“Evelyn is awesome. She has a great demeanor and is super kind and patient. Scout warmed up to her and really enjoyed her company. Highly recommend Evelyn!!”

“Kristin has sat for our pups several times. She has always been dependable and trustworthy. Always willing to be flexible as her schedule allows. So happy to have her care for our pup when we're out of town.”

“Ashley was great! She jumped right in with our puppy - playing, snuggling, and keeping the pup on a potty training schedule. Ashley’s communication was wonderful, and she sent lots of pictures and videos during her visit. We will definitely be reaching out to her again!”

About: I worked as a Lincoln Children's Zoo volunteer for five years, from age 11 to about age 15-16! Cared for and handled all sorts of animals! Have also been a a go-to pet sitter for my neighbors for at least seven years, and am still happy to continue! I usually work closing shifts for my job on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but all weekdays I am available to check on your fur babies! Most of the time, I am scheduled to work at about 4 P.M, so any time during the day, I would love to come over! Love to play with pets, especially doggies! Will play outside/run around with them, send you photos to update you, even snuggle up on the couch with them if they're feeling tired!
“Came home to a happy pup who had full bowl of food and water and all is well! Short notice and last minute request as I forgot to book until a few days before my trip and Mya came through!”

“Alaina was so responsible with our pups and house! Very good with communication and Shari g pics of the pups while we were away! She went above and beyond! So appreciated everything!!”

About: I've taken care of dogs and cats for family friends for years. My girlfriend and I love meeting new fur babies and getting to play with them! I work 1:30 to 5:30 every week day at the bank! Olivia works 2 to 8 usually but other than that we like to watch tv and go on walks so we will be at the house often!! I send photos of pets and make sure the owner is at ease for the whole time we are there! I am very responsive to texts if there are any issues/updates. I am comfortable with kenneling dogs at night or having them sleep on the bed!
“Nathan took extra care with our very senior pup (14+, fragile condition) and they got along well during his overnight stay at our home. He’s very conscientious, read our instructions in advance and asked good questions to learn more or get clarity. We came home to a calm pup and tidy home. We hope we have Coco long enough to have Nathan sit with her again!”

“Audrey is very friendly and an excellent communicator. She confirmed all appointments we set prior to the pet sitting dates and sent daily messages when we were away. She also sent pictures knowing we enjoy seeing the pups even when we’re gone. Audrey left the house very clean including running laundry and the dishwasher upon her departure. I hope to use Audrey’s services many times again in the future!”

About: Hi! I'm Adam! I am a professional dog trainer with over 5 years of experience caring for dogs of all ages, breeds, and personalities. After being the General Manager of a dog training facility, I developed a passion for helping dogs feel safe, confident, and loved. Whether it's a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay, I'll provide dependable care, plenty of exercise, and lots of updates so you can relax knowing your pup is in great hands! I have a flexible work schedule, which allows me to provide dependable care throughout the day and accommodate a variety of pet care needs. Whether it's early morning walks, drop-in visits, or evening check-ins, I'm able to adjust my schedule to meet your pet's routine. I believe consistency is important, so I do my best to keep pets on their normal schedule to help them feel comfortable and secure while you're away. I believe every pet is unique, so I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and preferences before providing care. In a client's home, I aim to keep your pet's routine as normal as possible by following feeding schedules, providing fresh water, going on walks or playtime, cleaning up after them, and giving them plenty of attention and affection. I'll also send regular photo and text updates so you can have peace of mind while you're away. If I'm caring for a pet in my own home, I provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment where they can relax and feel at home. I'll make sure they receive plenty of exercise, enrichment, potty breaks, and one-on-one attention while maintaining any routines or instructions you've provided. My goal is for every pet to feel happy, secure, and well cared for from the moment they arrive until it's time to go home.
About: I have had dogs since I was very young. We had lab mixes while I was growing up who I fed, walked, and trained. I have my own GSD now that I have trained. I also share a shiba inu with my family. I am currently just modeling so my availability is pretty open. I typically have every weekend free and atleast 5 hours of every week day free. I am sure to walk all dogs I care for as long as it is safe for them to be walked. I will not walk a dog on hot cement for their sake. I feed my own dog 2x a day but can change that schedule for any dog I care for.
About: I’ve dealt with almost any kind of cat or dog from sick kittens that needed fostering, to old dogs in need of medication. I love all pets! I am available any day or time of the week! I am a full time college student but I am only required on campus for tests, so you need something I’m there! Any special needs I am okay taking care of! Playtime and stimulation is important to me and for any pets’ wellbeing. I welcome all ages and sizes of pets.
“Marikita was great! I felt very comfortable leaving my Golden Retriever with her while I was gone for the weekend. I got a lot of updates and my dog seemed to really enjoy spending time with her!”

About: I've been a life-long dog owner, from puppies/potty training to senior dog care, including giving medication. Some animals I've also had the privilege to care for are cats, mice, reptiles, chickens, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. I'm always looking for more amazing creatures to add to the list. I don't see your pets as just animals, but also as in integral part of your family and life. My schedule is very flexible right now. If when you need someone to walk your pups, sit with your cat, feed your other pets while you're out of town or would prefer me to stay in your home, I can be your go-to person. I'm a firm believer that while a family is out of town, the pets usually do best in their own environment that they know, making it easier to relax while you're away. When it comes to taking care of your pets, I know routine can be very important. It's stressful for them to have a shift in care and so my goal is to make it as smooth a transition as possible for them. If they're used to being in a crate while no one is at home, then they will be crated. If you prefer they have freedom to roam part or all of the home while away I will do that as well. Feeding and walking schedules will be adhered to if you so desire. I want to make this the best experience for them and you.

FAQs for House Sitting - Prairie Home
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 344 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Prairie Home. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Prairie Home walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Prairie Home maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Prairie Home choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Prairie Home. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
