About: Experienced caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Skilled in handling energetic puppies, including leash training, socialization, and establishing positive routines. Compassionate care for senior dogs, with attention to mobility limitations, arthritis, vision or hearing loss, and age-related health needs. Experienced administering oral medications and following prescribed medication schedules accurately. Knowledgeable in post-operative recovery care, including activity restrictions, monitored walks, incision observation, and rehabilitation support as directed by veterinarians. Comfortable with dogs that require special handling, mobility assistance, or adaptive equipment. Experienced providing feeding, fresh water, exercise, enrichment, and companionship during visits. Able to recognize changes in behavior or health and communicate concerns promptly to owners. Committed to safe leash handling, positive reinforcement techniques, and maintaining a calm, low-stress environment. Dependable, trustworthy, and focused on treating every pet as if they were my own. I offer flexible daytime and evening availability to walk, visit, and spend quality one-on-one time with your pup. Whether your dog needs a midday potty break, exercise, companionship while you're at work, or an evening check-in, I provide dependable, personalized care tailored to their needs. My goal is to ensure your pet stays happy, comfortable, active, and well cared for until you're home. Your dog's safety and well-being are my highest priorities. I use secure leash and harness practices and follow your pet's normal routine to minimize stress. I carefully monitor dogs for signs of illness, injury, overheating, fatigue, or discomfort during walks and visits. I clean up after every walk and help keep your home tidy by wiping muddy paws, cleaning food and water bowls as needed, and promptly cleaning up any accidents. Fresh water is always provided, and feeding instructions are followed exactly as requested. I sanitize hands and equipment between visits when appropriate to help reduce the spread of germs between households. I keep gates, doors, and fences securely closed and locked, and I never leave a pet unattended in unsafe situations. I communicate with pet owners after each visit, providing updates on walks, meals, medications, bathroom breaks, and any concerns that arise.

About: I’ve had a dog my whole life, in which I fed, walked, and looked after him. He passed last year and I’m not ready to get another one right now but would love to have dogs around. I absolutely love dogs and have taken care of friends and family dogs. I’m working part-time, 4 to 5 days a week. My schedule comes out 2 weeks in advance so I should have plenty of time to figure out when to look after or walk your pup! I will always keep an eye on your dog and follow all the guidelines you have, whether that’s letting them free in a fenced yard or keeping them on a leash outside.

Evelyn took great care of our senior cat during our Christmas vacation. She spent real quality time with her, and we came home to a happy, playful cat. We especially appreciate her dedication during a white Christmas, driving in snowy conditions every day. Highly recommend her drop-in service!

About: I have spent many overnights at homes while providing pet care. The durations of these stays have been up to a week. I do very well with following clear directions for feeding, medications, as well as other pet care needs. This includes affection and playing— I absolutely love dogs and cats! I am a teacher, which of course is a very busy job. However, I do not work over the summer, which means I have lots of flexibility in these months. I am also available during most weekends! I care for pets in my clients’ homes by following instructions regarding feeding, medications, going outside, as well as anything else that may be necessary! When owners are gone, I recognize it is best for the pets to keep their routines as consistent as possible! I respect any rules clients may have for their pets (e.g. where around they house they are allowed, any dietary limitations, and any necessary precautions to take so that the pets stay safe!)

About: I’ve been caring for pets of all energy levels and ages for over 10 years, ranging from energetic puppies to anxious seniors. I’ve had my own dogs for 15 years, and I love spending time with all pets whenever I get the chance! I’m also happy to care for cats and/or exotic pets. If you're looking for an attentive, reliable, and gentle pet sitter, I'm your person! I'm currently residing in the Upper Valley, and I work daily as a high school teacher. I can provide check-ins and walks during the afternoon. I’m not able to keep animals in my own home, but I am more than happy to stay in your home overnight to keep your pets comfortable.

About: I have had dogs in my life since I can remember, from family dogs to dog sitting for friends in high school, to now owning my own two little creatures. I am knowledgeable and comfortable with high-anxiety dogs and leash-reactive dogs (one of mine is both of these and more!) and am comfortable and confident with all sizes, breeds, and ages. There's nothing better than plugging into a good podcast and taking a nice, long walk with a furry friend. I have experience with all types of dogs, especially bully breed dogs (pit bulls, boxers, etc) and everything from high anxiety dogs to puppies to elder care dogs. I can administer oral medication, and have given humans shots before so with some owner coaching, would definitely be comfortable administering injected medication if needed. I'm currently working part time, so I have lots of time to take your pup on a walk during the day or hang with them while you’re out of town. I live in Burlington, VT, but I'm willing to travel. I am happy to come to your home where your dog is already comfortable and familiar. Having two dogs who have utilized Rover for this reason, I believe it is the best option for some high-anxiety dogs not to be put into an unfamiliar situation when their parents are gone. I am also available for drop in visits and/or neighborhood walks during the weekday! There’s nothing better than plugging in a podcast and taking a long walk with a pup!

Samantha is the best!! I was in a tight spot on finding a sitter and reached out to her and she got back right away and saved me. Mav had the best time with her, he’s always doing his little wiggle dance when she walks through the door. I recommend her 100%, you won’t regret it.

About: If my rates are an obstacle in caring for your pet then I’m happy to provide a sliding scale and have a discussion upon request. Professionally, I was vet assistant at an animal clinic before returning to farm animal work. At the clinic I learned the basics of animal health care and I learned how to properly handle dogs and cats. Throughout the last twelve years I’ve farm-sat and pet-sat for numerous friends and family members! In the last year I worked at a doggy daycare and worked groups of 11-12 large dogs. I also worked in group of 15+ small dogs and "solos" (highly dog aggressive dogs). Working in that environment took me to the next level of understanding cues and dog behavior. I learned to advocate for dogs, look for health and safety warning signs and how to manage group dynamics. I am currently a *human* nurse and making time for animals because that is where I feel I really come alive. :) I believe that animals are part of the family and I will treat them like so. I have basic experience with dog training and I personally believe that dogs thrive in structured and predictable environments. I love exercising and having fun with dogs, too! I have availability to help you with your pup or cat! Depending on the health of your pet I will socialize and exercise your pet's body and mind and of course offer any snuggles that are welcomed. I love exercising animals as much as it is tolerated by them. I currently work per diem as a staff nurse in Lebanon NH which gives me a lot of flexibility to care for pets. I am happy to abide by your house rules and expectations for your pet(s). I enjoy walks to dog parks, trails, playing in fenced yards and practicing obedience and tricks!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
