“Brittany went above and beyond to take care of my new puppy! I’m certain that my dog was well taken care the entire time I was gone. She was well fed and got lots and lots of playtime! The other unexpected thing was that Brittany sent me updated pictures of how she was doing while I was gone. Really kept me in the loop and made me feel comfortable leaving her there. Thank you so much, Brittany. I really really appreciate you. We will be back!❤️”
“Mary and her family were excellent with our pup. I’m sure she can’t wait to go over there again and I would definitely recommend her for anyone who needs their pups to be taken care of while out of town.”

About: Welcome! My name is Kirsten and I am a resident of Portland Tx! I’m originally from Austin where I began my animal care journey. I owned my own animal care service business in Austin for about 4 years taking care of dogs and cats from north all the way down to south Austin. I’ve loved every minute of meeting all kinds of personalities from all pets and giving them the love and attention they need. I’m happy to do a meet and greet with your fur baby. Look forward to meeting you! Pet care is a consistent part of my daily and weekly routine. I currently work full-time as a dental assistant, and I am preparing to transition into dental hygiene school soon. Because I already manage a structured schedule, I’m very organized with my time and make pet care a priority. My routine allows me to provide regular walks, feeding, playtime, medication (if needed), and plenty of attention. I love to take pups on walks In the neighborhood, play with their favorite toys and give them lots of rubs! If there are activities you prefer I would more than happy to add them to our daily activities. :)
“Tetiana was great! Vera loved meeting with her, her husband, and Wanda (and her dog brought out the puppy play in my 9-year old dog). We can tell she had a great time staying with them, was well cared for, and very responsive with pictures and communication. We hope to book another stay again soon!”

“Highly recommend Lauryn! She cared for our 9 month old pup while we were away for a long weekend and really gave us peace of mind. She offered a welcoming, clean home and Frankie loved her dogs. Frankie came home clean and relaxed! We also received lots of pictures and great communication throughout Frankie’s stay. Hope to book with Lauryn in the future!!”

“I was so apprehensive about going on vacation because it broke my heart thinking about leaving my dog (River) behind. River absolutely loves being around other dogs so I chose Khea S as my sitter and am so glad I did. Khea sent pictures often of River enjoying himself playing with her dogs. I know Khea treated River as if he were her own because he cried on the way home as if he wanted to back. River had so much fun with her we are going to start daycare a couple times a week so River can see his new friends!!! Thank you Khea!!!!”

“Bobbye was the best sitter we could have asked for! She was so kind and loving towards my Bella. She constantly updated us with pictures of her. I would definitely use bobbye again.”

“Ashley was great, including accommodating our desire for a meet and greet even though I had already booked a stay with her! Her experience in animal care aa a vet tech was very reassuring, especially that she was familiar with several of the meds our dog Niiki was on. And when I told her it was Stella's birthday during the middle of our trip, she gave Stella a birthday party complete with birthday cookie! Ashley accommodated our pickup time, even in the middle of her own family emergency. Ashley goes above and beyond. I have no reservations in recommending her.”

“Excellent! I highly recommend. She genuinely cares for the dogs she watches. Even my dog knows, I have a dog with anxiety and he took to her right from the start. I will use her again.”

“Monica took care of Ripley for a week. She was very responsive and sent plenty of photos! She took Ripley to the beach and the park and gave her lots of love. We would definitely use Monica again!”

“Super sitters! Our princess had a great time with your family and we had lots of photos to show for it. Thank you Kyoko for taking such great care of her.”

About: Hello all! I’m Ebony and I would love to take care of your pet. I have taken care of my pets and others’ pets for over 30 years. I am adaptable and very reliable. I can handle an older pet or a young one. I have a very open schedule and with proper notice I can be available but I am also available for unexpected/last minute visits. I normally go on long walks and runs so I welcome active dogs. I am all about making your pet feel comfortable and safe when I am with them. I have a pet so I understand these furry ones are like our children and I will treat them with care

“Ingrid was great. She happened to be in our area so offered to pick up our dog since she was near by. Bailey slept with her in the bed too. Right where he’s used to sleeping.”

“Carolyn really looked after our "baby" while we were unexpectedly out if town. She is a picky eater (the dog, that is) and Carolyn went out of her way to encourage her to eat, as well as giving us and update and photo every day. We will be very happy to be repeated customers for Carolyn in the future.”

“Bonnie is wonderful!! She cared for our dog Denver like her own, giving him all of the cuddles and walks that he loves! She was very easy to communicate with and was flexible with my pick up time when my flight was delayed. HIGHLY recommend!”
“I'm so thankful for Janis! She looked over my Australian Shepherd pup Skye, as soon as we did our meet and greet there was an instant connection. If I could give Janis 10 stars ? I would. She took care of my Skye as one of her own. I appreciated the daily pictures and video updates, that reassured me that my baby was in good hands. Her 3 furbabies are adorable and got along great with Skye. Her babies were very welcoming and made Skye feel right at home. Both my fiancé and we left very impressed with her professionalism, kindness, and her love for animals. Janis is trust worthy and I highly recommend her. I will most definitely leave Skye with her again in the future. ?”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
DeAnn was amazing. We were visiting the gulf and planned an outing Roo couldn't attend, so last minute, found DeAnn and she accepted. Roo got to hang out with DeAnn and her neighbor Fran. He was well loved on. Both ladies are super friendly and sweet. Thank you both!

This was the first time leaving our pup with anyone. Deann made us feel very comfortable. It was a very clean environment and Deann sent us pictures and updates about how our pup was doing. We were very happy with the care our pup received and will definitely be using Deann again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TX ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
