“Haylea is amazing! She’s very professional and has great communication. She took great care of my cat while I was away and provided great pictures and updates. Highly recommend!”

“Emily visited daily and fed the cats as per instructions. She gave them attention and sent photos. She went above and beyond with the litter boxes and other minor chores. I would book her again.”

“Declan is an extremely friendly and reliable sitter! He's great with our new kittens and has been very gracious working with us on short notice with our relatively erratic schedule. Would recommend to anyone in need of a sitter!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Heather went above and beyond our expectations! We looked forward to her updates nightly and absolutely loved the pictures. We were able to enjoy our vacation more fully knowing our little fur baby was in wonderful hands. We would you request Heather again in a heartbeat!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals for years and truly treat every pet like my own. Friends, family, and neighbors have relied on me to check in, feed, walk, and spend time with their pets while they’re at work or away on vacation. I’m a mom of two who works from home, which allows me to have a flexible and reliable schedule. I’m available for pet care between 8:00am–2:30pm and again from 4:00pm–8:00pm most days. Because I’m home based, I’m able to consistently show up on time, provide dependable care, and give your pets the attention they need during the day while you’re at work or away. I understand how important it is to trust someone in your home and with your pets. I always treat any pet with respect, care, and attention to detail. I follow all instructions closely, keep doors secured, and make sure your pet stays safe and comfortable at all times. I’m very attentive to each pet’s behavior and needs, whether that means giving them space or extra attention. I also provide updates so you can feel confident and at ease while you’re away. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for just like they would with you 🫶🏻

“Maria is amazing, she is very responsive and she always sends Live Photos and videos of our cats. We’ve had her watch them several times now and have always come home to happy and healthy cats.”

“Wonderful! Deanna jumped right in to help us with a last minute vacation, took care of our cat Shenny, and even made a special trip to return our house key. Thank you so much, Deanna!”

“I appreciated Sydneys prompt response to my initial inquiry and questions/messages. She was flexible on short notice to come to meet us and do a drop in the next day. Followed all instructions (in my way too long note), checked in, sent pictures and all was well with my pup on return. Sydney is nice, mature and trustworthy. She is just starting out on Rover so for just figuring all that out — she was great. Sometimes I look for a lot of reviews but glad I gave Sydney a try for sure. Don’t hesitate — I recommend Sydney and I’ll book with her again!”

About: I've owned numerous cats and dogs throughout my entire life, and have been raised with animals since I was an infant. I am looking to help anyone who may need the extra hand. Whether life is a little hectic or just seeking a get away, everyone can always use a little extra help. I am currently working on becoming a Certified Flight Instructor, so when I am not spending time at the airport studying/ training, I am at home studying. I am looking to help out whenever I have the free time to be able to get out, meet people, and take care of any animal needs they might have. I am big on attention for animals, not just having them to "fill space" in a home. I believe in treating them like family, through time spent running around, running errands, sitting on the couch to watch a movie, or even giving them a snack while eating (given something that is acceptable for their digestion, of course)! I try to take my own animals out as much as I can so they can get their energy spent so they aren't stuck inside all day.
About: I’ve had dogs in my household my whole life. I am friendly, reliable, and able to take care of dogs in need of some exercise or some belly rubs. I used to train horses so taking care of dogs is nothin! I am a college student home for the summer and am available most days except Saturdays. I am also pretty flexible so whatever you and your pet need I can help with. Just looking to walk dogs and house sit at your home so I don’t have much equipment, but whatever materials you provide I can work with and take great care of your pet!

About: I have worked professionally in the dog care industry for 3 years as a Doggy Daycare Attendant and Professional Dog Bather. During that time, I have cultivated skills that include puppy and senior canine care, administering topical and oral medications, and assisting physically disabled pets. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I am happy to tailor my care to the specific requirements a pet parent has described. I am available 9 am-6 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, every week for drop-in visits, walks, and playtimes. My schedule will be updated if and when my responsibilities change. I am happy to follow specific instructions in your home and on your property when taking care of your pet. Please let me know if you'd like shoes removed at the door, rooms to remain unaccessed, where you would like pets kept once I leave the premises, and any other important details about your home and pet.

“Christine has been a favorite Rover representative for us. We are a repeat customer of hers and will continue to call upon her care whenever able. Her sincere concern and care of our shar pei, Tricksy, has been of great relief to us. Christine’s communication is consistent and informative. We feel confident in leaving our unique 10-year puppy with her every time and can recommend her (with enthusiasm) to others.”

“We had an outstanding experience with our Rover sitter: Sarah and couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. She was punctual, professional, attentive, and genuinely caring with our dog from start to finish. Her communication was excellent, and it gave us great peace of mind knowing our pet was in such capable hands. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was taken care of, and it was clear she truly enjoys what she does. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and compassionate pet sitter. A well-deserved five-star experience!”

About: I’m different from other sitters because I go above and beyond for the families trusting me with their fur babies! I have 6 years of experience with taking care of homes and animals: I am a college student and part time nanny. I baby sit on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-430 so those two days are unavailable unless you are okay with your pet waiting 8 hours to be let out. I make sure dogs are being let out every 4-8 hours. I will be sure to be changing water bowls and follow the owners feeding schedule. I’m pretty laid back so I love just cuddling with dogs and cats while watching tv or doing homework! I am honored to be trusted by families to take care of their homes and pets

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 932 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Richmond. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richmond. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
