I could rave about how absolutely amazing Samantha was with my Khaleesi for hours, but I’ll keep it short for reading purposes. My dog Khaleesi is a high anxiety dog and does not do well with strangers and typically hides from them. Samantha had her during the day for 3 days, and from day 1 Khaleesi took right to her. It did take some warming up time, but Samantha kept me very updated and sent pictures throughout the day. By the end of the 3 days, Khaleesi was walking into Samantha’s house without hesitation and didn’t even turn around to look at me. Samantha is incredible and I highly recommend her!!!!

Ive used Brandys daycare services for Loki 2 days a week for about 5 weeks now. She is very attentive, loves dogs, and caring towards him. He gets so excited to see her and looks so comfortable around her family. She gives physical daily report cards with the potty schedule, behavior, feedings, comments and recommendations. She sends photos throughout the day. Her family enjoys having him around and I love seeing him play with her children. I had a family emergency one weekend and she had no problem keeping him for me until I got back in town. That was super huge because she does have a family, it was last minute, and a big ask. Definitely would recommend her services.

About: I have one small 3 legged rescue and just adopted another rescue September 2025 who is recovering from being hit by a car. Both are chihuahua s Prior to moving to Virginia I fostered both cats and dogs. I was known as a foster failure since I adopted many of my fosters and at one time I had 8 dogs. I love all animal but have a special place in my heart for dogs. I am retired and have lots of time on my hands and would love to spend some time with your dog when you are not able to. I will treat them as if they were mine9. I have two small dog that does fine with other dogs. My yard is fenced and secure. I believe dogs belong in the house since they are part of the family.

David is truly amazing! We needed a sitter for our pup at the last minute so I went on Rover and was impressed with David’s profile and reviews. I contacted him and he responded right away. We needed a 5am drop off and he was totally accommodating. Oz spent the day playing with David’s pups and was so happy when we picked him up. David communicated with me during the day to put me at ease and I appreciated that. You know how dog mama’s are lol. We had a great experience and will definitely rebook with him many times in the future.

About: I’ve owned Great Danes, German Shepard, and Golden Doodles, and I’ll take care of yours as if they were mine. Me and my wife are home at almost all times. I am currently working over night Saturday and Sunday but my wife will be home to watch your pups. Other than that I am home full time. I have a fenced yard with a Great Dane who loves both large and small dogs. Between me and my wife there is little time when your puppy will be left alone

About: My home can offer you the level of care and attention you want for your pet. I’ve always believed dogs shouldn’t just be “checked on”—they deserve attention, interaction, and a sense of comfort while their owners are away. Your pet will be loved on as if he/she were my own. I’ve had dogs my whole life and have raised several from puppies through their senior years, including a rescue, so I’m comfortable with a wide range of needs and personalities. My home is very pet-friendly, with a large backyard for play and space to relax. I also have a 5-year-old lab and a young child, so safety is a top priority. I only accept dogs that are gentle and a good fit for a family environment. My goal is simple: to give your pet a safe, calm, and genuinely cared-for place that feels as close to home as possible. I am currently working part-time, so I am home frequently. Your pet won't be left alone for long periods of time. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm available 24/7 unless I am going out of town. I usually work Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5pm-10pm. I prefer to do a meet and greet before boarding. I cant always accommodate last minute bookings, but don't hesitate to reach out. I have a large fenced in yard, one very playful 5 year old lab, and a friendly toddler. My dog has free rein of the house and yard. When I am home, I leave the back door open so she can come and go as she pleases. When I leave, I can separate the dogs and crate as needed.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 684 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Rescue. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Rescue commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 684 sitters in Rescue, 88% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
