“We couldn’t have been happier boarding with Charlotte while we were visiting Acadia! She’s a lovely person and gave our lab, Mabel, exactly the home away from home experience we hoped for (and arguably even more fun!) We didn’t have a moment’s worry knowing that Mabel was in the best of hands. We will definitely be back!”

“Nancy was fantastic and so super sweet! Very responsive when we needed to communicate and easy to work with for drop off/pick up logistics. She sent us some pictures of our happy pup during our time away and we felt he was in great hands the whole time.”

About: I have two labs, one is six years old and the second is six months old. People have trusted me to take care of their dogs for years and I love being around animals. I currently work full-time from home and I’m outside with my dogs every day playing! pet care is a necessity for me as my world revolves around my girls. I have two labs that are very friendly and playful, I also have the ability to crate dogs as well. I used to work in clients homes so I have a vast understanding of the necessity to keep your home safe and well cared for. I also understand the vulnerability that your pet may feel if you are gone at work or for a period of time.
“I can't say enough good things about Jess! I was really nervous about leaving my dog with someone for the first time, but she made me feel so comfortable. From the moment I dropped him off, it was clear that she genuinely cares for animals. She treated my dog like her own, giving him plenty of attention and love. She sent me regular updates and photos, which really made me happy to see him throughout his stay. He seemed so happy and content when I picked him up, and I could tell he had a great time. I will absolutely be booking with her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Old Town
Booking with Kate was great! We were lucky to fit in their schedule and I think our dog had a better vacation than we did! Kate sent morning and evening updates with pictures so we wouldn’t miss the pup too much. I was also very pleased with how open Kate was about her schedule and what our pup would likely experience on a day-to-day basis. Their home was clean and well pet proofed. I really appreciated how flexible Kate was with the initial meet and greet and I could tell right away that it would be a good fit. Definitely a great option for anyone in the Bangor-Old Town area.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
