“Anytime we travel I make sure to book care for our cat with Andrew. He is flexible, always reliable and answers quickly to any questions we have. I love the pictures and updates he sends us to let us know what is going on. I look forward to continuing to book with him whenever we need it!”

“Joe is beyond amazing! I started a new job and was looking for someone that could not only accommodate the multiple times per day for my little girl but also give her the attention she needs; we were going from me working remotely to being in the office 4x/week. From our first visit, Joe was super attentive to understanding what my Cleo likes/doesn’t like. He comes prepared, treats Cleo as if she were his own, and his communication during his visits is superb! He definitely goes above and beyond and that gives me peace of mind while I’m at work. 120% recommend!! Thank you for all you do, Joe!”

“Pam did such a wonderful job with Logan and Sabrina!!! This will be the first of I hope of many future bookings she is thorough and cares about the doggies and so sweet!!!”

“Allie took such good care of my nervous kitty! Her updates gave me peace of mind during my trip. Can't thank her enough for helping Leo stay on his routine and keeping him safe and well fed!”

“Avital was amazing with a last minute booking to watch our fur babies while we welcomed our new baby to the world! She worked around new grandparents and some equipment shortages with grace and were happy to have her pet sit again.”

About: About Me 🐾 Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for both dogs and cats. I grew up with my dog, Lucy, and two cats, so animals have always been a big part of my life. For the past three years, I’ve also been a proud dog parent to my pup, Omelette! As a pet owner myself, I know how important it is to have someone you can genuinely trust with your pets. I’ll treat yours with the same patience, attention, and care that I give my own — whether that means a long walk, some playtime, keeping them company, or just making sure they feel comfortable while you’re away. I work during the day but have a flexible schedule outside of work, making me available for evening walks, drop-in visits, overnight stays, and other pet-care needs. I’m happy to work with your pet’s normal routine and follow any specific feeding, walking, medication, or care instructions you provide. I’m comfortable caring for both cats and dogs and understand that every animal has their own personality. Whether your pet is energetic and ready for an adventure, shy and needs some patience, or would rather spend the evening curled up on the couch, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at. Most importantly, I want you to be able to leave your pet knowing they’re in good hands — and I’m always happy to send plenty of pictures and updates along the way! 🐶🐱 I work a full-time schedule, but I have plenty of flexibility outside of work to provide reliable pet care. I’m available for evening walks and drop-ins during the week, as well as overnight stays and more flexible care on weekends. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine and make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and company while you’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and understand how important it is to feel comfortable with the person caring for them. I’m attentive to each pet’s individual routine, personality, feeding schedule, medications, exercise needs, and boundaries. I’ll always follow your instructions closely, keep your home secure, and provide regular updates and photos so you know your pet is safe, comfortable, and getting plenty of love.
“Alexa was extremely responsive and professional throughout! She provided a thorough description of how my cat did while we w the vet away. My cat seemed very happy when we came back. Will definitely rebook!”

“I am very fortunate to have found Yang to take care of my girls for a week. Yang was extremely kind, trustworthy, communicative, caring, responsible, prepared, thoughtful and generous. In our meet and greet she brought a notebook, connected with my cats and asked great questions before leaving. She offered to bring her own brush to groom my one cat, wore shoe covers to keep my place clean and even brought her own litter bags to take away each day. The level of detail and attention she provided throughout the whole experience was something I have never experienced from a pet sitter and the genuine bond she formed with my cats made me exceedingly assured, content and happy knowing they had her presence and care while I was away. I can’t recommend Yang enough and will pick her as my sitter going forward.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life but i’ve been dog sitting for friends and family since I was 15. I’m well trained at taking care of multiple extra large dogs. I only work part time currently so I have open availability pretty much all the time. I’m very active so I love to go on walks! Just reach out to me for a booking :) I don’t have room to care for your pet inside my home but i’m happy to come to yours to take care of your babies
“Samantha was so great with my cat, Oliver. He needs medication twice a day and she handled that with no issue. She also was very communicative with updates. Will definitely use her again in the future!”

“Sevinc is absolute fantastic. She was extremely attentive and friendly to my cat Arthur. I definitely felt at ease, especially with this being my cat’s first time alone overnight. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and trustworthy pet sitter.”

“Wendy did a fabulous job watching our two fur babies! Being out of the country I'm always frightened the AC will stop working for some odd reason, but she assured me that the house remained cool the entire time. Located in the same town as me, she could come to the house quickly if needed. The house was clean and tidy just like we left it. We'll definitely use her on our next trip!”

“Kimberly was a life saver. She quickly filled in when my original sitter fell through during my 3-week work trip. She sent photos and was extremely communicative. Couldn’t ask for a better sitter for my cat while I was traveling. Would definitely use her again.”

“Jennifer visited our four year old male American shorthair rescue cat Ricky daily for us. She sent us beautiful photos of Ricky which were reassuring. We will be happy to hire Jennifer again.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Oakland
Joe was absolutely excellent with our precious fur baby. As this was our first time using Rover and choosing Joe. Joe took the time to understand our pet's lifestyle and was wonderfully engaging with our young cat. Throughout our time away, Joe provided great communication, sending daily updates and fantastic photos of his time with our little one, that reassured us she was content, safe, and happy. It was clear that he genuinely cared about her well-being and treated her with kindness and attention. Joe is truly amazing, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We now know exactly who we'll be trusting whenever we need to take care of our little one in the future. We highly recommend Joe to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and dedicated pet sitter. Rover is very fortunate to have Joe on the team!

Alexandra took excellent care of our cat, Luna. Besides taking a photo for each of her drop-in visits, she would occasionally send a video, as well as reach out to me to let me know how things were going. I really felt that Luna was in great hands. I would definitely hire her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oakland. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
