About: I am an avid lover of all creatures big and small. I have had farm animals, cats, dogs, exotic and small critters my whole life. I have experience with grooming, nail trims, giving medication. I worked in animal welfare for several years and have training on animal handling, animal safety, and have handled professional experience with animals from pit bulls (love them!) to newborn mice. Currently, I own cats, a dog, ferrets, and birds. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, and I make sure the animals I’m watching receive plenty of time, attention, and structure throughout the day. I plan my schedule so that pets receive regular potty breaks, walks, feeding times, and play or enrichment activities. Because I prioritize keeping pets on their normal routines, I try to match their usual schedule as closely as possible. This helps reduce stress and keeps them comfortable while their owners are away. My experience working at a humane society also means I’m used to building my day around animal care—monitoring behavior, providing exercise and enrichment, and making sure each pet’s individual needs are met. Whether it’s energetic playtime for active dogs or calm companionship for more relaxed pets, I make sure they get consistent attention and care. I have a very flexible work from home job so I am available any time, any day of the week. I'm also available typically at short notice. Safety and trust are my top priorities when caring for pets in a client’s home. I always start by learning the pet’s routine and any specific instructions so I can keep things as consistent and stress-free as possible. With my background working at a humane society, I’m very comfortable reading animal body language and handling dogs with different temperaments, including reactive, anxious, or shy dogs. I take things at the pet’s pace, respect their boundaries, and use calm, positive interactions to help them feel safe. During walks and outdoor time, I stay alert to the environment and avoid situations that could cause stress or unsafe interactions with other dogs or people. I’m especially mindful with reactive dogs and large breeds, and I prioritize controlled, safe handling at all times. In a client’s home, I treat the space with respect and make sure pets stay secure, comfortable, and on their usual routine. I also keep owners updated with messages and photos so they can feel confident their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re away. Due to my dog's own fearful reactivity, I will not provide in-home services.
