“I was very happy with my overall experience with Rover. It was easy to set up and choose someone to care for my 2 cats when I was out of town. Nancy was great! She came when she said she would and gave me updates at each visit. When I came home, the house was so calm and peaceful. The cats were safe, fed and happy. I would definitely recommend Nancy and will use her again in the future. Thanks! :) Rose G.”

About: Hi there.. I have always owned a dog in my life. I have worked at an animal shelter for 2 1/2 years taking care of the dogs. I have been around most breeds and personality types. I am calm and patient around dogs and know how to read their body language. But I also love to be goofy and playful with them when the environment is right. I believe every dog is an individual and what might work for one dog won’t always work for another. I have some dog training under my belt from working with other trainers and taking classes but I’m not certified yet. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out! I am currently working part time at an animal shelter so I have plenty of time to dedicate to working with your pups! I currently only offer dog walking and stop ins but will eventually start boarding. I currently don’t offer boarding but I will eventually! At a client’s home I’ll make to gather all the details from the owner to ensure an easy transition for both them and their animals. The last thing I want is an owner to worry while they’re away! I’ll treat your animals like they’re my own.

About: Hello, my name is Amanda and I am the loving mother to a bichon named Mollie. For the last seven years I have volunteered a lot of my time at local shelters in addition to helping walk dogs. I’m a very caring and compassionate person, and I help care for all dogs as if they are my own. Associates of mine have referred to me as trustful and reliable in helping care for their beloved members of their families. Through furthering education and professional experience, I’ve been able to fine tune what dogs need consistent with their breed(s). In addition, I am experienced in delivering dog first aid plus CPR. I provide my own transportation and my hours are flexible. I look forward to hearing from you.

About: Animal lover and long-time dog mom! I spend my time exploring the Hudson Valley and at home with my husband and our senior boys: Harvey the Beagle, Thor the cat, and our newest rescue Tonka the Siberian Husky mix. Over the years we have gained much experience in general/separation anxiety, canine behavior and socialization, and administering pills. My approach is at first cautious to build trust, gentle and firm when providing care, and always tuned in with awareness to ensure safety. My love for animals truly makes them my top priority. I hope to meet your pup soon! Please note that my house-sitting rates are for daytime only; roughly a standard 8 hour workday.

About: Hi, I’m Breyalyn! Professional bellyrub giver, treat dispenser (with permission, of course), and full-time dog lover. As a proud dog mom to my spoiled girl Suzie, I know that dogs aren’t “just pets”, they’re family. Whether your pup loves his zoomies, is a professional squirrel investigator, or a couch potato who wants to nap, I’m happy to match their vibe. We’ll go on exciting walks, play their favorite games, and make sure they get all the love and attention they deserve. When your dog is with me, you can expect: 🐾 Tail-wagging walks and adventures 🎾 Playtime until someone needs a nap (probably me) 💛 Endless love, cuddles, and attention 📸 Plenty of photo updates because I know you’re going to miss them 🏡 Care that’s personalized to your dog’s routine and personality My goal is simple: make your dog feel like they’re on their own little vacation while giving you total peace of mind. So if your pup is looking for a new human friend who will love them almost as much as you do, I’d love to meet you both. Just don’t be surprised if they drag you back to my door next time.. they tend to make themselves at home! 😊😂 I work from home, so I am home ALL day. I love to exercise and we have a fenced in yard for all of the playtime needed (a larger yard for a leashed walk). I’m always open to going for additional longer walks elsewhere Your pet’s safety is always going to be my priority. They will have a separate apartment area of the house (that I spend all of my time in). They will also have a fenced in yard. Food and water (treats if allowed) will be provided all day. My doggie will be kept separate unless otherwise agreed upon!

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats since I was a teenager, and pet sitting has always been something I genuinely enjoy. I have experience with scheduled feedings, walks, playtime, bathing, and providing plenty of companionship and emotional support to help pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I truly love animals and believe they’re part of the family, so I treat every pet with the same patience, kindness, and care I would want for my own. I’m a loving, trustworthy, honest, and responsible sitter who will treat your pet like family, making sure they receive the attention and care they deserve. I’m currently working part time and volunteer a few days a week, so I’ll have plenty of time to spend with your fur baby! I’m available all day Wednesdays as of now, but can be flexible depending on your needs. Your pet’s safety and happiness are always my top priorities! I’m attentive, responsible, and caring, whether I’m taking your dog for a walk, checking in for some company and playtime, or making sure they’re comfortable at home. I’ll pay close attention to their needs, follow your instructions, and keep you updated so you can feel confident knowing your furry friend is in good hands.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
