Sophia was a great pet sitter. She checked in with me regularly and was very prompt. It was much easier to enjoy my recent trip knowing that Sophia was there with my dog, Kota. Kota is an older dog, and Sophia managed her medications and small walks for us. I would, of course, book her again.

About: As a specialized pet care provider, I offer patient, fear-free sitting designed specifically for rescue animals, seniors, and pets with behavioral or physical disabilities. I focus on maintaining strict medical routines and building trust at your animal's individual pace, giving you total peace of mind that your high-needs companion is safe and understood. Because I balance pet care with my weekday studies and commitments, my schedule is perfectly tailored for dedicated evening check ins, weekend care, and overnight housesitting. While you are away for the weekend or out for the evening, your cat will have my full, undivided attention right when they need it most like dinner time, evening play, and nighttime cuddles For pets with rescue backgrounds, trauma histories, physical disabilities, or behavioral quirks, their home is their sanctuary. Change can be overwhelming, which is why I specialize in providing dedicated, in-home care designed to preserve your pet’s sense of safety, routine, and comfort while you are away. Rather than forcing a connection, I practice a patient, trust-first approach. I meet your animal exactly where they are whether that means sitting quietly across the room to let a shy rescue set the pace, or meticulously maintaining a senior pet's environmental and medical routine. I am deeply attuned to animal body language and decompression timelines, ensuring your pet's boundaries are always respected and their stress levels remain low.

She was a great communicator and left our house and our guest room neat and clean. We felt very comfortable having her stay at our home and taking care of our dog. We will definitely be using her services again.

Rebeca did an amazing job house sitting and caring for our reactive dog, Ginger. From the moment we met her, it was clear that she was patient, attentive, and genuinely cared about Ginger's well-being. Caring for a reactive dog requires extra understanding and compassion, and Rebeca handled everything beautifully. She kept us updated throughout our trip with pictures and the sweetest stories about Ginger's day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. When we returned home, Ginger was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Our house was also in great shape. We are incredibly grateful for the love and attention Rebeca gave to Ginger and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and responsible pet sitter. We will absolutely book with her again!

About: About Me 🤍 Hi! I’m Alicia :) I’ve always been a huge animal lover and grew up around both dogs and cats. I have a Pomeranian of my own, and I’ve lived with and cared for all different kinds of dogs and cats over the years. I also have experience pet sitting, and I genuinely love getting to know each pet and their own little personality. I know every pet is different. Some dogs want to play and go on walks all day, while others just want to cuddle and hang out. The same goes for cats, some will be your best friend right away and others need a little time before they trust you. I’m very patient and always let them get comfortable with me at their own pace. I really just want them to feel safe and happy while their family is away. 🐾 I also understand that you’re trusting me with your home, not just your pet, and I take that seriously. Before getting into real estate, I worked in banking, so being responsible, trustworthy, professional, and respectful of people’s privacy has always been really important to me. I’ll treat your home with the same care and respect I would want someone to have in mine. A little about me outside of pet sitting: I’ve lived in Japan, Hawaii, Sacramento, and the Bay Area, and now I’ve settled in Monterey with my family. I love being outside, going to the beach, and taking walks around the coast, so having a pup come along with me makes it even better! At the end of the day, I really just love animals. Your pet isn’t going to feel like another “booking” to me. I want to get to know them, learn their little quirks and routine, and make sure they’re getting lots of love and attention while you’re gone. I want you to be able to enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy, cared for, and in good hands. 🤍 I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets I care for. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, pet sitting, and overnight care throughout the week and weekends. I enjoy spending quality time with animals and making sure they stay on their normal routine, feel comfortable, and receive lots of love and attention while their owners are away. Creating a safe, calm, and loving environment for pets is very important to me. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully to make sure pets stay comfortable and on their normal routine. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality, needs, and behavior to ensure they feel secure and cared for. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I provide a clean, attentive, and trustworthy environment where pets are treated like family and receive plenty of affection, supervision, and patience. I also love keeping pet owners updated with photo and video updates throughout the day so you can feel reassured and connected while you’re away. I know how important peace of mind is when leaving your pet with someone, so communication is always a priority for me, and I’m happy to answer questions or accommodate any specific care instructions.

About: Caring for animals has always been a part of my life. Growing up with a stepmom who is a veterinary technician, I gained early exposure to caring for animals with a wide range of needs, from healthy pets to those requiring medications, special diets, and extra attention due to medical conditions. I was raised in a home with at least four dogs and seven cats, so I am very comfortable caring for multiple pets with different personalities, routines, and energy levels. My experience has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to recognize when an animal may need additional care or support. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I strive to provide the same love, attention, and care that I would want for my own animals. Whether your pet is energetic and playful, senior and needing a slower pace, or requires a little extra care, I am committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you are away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I have a flexible and responsible schedule. I am able to prioritize morning, afternoon, and evening care depending on the needs of each pet. I am consistent with feeding times, walks, playtime, and check-ins, and I make sure pets receive attention throughout the day rather than just quick visits. I also plan my week around any bookings I accept so that I can fully commit my time and energy to each pet in my care. I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet in my care. In a client’s home, I follow all instructions closely, maintain the pet’s normal routine, and ensure doors, gates, and feeding areas are secure at all times. I treat each home with respect and care, as if it were my own. With my background growing up around animals and veterinary care, I am comfortable recognizing signs of stress or health concerns and responding appropriately. I make sure pets are never left in unsafe situations, and I always provide attentive supervision, affection, and structure so they feel secure while their owners are away.

I think Melanie is an animal whisperer. We have a thirteen year old cat that over the years our neighbors would care for her and another that has since transitioned. Our one neighbor could never really see her and neither of our neighbors could ever really pet her. Melanie could. She did this within a day or two. We currently have our thirteen year old Queen and two, year old kittens. They were so well loved and cared for we couldn't ask for more. The kittens followed her around and the photo's she sent are priceless. Played laser tag with them and doted on them. Not only is she an animal whisperer but a great animal photographer. When we got home their feeding area was well kept the kitchen counter was nicely cleaned, the litter box was topped off and clean and the floor was vacuumed and free of fur. Aside from all that it was obvious that the felines were happy. Peace of mind was also included.

FAQs for House Sitting - Penvir

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 447 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Penvir. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Penvir walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Penvir maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Penvir choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Penvir. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
