“Laura always takes great care of our 2 dogs and 2 cats. She has great communication and we are never worried when she is around. I really appreciate her staying at the house, I think the fur babies are so much more comfortable in their own home. Thank you Laura!”

“Jeffrey is a wonderful pet sitter and we use him whenever he is available. It's great to go on vacation and not worry one bit about whether our kiddos are being taken care of. He is a great communicator and sends pics regularly. Our home is spotless when we get home and our pets are relaxed and happy. Thank you Jeffrey for another great pet sit.”

“Leia is definitely a cat with a big personality. She usually doesn't let strangers get close to her, so I was honestly amazed that Alina managed to earn her trust. She was incredibly patient, never pushed Leia, and let her come around at her own pace. To my surprise, Leia even allowed Alina to pet her, which almost never happens. It's clear that Alina truly understands cats and knows how to make them feel safe. I couldn't have asked for better care for my little princess. Thank you so much! I would happily book with Alina again 🩷”

“Alisa (and Alex!) were so wonderful with our 2 dogs. It took a while for one of them to warm up to her but she was so patient with him and eventually won him over. She was so attentive with them and sent plenty of pics and videos. I know they received the best care they could have in someone else’s hands. She definitely provided peace of mind for us while we weren’t home. We would love to have her back to watch our dogs!!”

“Catherine took great care me of our dog and communicated well and sent pictures during her five night stay. The house was in good shape and everything in order. I would definitely use her again.”

“Mylynn is great! She took such good care of our high maintenance pups. Very good communication and the dogs loved her. Would not hesitate to use her services again”

“Alison was absolutely amazing and we cannot recommend her enough! Not only did our animals love her, but she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable leaving them. We are so happy to have found such an amazing sitter that we will be using for all our future needs!!”

“Carson is top tier and easily in our top 3 sitter choices! Toby and Theo immediately took to her and we immediately felt comfortable knowing they were comfortable. She stayed with our dogs in our home and took great care of our pups and of our home. Everything was clean and spotless when we arrived back home. She sent daily pics and communicated with us while we were gone. Carson is a no brainer when choosing a sitter and you and your pets will be lucky to have her!”

About: I have taken care of pets since I was little, family and friends always relied on my family. Our pets are very special to us and we can't wait to meet new fur-friends. I have also worked for a professional pet-sitting service in the past. My family works from home so we are able to give them the attention they need. More time for cuddles, walks and play time of course. Our dog hangs out in the office with us while we work and yours will be welcome as well. I have a fenced in yard and pets are always welcome in our home. We can also crate our Jack boy while the pups are getting used to each other. Pets are allowed on certain furniture in the home. I work from home most days so I am able to provide your pet with plenty of bathroom breaks, exercise and attention throughout each day. We just built a home and do not yet have a fence, but we have access to a dog park nearby for safe play throughout the stay.

About: I've had animals most of my life from puppies to pound mutts and full blooded and senior dogs. I make sure to encourage play and positive training. I currently work from home so I spend lots of time with family pets, old roommate animals and friends pets. Lately it's been waking up to 3 small dogs my parents have. I make sure to follow any rules stated by the original owner. It can range from crate training, socialization, cleaning, walking or using the client's home.
About: I worked at WICKERSHAMS K-9 Ranch for almost three years. Would love to take care of your furry children! Giving them lots of love and attention! I have currently have 5 cats and two dogs, and I have had animals my whole life. Rescued horses and dogs with my dad growing up. I have experience in a dog kennel, giving proper food and medication to 60+ dogs ensuring they are taken care of properly and in a safely manner.
About: Growing up I've always had a love for all types of pets, I've had a few family pets that I would take care of as well! What sets me apart from other sitters is that I strive to create a bond with your pets! Usually, I would like to set up an appointment ahead of time to meet your loved ones and we can create a bond, I would like to take this time to see if they're comfortable with me based on body language & behaviors! I have experience working with all kinds of pets, and I've worked at boarding facilities. I have experience working with reactive animals and I currently have a reactive dog!! Any extra knowledge I have is because I have a great sister who is a veterinary technician! I currently work 2 jobs, both of which are Thursday-Sunday. At one of my jobs I work overnight, so there is a possibility I will have to leave to work in the middle of the night and will be back by morning. Along with my 2 jobs, I am also a college student, with that being said I have to attend in-person classes during the week. I am able to care for your loved ones before, between, and after work, and make it a priority to give your animals quality care & all the love I can. If you have any questions about my schedule please feel free to reach out! I keep a close watch on my own pets as well as the pets I look after. I would prefer a list/note of what type of pet care you expect, for instance writing a note with your animal's daily schedule and when/what to feed them! If your babies have any allergies or if there's anything specific you'd like me to know about your pet please also disclose that information. At the end of each stay/visit, I make it a point to include a brief summary of how your pet(s) behave, just to bring you up to speed! I like to send lots of photos and videos of your pet, so keep your phone close to receive ALL the love from back home <3
“Cameron did a fantastic job taking care of both my home and my tiny fury overlords! He took the time to get to know them, and I swear I think they were disappointed when I came back and Cameron left. 🤷🏼♂️ Will 100% be hiring him again for my upcoming trips.”
“Makayla is such a kind person and really helped me out big time when my husband and I had to go on a last minute trip. She followed our instructions word for word and sent lots of pictures. Sophie and Jax loved playing and relaxing with her while we were gone. We will definitely be using her in the future.”

About: My experience comes from owning my own pets (goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters) and petsitting (yes, even even horses, pigs, snakes and bugs). In previous years, I fostered for countless animal rescue groups and shelters, whether it was just volunteering or fostering puppies or senior dogs in need. I currently own a pitbull/lab rescue, Cali, who I trust with few people. I completely understand the anxiety when it comes to trusting someone new to watch over your pup. This is why I prioritize communication, forming relationships with both pets and parents, sending frequent updates and paying close attention to details/routines provided to me. After each visit, you can always expect to find water bowls to be clean and full, leashes hung up and everything just as you left it except this time with a happy and tired pup! Please reach out with as many questions as you'd like, I look forward to hearing from you! I have a dog of my own, so pet care is already built into my routine and something I look forward to everyday. I'm also available for last minute needs and do my best to be as flexible as possible as I understand plans can change :) How I care for your pet depends entirely on the instructions you give me, I strive to follow your directions as closely as possible to ensure you, your pet and myself all have a great experience that is as similar as can be to your routine with them. With that being said, each pet I care for is treated as my own and will have my full attention when I am with them.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 591 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Polkton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Polkton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Polkton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Polkton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Polkton. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
