“Pixie came home happy and healthy! Lauren and Ben took wonderful care of her for six days. They sent us regular photos and updates, which really put our minds at ease while we were away. When our flight got canceled, they were incredibly accommodating. They helped us extend the booking and happily let Pixie stay with them for an extra day, which we truly appreciated. We're so grateful for their kindness and excellent care. We'll definitely book with them again in the future!”

“Five star +++ experience. I almost hate to leave a review because we want them all to ourselves! Lori & Frank treated my dogs like their own — they showered them with love and attention and took exceptional care of them. They sent adorable pictures and kept me updated (without being annoying about it) while I was out of the country for 9 days. They have a lovely cozy dog-friendly home, and a very nice fully fenced yard. They are both super kind dog lovers and also responsible adults so you can feel comfortable leaving your beloved pooch or pooches in their care. Just the best.”

“Lillie and her family were so kind and welcoming to my pup. She sent lots of pics while we were away and was very communicative around how he was doing. She seemed genuinely affectionate with him too so I know he was not short on receiving love. Super thankful for her care ❤️”

About: I've owned my own dog walking and boarding business for 8 years, have worked with dogs full time for 10 and have chosen to work and volunteer alongside animals from the moment I had the opportunity as a young teen. It is important to me that the dogs in my care are fulfilled. All dogs are taken on daily walks and provided with off leash social time in my yard. I am behavior savvy, cultivate structure through routine and boundary setting, and love to let dogs' personalities shine. My partner and I have a 6 month old mini Aussie, Otis, and he loves to host as well. I require that dogs are friendly with other dogs, crate trained and have leash manners. My "full-time" work is to provide for the dogs in my care- whether they are boarding, daycare dogs, or walking clients. This includes daily (and sometimes twice daily) group walks and off leash social time with my personal dog and whomever else is on the schedule. Sometimes we hike, explore a separate large fenced property or visit the beach-it all depends on how many dogs I have and what their temperaments are. I take relationship building with my clients (both human and dog) very seriously. It takes time to build comfort and trust. I prefer to have a short client list, an intimate group of dogs, and a relaxed and familiar flow throughout our day to day. I love to have extended stay boarding dogs, and have several clients who travel multiple months out of the year. I do not take one-time weekend boarding dogs. It is a lot of work up front to get new clients familiarized with our routine, comfortable & relaxed in the environment, and introduced to all of the regulars. A final note: I love shy/awkward dogs, senior dogs, and working with (most) young puppies. I struggle with highly anxious & hyperactive dogs and they are not the best fit for my environment and personality.
“My dog Beau had a great time staying with Jill. She is very warm and loving and took great care of my beloved fur baby. I loved receiving photos during his stay and they have a super safe setup. I could tell Beau was super happy being there which means a lot when you’re away. Would definitely book again!”

“We had a death in the family while we were on vacation in the Central Coast. We needed to find a dog sitter for our dog when we travelled north to the Bay Area for the memorial service. With extremely short notice--and without ever meeting us or our dog-- Robert and Sheila agreed to watch our Zoey while we attended the funeral. Robert was so kind and compassionate. They have a lovely home, a safe and warm environment for any dog. Above all else, they are caring, generous caregivers and deserve the highest praise. They extended themselves to accommodate our unexpected need for a sitter and we really appreciated their kindness.”

“Tammy and her family provided the perfect home away from home for my anxious dog! My vacation was considerably more relaxing than usual due to Tammy's expert care and frequent status reports and pictures. I'm so grateful I found Tammy!!! :)”

“This has been our dog's second stay with Amber and Michael, and they have been fantastic! Amber keeps us informed with updates and pictures so that we can feel relaxed and confident that our dog is being well cared for. I would highly recommend them!”

“Second time I booked with Lindsey and couldn't of had a better experience for not only my pup, but also myself. Lindsey was attentive, patient, and communicative throughout the 4 day boarding I booked with her. It gives me such peace of mind knowing that my dog will be well cared for and pampered when I am away! Thank you!”

“Tucker always love to go to the farm and hang out with his retriever buddies. Jake and Shayla are great, attentive and professional. He gets so much love there, I feel good about leaving him when I’m away.”

About: Dogs have always been a passion of mine, and caring for them is something I truly love! I have hands-on experience in pet sitting, small-dog boarding, dog training, pack walking, and working at a professional boarding and daycare facility. My experience has taught me how to work with different breeds, personalities, and energy levels while prioritizing safety, enrichment, and positive experiences. Whether your pup loves long walks, playtime, learning new skills, or just relaxing with some extra affection, I’m happy to meet them where they are! I know how important it is to trust someone with your furry family member, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’ll work with you to find a schedule that fits your pet’s needs and routine! Whether your pup stays in my home or I care for them in yours, my goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved! In my home: I have a small yard for potty breaks and live next to beautiful walking trails for daily walks and enrichment. I only board one dog at a time, so your pup gets plenty of individualized attention. I have a friendly corgi and a cat, so visiting dogs must be comfortable living with both. I’m only away for occasional four-hour shifts at a nearby spa, and my partner works from home, so your pup will have company throughout the day. Crates are available if preferred, but your dog is also welcome to sleep with me! In your home: I follow your pet’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, care instructions, and house rules. I provide daily walks, companionship, and plenty of affection. I work occasional four-hour shifts Tuesday through Saturday, but otherwise can spend my time at your home caring for your pets. For overnight stays, I just ask for access to a bed and kitchen. I know pets are family, and I’ll treat yours like my own!

“We had a great experience working with Kristin while she cared for our dogs, Gracie and Miley. She was incredibly loving, attentive, and made sure the girls were well taken care of during our time away. From making sure they got proper exercise each day to giving their medications on schedule and meeting all their nutritional needs, she truly went above and beyond. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in a safe, caring environment. Kristin was also very sweet and easy to communicate with — we could tell she genuinely cared about our pups. We highly recommend her to any dog parents looking for a trustworthy and compassionate sitter!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Orchard home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Orchard.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Orchard sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
