Dolly had a fun, relaxing time in Khalia’s care. We’re so grateful Khalia was available to play and keep Dolly company while we visited family.

About: I have over five years of pet sitting experience and began caring for pets back in high school, where I built a pet sitting business of my own. Through that experience, I learned how important reliability, communication, patience, and personalized care are for both pets and their owners. I’m comfortable with dogs, cats, multiple-pet households, walks, feeding routines, playtime, and providing companionship. I also have many past clients in Florida who would gladly speak highly of my care and professionalism. As a pet owner myself with two dogs and one cat, I understand that pets are family and deserve genuine love and attention. I will be relocating to Homewood in mid-May and will have a very flexible summer schedule while taking online classes. This allows me to be available throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, pet sitting, and last-minute needs. Because I travel by bike or electric scooter, I’m focusing on nearby clients so I can provide dependable, punctual care and consistent availability. Safety and trust are always my top priorities when caring for pets. In a client’s home, I carefully follow feeding schedules, walking routines, medication instructions, and household preferences to keep pets comfortable in their familiar environment. I make sure doors, gates, leashes, and surroundings are secure at all times. I provide gentle attention, exercise, companionship, and updates so owners feel confident knowing their pets are in caring and reliable hands.

About: I was always had furry siblings but have graduated to a cat mama. I enjoy creating personal heavens for our companions. Reliable, punctual and kind. I have a full-time job that pays the bills but I am looking for ways to feed my soul. Overnights are great as well as drop ins. I would prefer to host at client's homes as my current home does not allow dogs. Willing to board or take cats overnight. Let's make it a sleepover!

Tori was amazing with my high-energy dog! She spent a ton of time with my dog and took her to the dog park many times to burn her energy which my dog loved. She was also very thoughtful and sent lots of pictures and videos while we were away for 2 weeks and was very responsive the whole time. She was very accommodating and I would highly recommend her! Will definitely be using her again in the future.

About: I’m fortunate to have experience with a wide variety of animals thanks to my cousins, who have two cats, three dogs, a turtle, and a horse. I help care for their pets regularly, so I’m comfortable meeting the unique needs of animals of all kinds and treating each one like family. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I’m currently finishing up breast cancer treatment and have intentionally chosen pet sitting as my primary work. This gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. I truly enjoy spending time with animals, and being able to provide reliable, loving care while I’m in this season of life has been incredibly rewarding. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible. At my home, pets have access to a securely fenced backyard for supervised play, exercise, and potty breaks, along with plenty of attention, affection, and a comfortable place to relax. In a client’s home, I follow their pet’s established schedule for feeding, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any other care instructions. My goal is always to help pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away.

About: I have experience caring for a variety of pets with different needs and routines. I have taken care of a 1-year-old cat along with 3 other adult cats, including a cat who required at least 30 minutes of playtime and interaction every day. I have also cared for a large dog who ate home-cooked soup mixed with his food at specific feeding times, as well as a husky who stayed in an air-conditioned dog house unit and required daily vitamins and attentive care. I am good at following direction for the desired care you and your pet need. I work remotely and any activities I plan I would plan around a schedule if at all with the pet in mind. I will plan in advance for the openings I have in my schedule to permit me to be with the pet. I typically stay in the pets home to create a less stressful environment for the pet and go about its daily routine as instructed by the pet owner. I will stay as long as required by the pet owner or stay in a guest bedroom all day depending on what makes the pet owner most comfortable with.

About: I was born and raised with Dobermans by my side, but my expertise does not just span large dogs--but also small dogs, puppies, seniors, cats, and other furry friends. I’ve been a reliable pet sitter, taking care of my friend’s and family’s cats and dogs. I’ve ensured they’re well-fed, entertained, and they have taken care of business 💩. I’ve stayed at homes and made drop-in visits, so I can provide flexible care. I understand that your pets are like family members, so I’ll treat them with the same patience and respect they deserve! I am currently working part time at an office and applying for other jobs. I have a lot of extra time on my hands and I am looking to fill it by spending time with animals and getting my steps in! I am open for last minute bookings!!! I prioritize your pet’s comfort by following your specific care routine. My process begins by gaining your pet's trust through a calm, patient approach, ensuring they feel safe before we dive into anything. I like to keep the line of communication open with the pet parent to ensure transparency throughout the whole process. I maintain a consistent schedule for feeding, potty breaks, and affection to minimize any anxiety they may face without their typical routine away from parents.

About: While I’m newer to professional pet care, I’ve always loved animals and taken time to learn how to properly care for them. I’m patient, responsible, and very attentive to instructions. I’m comfortable following feeding schedules, giving fresh water, cleaning up after pets, taking safe walks, and providing playtime and affection. I understand how important pets are to their families, and I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for at all times. Pet care actually fits really well into my high school schedule especially since i don’t have a job yet. It’s flexible, low stress, and you can choose what works for me When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress free as possible. I carefully follow all instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and bedtime routines. I make sure your pet has fresh water, a clean space, and plenty of attention. I provide gentle play, calm companionship, and safe supervision during visits. I also send updates and photos so you can feel comfortable knowing your pet is being well cared for while you’re away. About: Ive always had a love for animals, there was never a time my house didn’t have at least one. I have taken in strays, fosters and cared for friends and families dogs when in need and they always bring them back. I currently work Tuesday and Thursday evening and go to church on Saturdays. I am usually home otherwise so I will have plenty of time to care for your pets, play and take them out. I am very flexible and can fit the needs depending on your pet. I am always attentive when caring for any animal and am good at following plans and schedules that they have. I am able to take dogs out and or walk them. I have an enthusiastic cane corso myself so I am very use to larger animals and can handle many behaviors even if needing to work on them.

We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Brit! She took amazing care of our senior lab and our two cats while we were away, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. She was attentive, reliable, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. Our older dog can need a little extra care, and Brit handled everything with patience and compassion. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pets and a house just as we left it. Highly recommend Brit to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!

FAQs for House Sitting - Olympia Fields

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 7,175 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Olympia Fields. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Olympia Fields walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Olympia Fields maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Olympia Fields choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Olympia Fields. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
