About: Second Chances: How a Rescue Dog Opened My Eyes I never set out to build a pet care business. It began when neighbors asked me to care for their pets during the off season from my work as a private swim instructor. I quickly discovered how much I loved it. Not simply because I enjoyed animals, but because I understood how much trust it takes to leave someone you love in another person’s care. After moving to the Bay Area, I began building a life that feels more intentional. Smaller. Better. More personal. Then came Marley. Marley was a rescue dog whose owner wanted him to experience some of the things he had never known. We asked if we could take him along on a road trip through Yosemite, Big Sur and Carmel by the Sea. When Marley discovered the beach for the first time, you could see it in his face. Curiosity. Excitement. Pure joy. That experience stayed with me. It reminded me that caring for an animal is about more than keeping them fed and safe. It is about noticing who they are, understanding what makes them comfortable and, when appropriate, giving them experiences that bring them joy. I have also always loved photography, and over the years I have found myself photographing the animals in my care. I especially love capturing the unplanned moments that reveal their personalities. During select holiday stays, I enjoy sharing a few of those moments with their families as a personal keepsake. Today, I care for a small number of private clients throughout select communities in Sonoma County and Marin, primarily during holidays and occasional extended stays. My primary professional work remains private in home swim instruction for families. I am selective about the families I work with because quality matters to me.
