She has some specific dietary requirements that they handled perfectly, sharing updates and pictures the whole time we were gone. Great communication, made us feel at ease, and we would not hesitate calling on them again. Highly recommended!!”
“Wonderful experience for both us and our dog. She was kind and welcoming making our girl feel right at home. She also was a wonderful communicator. Her picture updates and videos made me feel at ease while we were out of town. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Geraldene!! Her care and compassion for our Luna was top notch!! Highly recommend!”

About: Hi there! My name is Stephanie and have ample experience and tons of love for dogs! We have rescued a few pups with varying personalities and support requirements from partial paralysis, fear-aggression and anxiety. I have experience in dog walking, boarding and administration of medications (our own pup takes meds daily). I do have a 2 year old toddler at home along with an 11-year-old dachshund mix so any boarding requests should take that into consideration and will be vetted accordingly! I do work from home so your love bug would get lots of attention !
“This was my first time leaving my 6 month old puppy. Carla made the whole process very easy and pleasant. We first did a meet and greet. I knew right then and there that the reviews I had been reading were spot on. I loved the idea that my puppy was going to be with other dogs. Perfect for socializing him. I also was appreciative that my pup was in a familiar situation as home. Carla texted me everyday with videos. Which made this whole experience easier for myself. Don’t hesitate on using Carla as she really is that great!!”

“Julia was absolutely a dream! She took such incredible care of our Weimaraner, Mozzie. Great communication, great photos and she made sure he had his own vacation while we were away! 10/10 and will rebook again!”

“The second we turn into Sumer’s neighborhood, our dog starts whining in excitement—he LOVES spending time there and runs into her house to greet his friends without so much as a glance back to say goodbye to us 😂. He comes home happy and completely tuckered out after having such a great time w Sumer and her family—highly recommend for your pet-sitting needs!”

“This was our second time leaving our puppy with Theresa. She sent several pictures and he had a wonderful time. He was excited to be back there and he is very well cared for with her. She gives him lots of attention!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Riley home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Riley.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Riley sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
